ahhhh tysm!! I've tried a few methods to fix it and they weren't working so I thought I would have to redownload all my cc, so I got really worried. Thank god I found this before I did so! It actually fixed my game and was super easy! Again tysm for this because I would still be struggling if it weren't for you. :)

Hi! This usually happens if your firewall/antivirus is blocking the connection to thesims.com. Try open your antivirus program, go to settings > Exclusions and there should be a box with the heading 'files and folders', choose Origin.exe (which can be found in C:\Program Files or Program files (x86) \Origin\Origin.exe.
The same settings (this exclusion) should be made within your firewall.
Also, make sure to enable Online mode in Origin & delete your localthumbcache.package file from your Sims 4 folder. Repair your Sims 4 game through Origin (right click>Repair), open your game and your gallery should work. Let me know if this helps!

for all the people who it still doesn't work for, make sure you click on DOCUMENTS, then electronic arts, sims 4, open your MODS folder and then copy paste everything from you mods folder in there. Its very important that u click on documents, otherwise you might be pasting your cc and mods in a folder thats not the real one. Did you accidentally delete a mesh needed for a recolor? Those x's show up in CAS due to missing CC files. Make sure to find the missing files, download them once again, put them into your Mods folder and you those x's should disappear.

When I moved my cc to the desktop and went into the game and allowed cc and then quit the game, there wasn’t a new mods folder
Try to right click and select refresh in your Sims folder, repair your game through Origin, open your game once again, completely close it and a new Mods folder should appear.
I did everything you say 3 times from the beginning but it still gives the same warning I'm about to go crazy and that was my only game i loved 😭😭😭

Have you tried to move your entire EA folder to Desktop, uninstall & reinstall your Sims game? A new EA folder and, therefore, a new Mods folder will be generated. Open your game, enable mods and cc, apply changes, completely exit your game. Open it once again (with no mods or cc installed) and see if your cc and mods are still enabled in your game. If so, you can close it and make sure to place only updated mods and cc into this new Mods folder. Alternatively, you can try to place mods/cc one by one into your new Mods folder and open your game every single time you do this, just to check if everything works properly! If it doesn't, try to identify the problematic cc/mod and delete it from your Mods folder. Hope it helps! 🤗
You can just go to Game Options, then Other, then click enable Enable Mods and Custom Content, and Close the game after closing it. *Remember to click Apply Changes!* BOOM! Works! I know this since I did it and I was like, dam.

Hello! Do you use any mods? If so, make sure to delete all of your broken/outdated mods that you may have in your Mods folder and replace them with their updated versions. Please try to remove your localthumbcache.package and Options.ini files from your Sims 4 folder, go to your Game Library in Origin, repair your Sims 4 game (right click on it > repair). It may be down for maintenance. Also, make sure that you play your Sims game online (you can enable this option in Origin).

Yes, it does work for the EA platform as well! It's not really that different since resetting your Mods has to do with your Sims files, not with an actual platform!
But if this method doesn't exactly work for you and if a new folder does not show up, here is another helpful way!
1. Make sure you have mods&cc enabled in your game > close your game
2. Rename your Mods folder into Mods old (but keep your Mods old folder bcs we'll need it later on)
3. Open your game & close it straightaway
4. A new Mods folder should pop up
5. Copy all of your cc (but no script mods!!) from your Mods old to the new Mods folder
6. Download the latest versions for your script mods
7. Put your script mods into your new Mods folder

If we are using windows, you can type in the main search bar (on the task bar) The Sims 4 > right click on the app > open file location > right click the highlighted app > run as administrator
This will only show up if we are playing on the main user (account) on windows

Do you have any outdated/broken mods in your Mods folder? Make sure to move your entire Mods folder to Desktop, open your Sims 4 game, close it and a new Mods folder should show up in your Sims 4 folder (if it doesn't show up, you can try once again to open your game, close it completely and then your newly generated Mods folder should appear). Repair your game through Origin (right click on The Sims 4 > repair).
Copy your cc from your old Mods folder (that you have on your Desktop) to this new Mods folder and, as far as mods go, make sure to only download the updated versions for them & copy and paste them into this new Mods folder. Do not use your old mods. Here you can see which mods have been reported as updated/broken/outdated:

