    As a Canadian with a lifelong fascination with amusement park rides this has been the most elaborate, educational and thoroughly well shot video I've seen yet. Thank you for exposing me to rides I had no idea existed (The majority). I now have a new trip to plan to Europe!

    I have adored fairground rides for over 40 years! (yes I am old LOL!!). But following yeasterdays horrific accident I was reading so many comments from lovely young people who said they would never ride again, which was very saddening to me. But I think we should be looking at ride safety. The Afterburner (that crashed but was one of my favorites) has a painfully tiny arm bolt connecting to the 4 seat carriages, as do many "swing claw" rides. I would not be surprized if this type of ride might face a ban or tight restrictions becuase of the accident. However, by far the safest looking ride in this collection is the "Flying Circus!" with a very solid structure ballanced by two huge counter-weights. I am 51 but can't wait to try this one! The ride I certainly would not touch is "the Rocket" This is a concept design from the 1950's and back then it crashed frequently and cost some lives so I am surprized its back...and looking just as flimsy as ever!! If you wish to ride a ride at a fair my young friends, watch the ride for a round or two. Does it look solid and stable? Is it wobbly? Are the carraiges bolted with an ultra stong looking joint? Do the harnesses lock into place correctly? Things like that. And please continue to enjoy these rides! These magnificent machines are a delightful marriage between human engineering and mechanics, and the forces of nature, to bring us joy and pleasure (or scare us out of our wits!) so enjoy and have fun. Wishing you all very happy, and very safe rides! x

    I'm 32 and I think I'm so getting old because when I've seen this video the first though that came up on my mind was: people must be insane to go in there. I remember the rides when I was growing up such as the ranger, the crazy dance, the flying carpet, top spin.

    We could all ask "where is this" "where is that" but end of the day its Xtremerides own choice of favourite 20. One for you to track down this year if you can - the four-arm version of the Tivoli Techno Power (Extreme Orbiter) travelling France. The arms rise much higher than Eckl's original ride, more like the "Extreme" rides in the UK.

  • @darlingditzypinkfloweremoji

  • @FairPixVideos
    @FairPixVideos Před 11 lety +2

    Luke you may not be aware the lifting rams were slightly shorter on the early models. Crow's had the longer rams fitted after its first season, Parrish's was done when it had the backflash fitted. I think Eckl's still have the original rams. Henry Evans' Remix (now Wesley Gill's ride) was the first to have the long rams going 120 degrees.

    KMG rides are really popular in the U.S. and Europe. I think the late roller coaster and thrill ride designer Harry Traver would be stunned and impressed with the #1 choice. After all, he was the first one who patented the first swinging ride with rocket ships. 😌 I wonder why we don’t see too many of these high octane thrill rides at U.S. state fairs. We see many basic KMG variations and Star Ships but not the others. Also, it appears they operate the rides to their fullest capacity in Europe especially at German fairs during October Fest.

      ***** Funnest. But do rides have to be beautiful? Anyway, the richer countries of Europe like Germany, Austria, Holland, etc... probably have fastest rides too judging by how my country (Poland) opened our first roller coaster in 2007.

      ***** Well, I think there's scary and thrilling rides fairly in every country, but it in any case, it's better having money for more important places like hospitals rather than amusement parks. So that may explain this lack in some countries.
