He really didnt. Before Tyson he became undisputed cruiserweight champion and then undisputed heavyweight champion, having a pretty decent reign as champion. And not to mention his legendary trilogy with Bowe.
@@tonyh8965 He may have said that, but a fighter becomes legendary through the fans perception of him, not the fighters perception of himself. Holyfield was a warrior inside the ring, had great achievements and beat great people before Tyson. His fights with Bowe and the likes of Foreman were more legendary than his fights with Tyson, in my opinion.
@@patrickryce1225 foreman was 42 ffs. Ruddock at the time was seen as much more of a treat. George was largely laughed at… Holyfield only took that fight for a payday. Holyfield arguably lost all 3 fights to Bowe, but yeah great fights. To judge Tyson on the Holyfield loss after 4 years and 3 months of inactivity between 91-95 & going into the fight 7 rounds in 5 and a half years is harsh. I believe Mike's lying through his teeth....he knew he was in trouble early and that's why he ran his eye into holyfields head intentionally hoping he would open his cut get the fight stopped and maybe get the decision if he was far enough on the score cards
The fact Mike Tyson did not know if he was winning or losing on the scorecards makes your theory hard to believe. Mike Tyson was not dominant enough in the early rounds to really be sure he was ahead on the cards...but who knows
Evander definitely won both fights, but he did so by sneaking in purposeful headbutts again and again and again throughout both contests. He was just a master at the art of headbutting and getting away with it. He butted Lennox Lewis in both fights and got away with it and also butted the shit out of the late Michael Dokes and George Foreman, which helped him defeat both men. He was such a master at headbutting that both ringside commentators and officials alike just did not pick up on what he was doing. Evander should have been nicknamed the 'Ghost Butter' instead of 'The Real Deal'. Mike was smashed to pieces by Evander's headbutts in both fights. He never had a prayer. I don't condone him biting both of Evander's ears in the second fight but a couple of low blows to the nuts might have made Evander think twice about continuing with his skull crushing headbutts. But, alas, Mike snapped, his mind took a walk off the map and the rest his history. Evander got his two wins and paid for it with a piece of his ear. In the end, boxing was the loser because the boxing public got conned by a man who portrayed himself as God fearing and clean living when in reality he was just as dirty as any fighter who ever lived. But perhaps the saddest thing of all is that both these men squandered hundreds of millions of dollars during their careers and are now having to fight exhibition matches in their mid and late 50s to earn money to help pay the bills. How sad!
@@Narration___Nation Yes, he sure was. He probably started using them as far back as 1988 to enable himself to bulk up from cruiserweight to heavyweight. However, we will never really know because the media portrayed Evander as the cleaning living 'good guy' who could not put a foot wrong. In reality, however, the man was a dirty fighter who used every underhand trick to gain an advantage over his opponents. Sure, he was fit, motivated, determined and well conditioned but he WAS NOT A CLEAN FIGHTER! That's where most of the boxing public were fooled for the duration of Evander's 27- year-long pro career. 🥊

He did a good job at block mikes hits just miek was very dazed to fight once he got hammered. People also say Tyson was in something when he was like that since he was around 12 so it’s genetic. If people say he was on something at 12 he was living in the streets he had no reason to use them nor did he even have access too them. He also admitted to doing drugs while boxing but no steroids
@@Narration___Nation Yes, that's the differece. Mike was a drug addict and alcoholic from a very young age. His mother used to give him booze to help him sleep at night when he was just nine years old. You can read all about Mike's problems with drugs, booze and women in his book: Undisputed Truth. It really makes for a fascinating read! Evander, on the other hand, did not drink, do drugs or smoke but he had problems with women and he used steroids as you say from around 1993 onwards. He was no angel but in the eyes of the media he was boxing's 'good guy' and Mike was the 'bad guy'. Evander used this 'good guy' image to his advantage because it helped him to get away with a lot of fouls such as head butting and low blows during his fights. I cannot recall a referee ever taking a point away from Evander for any of the fouls he committed in the ring. He was one of boxing's most protected fighters in that respect. I believe Mike would have beaten Evander by decision or by disqualification had points been taken away from Evander for headbutting Mike in both of their fights. Unfortunately the referees in both fights allowed Evander to headbutt Mike repeatedly without ever penalizing him. This is why Mike snapped in the second fight causing him to bite Evander. Mike lost because the boxing 'powers that be' wanted him to loose. He really and truly had no chance of beating Evander because both fights were unfairly officiated! 🥊

Mike Tyson was an animal, and in his prime, he was formidable. He should have stopped with Kevin Rooney, who Cus D'Amato assigned, and he would have been a heavyweight champion for years, but when Don King and Robin Givens got involved it was all about money. After the Spinks fight, Tyson fired Rooney along with all other staff that comprised the Team Tyson from the beginning. The day Tyson fired Kevin Rooney, there was a cap put on Mike Tyson's development as a fighter. He did not develop anymore beyond that day.
1987-88 nobody wanted none of Mike believe that 💯
There was no one around in the late 80s to challenge Mike. There was in the 90s and thats when we saw him lose.
I can name plenty of boxers who would've been able to beat mike around that time.... y'all fail to realize the cats mike fought in his prime was tomato cans with the expansion of Larry Holmes but even with Larry he fought him not only past his prime but just came out of a 3 year retirement but I guarantee mike wouldn't been able to do that if Larry was young..I bet my apartment and my entire pay check on that
Oh and George foreman came out of retirement just to fight mike and that was around the time you're talking so THIS POST is stupid
What quality fighter that was in their prime did Tyson ever beat? I mean real killers of Holyfield's caliber. Name ONE

Them headbutts were fucking lethal! Jesus. The way Holyfield swung into full but. That's gotta take some damage like!! Anyone else would stop, Tyson kept going
What the hell was wrong with Vollmer? Scoring 4 rounds with 10-10.
Don King. He knew Evander was about to ko Mike, and was hoping if it get to a decision Mike would win on a split.

