Dice I bought this album tha day it came out on vinyl, been a hard core gangstarr fan since there 1st album & I’m still pumping it like it just got realest
Man this is from 1994, I was one year old back then....and this is still Dope Af! There is just something about Guru and Premo that is just so absolutely Timeless! Certainly in my Top 5 of All time! Gang Starr Forever! RIP Guru! :)
One of the best. I've been listening to Hip Hop since around 85'. Gang Starr was considered best of the best when this album came out. I'm always surprised Guru isn't mentioned in best ever convo.
GangStarr one of the best Hiphop shows I had the honour to have seen in the UK. I remember them doing a flawless 2 hour set nonstop hits after hits. The crowd was packed and they went hard, every track banged. After the set GURU came off the stage and hanged out with the fans. Me and my boys had the pleasure of hanging out with GURU and just thuggin and rapping. He was coolest of cats! One of the best nights of my life. Rest In Power Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal! 👑👑👑
Its neva late to elevate levetate I remember yesterday but now im inna betta place, Before you start buyin shit at least have a base, Before icin out your chain watch that you got a block full of tapes
I played this album out in my ride when this was out hittin the budda spots in Harlem and reupin. One of my "faded out print" tapes. Still got the original.
I’m not a Sucka so I Don need a bodyguard. To me DJ Premier is the nastiest DJ in Hip-Hop. Not even going to speak on his production/beat making skills. He always finds the right records/verse to cut/put in a song.
Guru takes the listener on a lyrical journey on how fake MC’s infiltrate the pop charts with watered down, non substantive rhymes. These sucker MC’s chase dollars by misleading youth with studio gangsta stories. They go on to make large sums of money and gain instant fame, however they fall short of street credibility, lyrical versatility, walking the streets without bodyguards, underground beats, and above all respect among hip hop legends. Guru’s flow on this track is on point. Premier laced the track with his brilliant production.
Love the fact that someone is rocking a jeru the damaja shirt in the beginning of the video.. And 2021 we still can get those shirts.. One love to the gangstarr posse 😎

I always tripped off how hard Guru snapped on this track, how he's damn near yelling the words. Hard to Earn is the best Gangstarr album imo.
Nah moment of truth is where he really shines
@@The808Mixmaster I slightly prefer Moment of Truth as well but let's not forget about Daily Operation
@@phatplates daily operation is good but nowhere near production level of moment of truth
@@The808Mixmaster thing is they're both Premo but in my opinion the production is two totally different styles
@@phatplates yeah that's true daily operation was a lot more gritty and street. Moment of truth had better beats imo overall tho.

Guru speaks so clear and concise. I never need to look up the Genius page for a Gang Starr track.
Like 2Pac
I dont know why but seeing World Trade Center in that background behind Guru and Premo is so damn gangsta.
