Another thing to note is that the first generation iPod touch has no speaker, so you need the headphone jack to get sound.

Mine still works fine. Cost me $325 CAN back in 2010 - in 2022, my open box iPhone 12 Mini cost me 400$ on eBay

fun fact, the 1st gen ipod touch only had a "piezo" speaker for making the lock/unlock and charging sounds. if you wanted audio, you would have to use headphones or use a speaker with the 30 pin connector (i made a short on a portable 30 pin speaker which you should totaly check out, its super small and cute)
I can't believe pressing home to unlock came out with iOS 10. That was nearly 7 years ago
Slide to unlock is what we have now in a way, but it's less cool

I still have mine! When I got it, the app store hadn’t come out yet so the first thing I did with it was jailbreak it! Winterboard, rRootage, barrel, 5 icon and invisible dock, etc… good times.

People keep hating on the notch acting like they'd prefer a thicker bezel. You can disable the notch if you want and you have the thicker bezel you wanted. BOMBOCLAT

I actually used one of these for years as my main device for watching CZcams… it was such an odd but wonderful time… I still have it, but it’s pretty much useless now. Can’t even handle music since my music library outgrew 32GB devices ages ago.

I had a second gen one
Gave it to my nephew a couple years back, it can't even do anything anymore, he just likes fiddling with the screen. Other than the software having no way to access media in any meaningful way anymore though, I'm pretty sure it works as well as the day I got it
I have a couple 1st gen ipod touches and I personally love the design. I think that apple should have made the black aluminum around the front in multiple colors. Imagine blue, green, pink, red, ect. Basically the ipod nano 4th gen colors.
I had iPod 4th gen and I loved it I have also had ok and iPod classic and a nano n at some point I had a shuffle 😂😂

I remember the day I bought iPod touch, I went to the mall and bought it. Then went to the movies and I was trying to set it up in the movies theater. My date was like dang so that after the movie. I’m like hush I worked hard for this lol.

I have like…the 3rd(?) gen? But I think its internals are messed up since it just keeps looping the apple logo. Also have the red iPod touch (I guess the last model) still works but the battery dies fast
Didn’t the iPhone have like a metal ball inside that would make sound for the ringer.
Mine had an expanded batter which I removed from the thing. Now it only works from a Firewire charger.

Original iPhone metal thing was in fact NOT waterproof.

Current gen iPhones are beautiful, much better than the 1st gen iPod touch (which I had back in the day!)
