Welcome to my channel, come and join me whilst i compete my Welsh section D Willow at herts county show 2023, in the section C and D class.
Here I share my journey from a complete novice horse rider to now competing at horse of the year (HOYS) shows whilst being a completely self-taught equestrian.
I have failed so many times over the years but always learnt something from it, I hope that my CZcams channel will be able to help teach you all the little bits that nobody seems to share and help progress you on your journey quicker than I did on mine.

I compete my 4 Welsh section D cobs regularly in both in hand and ridden showing, from local level shows, affiliated, WPCS, RIHS, to HOYS qualifiers,
Willow - 11yr old Welsh section D - Sooty palomino
Gambler - 9yr old Welsh section D - Black roan
Champ - 7yr old Welsh section D - Buckskin
Donut - 2yr old Welsh section D - Chestnut roan
I am a completely self-taught horse rider who has a big dream to compete at HOYS, why not follow my journey to see if we can make it,
I'm not perfect and I make mistakes but what we learn from it is what truly matters.

Yes we have to remember not to let one judge’s decision put us down,
Same show (different year) same horse but different judge and we got such a different result

Willow is looking stunning with his lovely dark dapples coming through, he went really well. Congratulations on your results 🎉, it was a strong class, being beat by a good horse is never a bad thing, especially when being ridden by Hannah 😂 xx

Hannah is a hard one to beat what ever horse shes on 😂, shes amazing and has played a very big part in my journey with willow and i cant thank her enough xx

I definitely think he felt better this show then previous couple, but his still not giving me everything that he usually does, so he’s having a full MOT 😂
His saddle had some adjustments last week, farrier is due this week, physio coming next week and teeth being done at the end of the month,
Fingers crossed after all this he will be back to his usual self 😂 xxxx
Congratulations! Having lived abroad for nearly 20 years it was lovely to see the herts county show again! Used to go every year with my mum and my nan, being from Hatfield it was just up the road and i miss going so thanks ❤

well done on 2nd place! Went to a show yesterday with my boy and entered the novice rider/horse combo and we got a 3rd! (last month we didn't place in same sized class). Hoping next time ill get a 2nd or my first 1st - your videos have really helped so thank you!

Loved it super well done to both of you!! Just love willows colouring so cool how he’s always changing. You seem so relaxed and confident! Wish I could feel that way about Kent county show never done anything like it and I’m petrified 😭 last few weeks I’ve had these random oh god what have I done thoughts 😂 xx

Kent county is a lovely show so just remember to breath and enjoy it, we need to come out of our comfort zone to grow and better ourselves, you are going to have so much fun xx

@@casper.the.exracer The judge will pick up if your nervous, so 'fake it till you make it' and act confident, it will give a better overall impression to the judge and then your horse wont pick up on your nerves,
No sadly im not there this year, it clashes with a HOYS qualifier that im doing

A good picture is one of the best things to come away with, a rosette comes close second xx

Why do you wear your rosettes for the championship?
To be honest I can’t answer that question on ‘why’ but it’s a common thing at most shows
@@KarenBadrick1 here only the 1st place riders go in for champion and the 2nd place getter is on standby if the winner of their class wins champion then they can go in for reserve. The classes must take forever with undersaddle then confirmation in hand and then back under saddle don’t see that too often no wonder you didn’t get into the ring until 3 in the afternoon, my pony would have wreaked havoc waiting around that long 🤪
We only have to take the saddle off and do conformation at the higher level shows, and yes some classes seem to take forever to get through 🤦♀️
In the championship, 1st and 2nd go in from each section, then it’s treated as a completely different class (without taking saddle off) and then the judge picks the ones they think went best in that class 😊