No, basemental drugs do not require MCC. You can try this:
Make sure CC as well as script mods is enabled in your TS4 Game Settings.
Make sure you actually deleted any old files in your Basemental Drugs folder before installing the new version.
Script mods can not be installed further than one subfolder deep from your Mods folder. What this means:
This is correct: Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Mods / Basemental Drugs / The files goes here
This is incorrect: Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Mods / Some Folder / Basemental Drugs / The files goes here
Try to delete your localthumbcache.package located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder.
Make sure all your other mods and CC is up to date and not broken, as often times other broken mods may cause conflicts and issues with mods that works perfectly fine.

I need help!! When I want to turn on mods in the gameplay section in settings I can’t click on it it’s greyed out!!! I need major help!!
What always does wonders for me is resetting the Mods folder! I’m going to write the steps down below! Keeping my fingers crossed for you 🙏
1. Turn on cc & mods (in this case skip this step & do it after step 3)
2. Apply changes (if those do not apply, i have a fix for that czcams.com/video/ejP49zTg7FM/video.html > close game
3. Rename the Mods folder into Mods old (keep the Mods old folder in your TS4 folder) - do this with your game completely closed
4. Remove these files from The Sims 4 folder: localthumbcache & gameversion (this way we remove any temporary corrupted mod files, similar to getting rid of cache!)
5. Launch the game & close it rightaway
6. A new Mods folder should appear in TS4 folder (make sure it has the resource.cfg file inside!)
7. Copy all of your cc - clothes and furniture - (but no script mods or functional cc, things like life mods, restaurant mods etc) from your Mods old to the newly generated Mods folder
8. Download the updates for the mods (if there are any! If there are not, we gotta be patient a bit & wait till those updates get released🙏)
9. Place your updated script mods into your newly generated Mods folder

The gallery hasn’t been working for me and when I go to a post on the gallery it doesn’t work because when I press on the online gallery it says can’t locate item lots of people are having same problem like me so if u help me and lots of other people like me I’ll be very grateful:(
Hi! This usually happens if your firewall/antivirus is blocking the connection to thesims.com. Try open your antivirus program, go to settings > Exclusions and there should be a box with the heading 'files and folders', choose Origin.exe (which can be found in C:\Program Files or Program files (x86) \Origin\Origin.exe.
The same settings (this exclusion) should be made within your firewall.
Also, make sure to enable Online mode in Origin & delete your localthumbcache.package file from your Sims 4 folder. Repair your Sims 4 game through Origin (right click>Repair), open your game and your gallery should work. Let me know if this helps!

whenever i right click on the sims 4 the " run as administrator " doesn't show up like at all. so what do i do?

Try to enable and disable Online mode in Origin, repair your game, open it once again, close it completely and your new Mods folder should show up.

Open your Origin program and right at the top there should be a tab called 'Origin', click go offline and then go online.
Hell I wish I was that easy my Sims 4 doesn't work at all anymore and it worked perfectly fine be for this unnecessary update but thank you for all your help your great

Can i ask you , when you put all of the old saves and screenshots + trays in the new sims 4 folder can you delete the old one?
Yes, but make sure that you've copied all of your files & launch your game to see if your saves, sims & builds look & work fine.
Don't forget about your cc from your old EA folder. If you decide to use those, please copy them to your new Mods folder in small batches and every single time you do this, open your game and check if everything works properly. If you encounter issues, try to identify the culprit in your batch and remove it from your Mods folder. Btw, don't place any outdated mods into your newly generated Mods folder as those might cause you game issues! I truly hope it helps!

I followed this and I got a new Mods folder but it still has weird spots and like a question mark 😩

@@Darielle No, but i took out all of my cc and clicked ”unable custom content” and the stuff still showed. And do I have to update *all my mods/cc* or is there like an app that tells which cc’s/mods?
If you're using cc skintones, you really need to install the updated versions for them. Mods should be also updated. Make sure to delete any outdated mods, cc and replace those with the latest versions.
