Love this move. One of my favorite kung fu movies, my top 5. The final fight scenes was the best. Very good movie, you will enjoy it.

Great original storyline that deviates away from the usual kung fu flick plot. Amazing choreography with less fancy dancing and more hard hitting action. The end fight scene is insane! Hats off to Sammo and the talented group of individuals who created this masterpiece.

@@bencoster9938 I would have to think about it. I can't think of any which are better than the Victim right now. The Victim is probably my #1 kung fu movie until I can think one one that can beat it. It's pretty much flawless and there are no "bad" or "slow" points of the movie, it strings along quite fast with excitement and storyline.

It may come as a surprise to a lot of people that Leung Kar Yan was not a real martial artist. But he was one of those rare people in the world that could copy techniques and movements perfectly.
Depends what you call "real martial artist"? Learning a lot of techniques is part of the process?
@@DialecticDeveloper Real martial artist is a person who had formal martial arts training prior to entering the film industry i.e Lau KarFai, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, etc. After entering the film industry, Leung learned kung-Fu choreography which is not the same as real kung-Fu.
@@emmanuelkalaitjakis1875 I see your point, except that many actors do study martial arts seriously with opportunity to train with masters for films. Keanu Reaves is an example. This concept of who is a martial artist is amorphous. Some martial artists have no spiritual/meditative component to their training, for example, while others do. Is one more a true martial artist than the other? These are interesting concepts to consider. My guess is some of those actors learning on set for years intensely could use those skills for personal development, health, and a real fight.
@@DialecticDeveloper Well, we both have our own opinions. All I'm saying is that during that era, to be a kung-Fu actor, the audience demanded that you knew your stuff. Sammo Hung knew Leung better than we do. And according to Sammo , Leung was a limber athletic guy who could mimick movements impeccably. At that time, that was a rare find.
@@emmanuelkalaitjakis1875 Thanks. This is a really fascinating topic actually considering the number of Kung Fu movies that came out of China. Bruce Lee used to criticize the lack of realism in these movies. The lack of realism, though, is a reason for a lot of the charm of these movies. I see your point from a relative perspective. Most of the actors likely were not "serious" martial artists outside of acting, while some might have been. Many viewers might mistakenly assume these actors are serious lifelong dedicated martial artists, while some viewers might wrongly assume an actor was not a serious martial artist outside of the theater. The athleticism, characters, settings, and story lines usually stand out more than the fighting realism. Check out "Shaolin vs. Lama," more fighting.

This movie was awesome the action choreography was on point exactly outstanding plus the comedy. Movies of hong Kong starting from 1978 -1983 were awesome and funny of Jackie Chan,sammo hung and Yuen biao they never disappoint truly wonderful 🙏🙏🙏🤜🤜🤜💪💪
as a martial arts expert, I know for sure that sammo hung has met Bruce Lee, I learned Bruce Lee’s Chinese Kung Fu and Jeet Kune Do and I have been practicing taekwondo, Chinese Kung Fu, Kickboxing, Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do and Thai Boxing.

The end fight scene is filled with some of the most complex and brutal fight choreography I’ve ever seen. Sammo is an absolute master, as an actor, fight choreographer and film director. And it’s storyline is unpredictable which is nigh unheard of for this genre.
The fight choreography wasn't solely done by Sammo Hung. Wilson Tong and Yuen Biao major were major contributors as well.
My old man used to rent his TV. And i was watching these movies in china town. There was a shop were i could buy kung fu movies it was first film i bought .same time my pop rented VHS😊

Decent Kung Fu flick elevated by a cool twist ending. Beardy is definitely one of my favorites & Sammo Hung adds his usual humor & fun to the atmosphere. Add to that an emotionally charged family love story / triangle & countless kung fu action sequences & you've got yourself a recipe for a very memorable, classic kung fu flick.
This film is incredible, it is even better after rewatching it!! SIMPLY AMAZING!

On a first view this is one of my favorite kung fu films. I love sam hung movies and surprisingly I'd never seen the victim! Shout out to the big man himself, while he usually brought more entertainment to the stage than seriousness. He was a seriously talented martial artist, director, and action scene coordinator. He ranks up there with all the greats and he ranks high
Bryan Leung has always been one of my favorites.
'Master' always reminds me of a possible Asian Bee Gees member. His evil stepbrother looks like Sagat from the 1994 Street Fighter movie (eyepatch n 'all!)

Very great film, the first time I watched this film 40 years ago, and then 10 years ago watched again and today again but still very nice film , I like Sammo Hung actor , His movies always perfect.
Bryan Leung is the real actor, although he is no kungfu proponent, he really puts up a good fight with his adapted skills, bravo

Great movie as all commenters say ! Story line & cast to merge with description: "Chan Wing" & "Chan Hang" (Sammo) spends most of the 1st 3rd of the movie trying to get Chung Yao to be his teacher. YES you are reading this correctly, the double names occur and have in other kung fu films. "Yit Yin Wen" & "Yu Chee" is the wife. NOW description comes in to play as they show up at Chung's house. "Yu Ming" (Peter Chan) her brother helps "Jo Wing" & "Ye Tao Wing" (Chang Yi). Big fight there then another big fight after that one. "Fung Kin Ching" is (Wilson Tong). Wild card is one of last fights is a bonus ! The last fight has a double kick and interesting surprise ending. Kung fu in this film is simply outstanding. Sammo & Beardy fans are well pleased.

I still have fond memories of watching this on VHS so many times around 1988/89 as a nursery school kid.😂🤣 I can't forget those voices in Chinese & the theme song which I really liked. I had a very fine white shirt back then like the one the vampire in this film wore with a flowery collar.
IN my HUMBLE-OPINION this movie is not only about the conflict but Sammo’s CHARACTER IS ALSO THE SYMBOLIC EPITOME OF RESENTMENT and How not fighting for the things you love may comeback to HAUNT you!! 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

This film was hilarious, and so enjoyable, yut yi was so beautiful, great action, and absolute classic.
