Here's a tip, on Tradingview, after you add your 20SMA, if you enable the default smoothing average of 5 within its settings, each time they cross it signals a reversal. Not as powerful of course as the elephant bar or the long tail bar, but a good way to setup alerts that a cross has happened.

This is similar to what Kristjan Qullamaggie, a famous swing trader does. He buys on the breakout and then sets his stop at the bottom of the candle. In his case, it's a day chart, so he sets his stop at the low of the day he buys. After 3-5 days, if the stock is still going up, he raises his stop to break even. Applying that here, if you're on a five minute chart, and you get an elephant candle, set your stop to the bottom of that candle. After three more 5 minute bars appear to the upside, move your stop to break even. This keeps losses very light.

This works. Its so stupid simple that you will be sceptical at first but when you start paying attention on chart you will see. Four weeks ago when I first started to watch Olivers videos I was looking at my charts at the same time and what he was talking about started to happening on chart in real time video after video, day after day ,at this point I knew he knows what he’s talking about. All my chart now have 20/200 SMA’s and I am more confident in taking trades. Thank you very much Oliver, happy holidays to you and your family. 💪

I wish to add that the one distinguishing factor is the amount of losses or profit on a net basis rather than no of trades win. For example if you lose all money in one bar out of 10 wiping out all profit then no of trades alone does not matter

Oliver I have noticed over the past few years that prices have dipped under the previous elephant bar to hunt the stops sitting under there and then it will reverse back up. I believe this is big money and algorithms adjusting to our (small traders) actions.

As always always learning Oliver, thanks. One question that keeps coming up in my mind is when you say we only loose one bar, so you do not use the same size overtime? For example I have it so every trade I only loose 2% no matter the bar size. I know your busy but any help would be appreciated.

The 1 bar loss concept is interesting. The only issue I see is if a bar is long and the subsequent ones are very short before going below the first bar, then it'll take a few wins to cover that 1 bar loss
But losing from those important bars are quite rare tbh, and the runs from the states covered here is usually produce a trade thats way bigger than the 1 bar loss.
that's why you develop your own style and can also use price targets for profit etc.. I'm no master but I'm more patient now waiting for good set ups..
