- This I was meant to do the previous evening but I did not get around to doing so.
I have updated my Meshtastic device, a Heltec LoRa V3, to the latest version of the Meshtastic software.
This is version 2.3.0 at the time of writing and filming, this is an alpha release so may still be buggy but part of this hobby is of course experimenting.
as with anything it is always a good idea to keep the firmware up to date.
I also disabled MQTT as I had this enabled from a previous video to show the transmitted signal in an SDR waterfall display, I did this off camera after the firmware update.
I won't go through the whole process as I am sure there are videos already out there on how to do this.

Did I see that correctly? Can the Heltec V3 now be brought out of sleep by pressing the program button, instead if just being unresponsive in low power mode?
My heltec v3 goes into sleep mode and I can press the p button to wake it up but you get a message on the screen saying about unpowered
@@2j4ez Interesting. When I select low power mode (Serial and Bluetooth off) I can't wake it up with a program button press in version 2.2.24 (I can do a reset). Guess it is time for me to update too! Thanks.
@@Tore_Lund didn’t no there’s a low power mode I’m new to Meshtastic only had it a few days so still learning it
@@2j4ez Yes the menus and the settings are not that obvious. Low power mode is the first switch in the power menu under radio, in the phone app. It switches off Bluetooth wifi and USB comms. Possibly does some other settings to conserve power. However, bad news. the wakeup still doesn't work with the new firmware update. only from normal sleep (screen off). It must be me who remembered wrong, if I thought the Heltec V3 could be woken up by a button press!
