- hi guys! in today's tutorial, I'll be walking you through a beginner-friendly way to render your Sims 4 Sims with Blender, Sims Ripper, and Sims 4 Studio.

for those who do not see a "_glass" part showing up with the rig: carry on with the tutorial like normal OR change the part without "_glass" to alpha hashed instead of opaque (see which setting looks better for you). this happens to me sometimes as well and I've never had any issues doing this. if you don't have a "_glass" part, that most likely means your Sim has no alpha CC on. sorry I forgot to mention that in the video! 🤍

Your render would develop a bit faster, if you change the device to GPU instead of CPU after changing your render engine to cycles. I've noticed it takes less than 5 minutes for me to do renders just by changing that little setting. ❤🔥

Love this tutorial! Curious, what are the gray things with holes that are in your spot light? I downloaded the same scene and mine doesn't have that and I'm wondering if that's why my lighting doesn't look like yours.

Hi. Do you know how to resolve this? When I launch TS4 ripper, I keep getting an error message that says "Your game packages path is invalid or a network error has occurred!" It used to work absolutely fine, and I had all of my game paths accurately filled in the settings. I'm not sure what went wrong :( Please help me!
The bit where you have to edit all the nodes, and then on the right where you click the sim then “glass” that but isn’t showing up for me?

Just wanted to say thank you so much for this tutorial!! It was very helpful! 😄👏🏻 Rendered my first image with the resolution of 720x1080, Render set to 1500 and left sampling at the default of 10. It took about 3 minutes to fully render and I (personally) wasn’t too happy with the result because when zooming in it’s gets blurry quickly. So I changed the resolution to 2160x3840, left the render at 1500 and changed sampling from 10 to 0 so it was unlimited 😅 It now says it’s going to take about an hour 😂 All good though as I have some dishes to wash anyway so I’ll just do that while this image is rendering lol. I might play around with it later and see how it does with using the gpu instead of cpu as well. Honestly an hour isn’t a big deal with the settings I have it set to though lol. I have heard that depending on your graphics card that using the gpu instead of cpu can sometimes be quicker. So I’m thinking of testing it out, or at least looking more into it anyway. Do you happen to know the benefits (or disadvantages) of rendering using the gpu instead of the cpu by any chance?
Just tested with GPU with the same settings and it took less than 10 minutes! Got a really nice high res photo 😊

When I'm exporting poses, TS4 Studios won't let me unless I'm using the blender 2.70 instead. Which is weird. Anyways... I have two versions of blender now. One for exporting poses and the other for the rest of the process
I can render them but I can't add a pose because my sism4studion doesn't support the newer versions of Blender I've literally tried every version of Blender and the only one that works is 2.7 but the problem is it's a completely different setup help!!!

When I export a child sim, most of the bones don't work. I can only move the arms? Is this normal?

thank you! i notice that when I’m missing the _glass version, that means I have no alpha CC on my Sim. So, perhaps, your Sims eyelashes aren’t alpha but maxis match? I COULD be wrong; this is just my guess.
I fixed this by re-exporting the DAE and making sure that the dropdown had "Solid and glass meshes and textures" selected.

when i click the 3rd Viewpoint shading it doesn't work and just goes grey :( I'm pretty sure I have the right Blender and I downloaded it like you on Ripper, and I can't even change the cubes colour! Idk what I'm doing wrong please help
I tried another version and the 3rd viewpont shading works fine, please specify which 2.82 version you're using cause the ones ive downloaded don't work.
Im comming from a programmers perspective and you made Blender look easy. :D well, oke, not to use blender, but how to get these similair results. Ill use this and other blender tutials to make some fancy pictures :D thanks so much. (shaders can be tricky and also very cool. special lighting, sparkles, animations. glitter, it should all be possible.

Whenever I try and do the pose it gets stuck and says I need to add a track first. Is there any way to fix this?
For some reason mine worked without deleting the dots. Instead of deleting dots- click on dots highlight them then try the append again.
how did you get blender 2.83 to even work? when i try to open it, it says the certificate is expired and it doesnt open
she didn't even show how to download it or anything I hate when they skip parts if a person is a beginner you are supposed to go through all the steps
What do I do if I don’t see the glass version of my sim?
idk if youve figured it out by now but go to material properties on the right side of the screen by ur sim (the icon kinda looks like a soccer ball lol) and change the blend mode to alpha hashed.

When i was exporting my pose pack to my saved folder i got a notification telling me that The sims 4 studio was unable to locate my blender installation, which i did download
That means you need to change your blender path or TS4 studios won't be able to locate it. Go to settings > prefference then you will be able to see where it says blender path. When you click on blender path, try to locate where the blender program is located on your pc/mac. I stumbled this issue as well.
hi!! for some reason blender doesn't let me append actions anymore?? when i click the blend file i don't see the list of folders anymore (actions, objects etc) and when i click append it tells me "nothing indicated". does anyone know how to fix this? 😭

What laptop/pc is the best for sims? My sims is laggy asf💀💀
A gaming PC is probably best, one with at least 16GB RAM and 256GB of storage. The computer I use is listed in the description.

no fr it was telling me i have to download blender 2.70a before i am even allowed to save the mesh...

Me too
that should be normal cause the black dots are what responsible for your sims to be able to pose. I promise you that the black dots wont show up in the final product.
I don't have the glass underscore.
I don’t think it’s always required. just apply alpha hashed to the one without the glass😁
One question, does it work with animals like horses?
yes! However I don’t know if any of these programs have been updated yet for the horse update. make sure to check first!

How can I add another sim to my render so my sims can pose together?
you would follow the exact same steps and just move each Sim closer to one another so that the pose looks correct😁

After watching this tutorial I got interested in renders but I’m trying to render my sim and everything is perfect except that I don’t have the simsname_glass, I only have like simsname (my sim’s name is Scarlett Arizona but I don’t think that’s the problem lol), if anyone knows how can I fix this problem I would appreciate some help, please and thank you 😢😢😢
if they don’t have the glass it may still work, just set the alpha hashed on the one without the glass😁

when I go to download a verison of blender 2.83 - it gives me a bunch from 2.83.0 to 2.83.9, which verison do i pick?
I picked 2.83.0 windows 64.zip- note that theres options for both windows and linux systems here (choose whichever one you computer is). I chose zip as well because thats the standard way of storing big files / was easiest for me to unpack (this should be the same for you!). If someone with more computer knowledge wants to chime in, feel free! but I found this to be perfectly functional :)

@@Slippy3 hmm, I'm not sure what you mean! the entire tutorial worked fine for me! Make sure your computer can run a 64 bit. If it can and you're still having issues, maybe its a blender bug? I dont know tbh, I'm super new to the program 😅

unfortunately no :( because SimRipper is only available on PC and the creator says they have no intention of ever making a Mac version.

Hi so um TS4 studio won't let me export the pose to Blender 2.83 and says I need to download Blender 2.70 idk what to do.
download 2.70 then change the path to 2.70 and it sould work just dont use 2.70

I have been losing my mind over this for 2 HOURS. Everything was working perfectly until I had to import the pose into Blender which Blender wouldn't let me save >:(

you want me to spoon feed you about how to download softwares & install the sims or what? LOL. this IS a beginner friendly tutorial, I was a beginner myself when I made it. 😭
yes it shows you are a beginner if a person is teaching someone to do something they don't skip steps the program did not download so I had to go to another simmer who is doing things step by step to show what to download and it looks as if other people had issues with it as well @@solitasims
youre probably not as computer literate as you think. This is a very beginner tutorial. unpacking and downloading program files is the only prerequisite needed lol she was very clear and concise especially using something as difficult as blender
