As an italian, I didn't expect this remake.
This is an adaptation of an Italian show, which was based on true facts. Main difference is that in the Italian version the one who lost his memory is a male doctor.
And he wasn't in a car accident, he was shot in the head by a patient, as I recall.
We also had a Greek version with a male doctor last season.
We see this fitting Dr house as a way to reflect on his coming forward to present day!

@@AnaGuerricoFan the actual doctor this tale is based upon was not shot, he had a car accident. This happened in real life, he got a brain injury and 12 years of his life erased from his memory. But the loss of a child is fictional, that's straight from the original TV show.

I like what I am seeing from DOC. This might be the next show I watch after TGD. Too bad we have to wait until mid-season.

I really like the original Italian version. Our (Czech) version was also very successful, I'm curious about the American version. It will definitely be interesting and not new in any way, the cast looks good.

In Saving Hope - Charlie didn't lose his memory, he was able to see spirits or souls of people in the hospital on the brink of death.

anyone remember the show samantha who? this feels like a serious drama version lol and i kinda like it, sometimes people gotten mean over the years and it carried over, but then they get a reset by forgetting a chunk of years and get to become a different person than they were before
We think that both Dr house and Dr Wilson should show up on this new series. Along with foreman,chase,Cameron,tab,and cuddy!

This would have been a perfect follow up to the tv series house! That house lost his memory and has to find himself again! Sherlock holmes came back in the empty house after people thought that he was dead!

Ixm glad there's another series I can watch one thing I don't like about series based on real life as in a real story is that they're usually limited meaning 4 seasons and their done i like longevity so thats disappointing
Looks wrong for network tv, commercials will be immersion breakers. 10 episodes to 1 season tops. Hope it gets picked up by Fox (fx) or another streaming service because it looks like an opportunity for really good storytelling.

I see its based on another show but the overall premise is like a mix of two 90s movies, The Doctor and Regarding Henry.
actually, the original show is based on the real-life story of a doctor who got a brain injury and permanently lost all memories of his last 12 years. It's a pretty recent event, in fact, it happened around early 2010s.

No, the main character was shot in the original Italian series, but the actual doctor the series was based on had a car accident. He didn't lose a child, that was the TV show's creation, but he did have to go through therapy because he couldn't remember his children growing up, so they'd sort of become strangers to him, and he said he felt like they'd died.
Remake of the Italian show with the same name (and gender bended). In the Italian version, the main character is also the head of the hospital. his last memory is from then he sighed his first contract as a doctor with that same hospital.

It worked really well for us italians, with a fourth season coming around early 2026.
Although americans drama is often meh, I'd expect to at least touch the social problems like private healthcare and build said drama around that.

Well, it can be. In the italian original the doctor went from the most hated in the hospital before the acident to the most loved after the memory loss. A personal tragedy made her fall into a darker side, then after the acident, and after been told what kind of doctor she was, she had a second chance to react differently when she find out about that personal tragedy.
So Fox canned The Resident (which mu wife and i loved)to bring on another tv hospital drama. They will probably cancel this in 3 seasons. Smh

I'LL PASS....they lost me with "inspired by". I don't understand why writers and producers find the truth to be boring entertainment. I prefer, "the true story of", not based on, or inspired by.
Ironically, this version's reason for memory loss is closer to reality than the original Italian series (In the Italian series the doctor was shot, in real life he just crashed his car into a tree). It looks more like a gender-swap of the true story.
