Same here Tagalog ,Chavacano,Spanish,English . I took French in high schoolThats what I told my English Grammar & Literature Teacher Freshman Year Mr Dennis Campbell and the class what languages were spoken at home.He was. asked by the English and Foreign Language Department Heads ,of Manchester Township High School- Lakehurst, New Jersey circa 1980 ,1981 to take census of the students and the languages that were spoken in the household. My mommy and daddy were born and raised in the Chavacano Cavitiano province of the Philippines. In fact ,they mentioned their entire weddin g ceremony in 1963 was delivered only in Castlliano Spanish .The Priest was from Spain.Spanish and Philppine cuisine was prepared and served at the wedding reception. My maternal and paternal grandparents spoke all four languages . I still remember them with a big smile , affection.I am proud of my ancestral homelands .They made the Suarez Family who they are.One of my nursing college professors ,Ms Susan Miller RN said to me ' Your features look Spanish Rowena ' She rode us hard.I am greatfull .Rowena Suarez of Manchester Township , New Jersey y San Diego ,California

@@giustypapety7990 first of all, why would you force the Spanish language on the Filipinos that are literally colonial mentality 2nd Our ancestors literally struggled for 333 years to become independent from Spanish oppression and to have a right to practice our own Language. There is already a lot of Spanish speakers around the world don't you want to be unique? We are not White or Hispanic we are Asians. We are closer to Asia than Latinos. We may have Spanish Surname and Spanish last names but we are not like them. We are more Chinese than Spanish, we are more Malay than Spanish, we are more Austronesian than Spanish. Your plan to bring back Spanish through propagandist movements and media will not work because the majority of Filipinos are aware of the horrendous crimes the Spanish did even the simple child from the masses knows it. And like our ancestors, we will resist in every way possible you might even see a lot of protests. And why? for the love of all things why Spanish? why not Baybayin? and why not the Filipino language? children nowadays can't even speak straight Tagalog they speak in Taglish and it sounds terrible. If you want to speak Spanish go to Latin America a cesspit in the Americas or go to Mother Spain a failing economy in Europe. But leave the Filipinos out of this we don't want this or need this. What do we have to gain in this that we don't already gain from learning how to speak English? a far more resourceful language than Spanish. Just face it Spanish is dead in the Philippines and its for the better.

I understand the resentment towards Spain for the colonization but I just hate the hypocrisy when the country literally coddles up the other colonizer America, having English arguably more spoken than Spanish ever was and the culture we see today that for my opinion has led to many issues in the country. TBH I am saying this as a filipino american. I still love America no matter what because it is where I was born and believe in its integrity. I know they did many great things for the Philippines, gave my parents a better chance at a formidable life that would've been harder in the Philippines, but I still know they have caused issues in the Philippines but in many countries in general.
Spain has obviously caused issues too, but Filipinos today think they brought nothing when Filipinos have embraced Christianity for years, have developed festivals like the Sinulog, and gave us positives that Filipinos don't realize. Again Spain fucked a lot of history from the way past we should also try to learna nd implement but people don't get how cities like Manila were once so beautiful thanks to the Spanish. Those buildings from the past were actually very Filipino that was influenced from traditional FIlipino methods you even see today. It was arguably the best thing the Spanish gave and we threw it all away fro the BS buildings you see today.
I just think either from the good or bad we should respect positive influences from our regional and ethnic culture but even people who occupied us. Spain occupied for 300 years which sucked, but there are things I feel that has gotten disrespected from their times that were more Filipino than I see today and mixed with the overall Filipino culture.

This comment section screams "Pick me, colonizer! Pick me!". There is a theory that the Kingdom of Tondo was a thalassocracy dahil sa inpluensya nya sa mga trading routes ng timog silangang asia noon. Hindi español, o ingles ang kailangan nating pagbigyan ng pansin. We should think of how we can heal from colonization. Sa totoosin, napakabata pa ng ating bansa. Napaka sariwa pa ng mga sugat na iniwan ng mga mananakop. Hanggang ngayon, may mga nagbabantang manakop sa atin. We should re-learn the culture and traditions that are almost muddled and lost in time. Kasama na rin sa decolonization ang pag recognize sa fact na Filipino is Tagalog with borrowed words from English and Spanish. We should recognize that the enforcement of the Filipino language slowly kills other regional languages. Regional languages (Cebuano, Ilocano, Kapampangan and etc) ARE LANGUAGES. THEY ARE NOT DIALECTS OF THE "FILIPINO LANGUAGE". That is bullshit propaganda. Napaka lawak at ganda ng ating mga kultura. It is our duty to preserve our languages, cultures and traditions.

Not saying we are not homogenous we are indeed a melting pot of southeast Asia but our diversity is not mainly because of White or iberian people. Most of our diversity came from Malay, Chinese and Austronesians. Infact there are more Filipinos who have lineage from China than both Spanish and Americans combined.