Earth wind and fire should do the interview and just sing do you remember.
Let’s be honest, they fought a weak Mike after jail and all. He lost a lot after cus died. All these things play a role. Because Mike is a sensitive person, so it affected him badly!
MY BROTHER in Christ everyone has thier problem days no need give reasons

Hey Mike what do you thing of the fight? ....Who's Mike?
Holyfield biggest Weapon is his Head
That was Mike Tyson that came in with his head and didn't even have a punch behind it which I didn't even realize until they just showed it in slow motion. Holyfield was standing still when Mike Tyson head butted Holyfield. I'm sure you seen that but you to dishonest to admit it. That looked like a international head butt from Mike Tyson and he got the wrost of it. You just mad because Holyfield beat Mike Tyson up twice knocking him out the first time lol

It's SIMPLE why Holyfield wasn't intimidated by Tyson;he had to look FOUR inches downward to SEE him!! There simply aren't many 6'3"guys intimidated by 5'9 1/2"dudes.
holyfield was bigger than tyson and out boxed him when mike gassed out.
Good sentiment, and goes to show holyfields heart was unconditional as he fought with the same bravery against riddick bowe and lennox lewis as he did tyson
I seen holyfield in person, he didnt look no more than 6'0"
Except Holyfield was SMALLER than Tyson. He weighed LESS and was TALLER, making him skinnier… That’s why Holyfield started wearing long shorts and high socks after his loss to Bowe, to give the illusion his calves are bigger than they are, and to hide his thighs…
One word: steroids
Evander is so confident and cool, a pro
EVANDER WAS A GREAT THINKER! TYSON WAS A FIRST HEAVYWEIGHT THAT WAS SMALLER THAN HE WAS,ANDHE WAS NOT AFRAID OF TYSON, UNLIKE OTHER HEAVYWEIGHTS, WHO WERE SCARED OF THIS MAN.
That rug doesn't look very expensive
Evander is so respectfull here, while Mike just played mindgames from Holloway, King and Horne kitchen...

A lot o fight fans at his best post prison. WRONG
Mike was already on his way down in the Ruddock fights, After Rooney left ,the old Tyson was gone. Tyson at 20 to 22 was at his peak.....ppl start talking Lewis won over a great Tyson ,a shell of Mike , Thats all. After and before Berbick Tyson was the best ever.
Shoutout the great Ron Borges, the only scribe who predicted Holyfield would win the first fight.
If you actually watch the first fight you notice, a bunch of clinching which made it pretty bad if you ask me. I know clinching is allowed and all that but it is very excessive.
Savage fight
Someone needed to tell Mike its okay to lose. Its not a crime. You dont have to deny knowledge of everything that happened.
Tyson should never have been counted in the 6th round in my opinion.
It wasnt a slip, it was a result of a punch so it is a knock down whether he was off balance or not

Tyson fought dirty plenty of times in his career. He used to hit after the bell all the time.
@@lucasm3879Ok? How many times did Tyson foul in this fight? Once? Maybe twice? Evander got away with many headbutts and low blows and he didn’t do it just to Tyson, he headbutted many other fighters too.

If you actually watched Tyson’s career you’ll know he fouled in lot’s of fights
Cus D’Amato even taught him tricks to get away with, it was all part of boxing to him.
Tyson used to punch after the bell as well all the time.
Also watch the interview in the ring after the first Holyfield fight - Tyson actually admits that he butted too, and it wasn’t the reason why he lost.
He changed his tune when he realised he was going to lose again and needed an excuse.
Well for a few fighters to say holyfield headbutts them lewis. foreman, rahman was the worse
That Rahman head butt was RIDICULOUS. Evander is the most Prolific head butter of ALL TIME.
"I don't remember."
Either Mike is lying not remembering. But If what he says is true. Than it's sounds like Mike suffered from a concussion due to the headbutts.
Headbutta all day
It was a little of both.I think he suffered a concussion. After this fight there were more fights where Evander was accused of intentionally butting. Also I think butt or no butt he straight up won the fight. Tyson was in bad shape afterwards but he could remember more than what he says.
Notice @ 4:53 and @ 5:18 Holyfield Head Butted Tyson on purpose!

Holyfield sounds like a true warrior
Tyson was already a legend. Holyfield needed Tyson to become one.
He really didnt. Before Tyson he became undisputed cruiserweight champion and then undisputed heavyweight champion, having a pretty decent reign as champion. And not to mention his legendary trilogy with Bowe.
@@patrickryce1225 he stated himself he needed Tyson to cement his legacy as a heavyweight.
Great fights with Bowe, but lost 2 & arguably the 3rd.
Ok foreman proved to be tough older in age but this was not a peak foreman. It’s not better than Tyson’s win over Holmes who was 4 years younger despite what some argue. Holyfield arguably lost all 3 fights to Bowe, but yeah great fights. To judge Tyson on the Holyfield loss after 4 years and 3 months of inactivity between 91-95 & going into the fight 7 rounds in 5 and a half years is harsh. But for some bizarre reason people like to hate on Tyson. They ignore those stats as if he was prime & incredibly active. People forget going into Holyfield 1 he was 46-1 which is incredible considering his inactivity. Tyson deserves more respect,
Nice try Mike. You remembered every round. lol

How sad!
He was also on steroids
@@gwmba1989 he wasn’t using steroids since 1988. You can see the difference in his physic form teh 1st bowe fight to the last and it’s by a huge margin and that is near impossible to do if your not on anything. He was a good fighter but also dirty.
