  • In this tutorial on how to sound design scary ghost sound effects, I'll create a few horror sound effects using voice recordings and show you how you can make ghost and eerie whisper sound effects.
These can either be used on their own or as layers for different types of sound effects; for instance, you could layer them with trailer booms or hits to create a few scary and eerie elements.
This video ended up being a bit longer than I intended, but it shows one possible approach to process and layer voice recordings to get sound effects that might be suitable for suspense/ tension/ horror settings.
I'm using my own recordings and Ableton stock plugins; this can be easily replicated on other DAWs and recording your voice with your phone should be good enough.

As always, wonderful work. I was going to try some horror sound effects so I'll give this a try.
