Because a black hole with the mass of the earth is visibly slightly smaller than a walnut, and a black hole with the mass of the sun is a much more noticeable (Though still comparatively tiny) 6km/4 miles in diameter.
black hole needs to be configured, I recommend raising gravity well size, maximum destruction, and turning on 'damage buildings when near'
