"Ghost Quartet" is performed with the permission of United Talent Agency and Dave Malloy.
Ghost Quartet is one of those musicals where you can listen to the soundtrack, watch the show, read the synopsis on Wikipedia, and analyze it to death and still not understand what the heck is happening.
Green Gal22 And somehow still love it in the end. It's like buying something from tiffany's. You don't know why you bought that expensive peice but its pretty anyway.

But that is somehow part of its charm
the smile on dave's face during the entire show made me so happy he looks so proud

A partial list of things from this phenomenal production that had me S H O O K:
1. Seeing the original cast in the audience.
2. Rose and Pearl doing the synth solo from "Any Kind of Dead Person" VOCALLY.
3. Basically everything about this version of "Any Kind of Dead Person" tbh.
4. Switching around aspects of both Brent and Dave's characters and both actors doing it amazingly.
5. THE BEATBOXING
6. The audience members lowkey killing it during the dance section of "Four Friends."
7. The furious violin playing during Rose's breakdown.
8. Rose breaking down in tears instead of belting the money note in "Hero."
And, of course
9. The original cast ending "The Wind & Rain."
Did the rest of the audience not know that was the actual original cast of GQ sitting in the audience? Is that why they laughed when Caleb handed off his cello, did they not expect Brent to be able to play it? Or was it just that he was handing off such a big instrument?
I can't believe y'all actually gave Brent the cello that's great
YALL USED THE EGG SHAKERS RIGHT IN FRONT OF DAVE MALLOY! GODDAMN!
As amazing as this show is...it was ten times better in person (I'm the tall very awkward lady pulled up to dance during Four Friends-best kind of audience participation)
Am I crazy or is Dave Malloy sitting in the audience?! OMG I SCREAMED
yes! and that's Brittain sitting next to him, and Brent and Gelsey sitting across from them
I love how at the end of Wind and Rain everyone including the triangle player naturally looks to Dave to determine when to stop playing.
any kind of dead person was SO GOOD i actually applauded in my room at the end of it before catching myself
I love that you made sure to give the original cast the instruments.

I'm freaking out more than Dave at that de-synthesized solo
However switching some of the [DAVE] and [BRENT] parts, while I totally understand practically, makes this already impossible show even more confusing
So A+
also, note, i love the blocking so, so, so, so much
The first song sounds exactly like "Pierre" from Great Comet with a hint of "Sunday Morning"
The beginning of Subway always makes me think of the beginning of A Call To Pierre

beginning of usher p.one with the cello bit sounds like private and intimate life of the home
i dont know makes me think of private and intimate life of the house when bolkonsky says "bring me my slippers"
The beatboxing by The Astronomer was awesome
I can't get over how incredibly happy Brent looked throughout the whole thing!!

This show is amazing (deapite the fact I had to constantly cross-reference it with Dave's annotations on Genius when the alternate iterations confused me) and I'm honestly immensely glad that the first version I were to see of it was this

I saw this live and was charmed. A surreal version of SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY in a way. But needs more connective tissue, as confusion can create boredom.

I believe Rose and the Driver, not Rose and Pearl, had kids but I could be wrong

Rose Red and the Soldier were actual lovers, but only until Rose Red shoots her for her pot of honey. It wasn't Rose and the soldier who had kids, it was Rose and the Driver (?) who had kids, not the Soldier.
