WELL said. My opinion exactly. This is one of the bands responsible for getting me into metal, and it's exactly that reasoning that led me to like them so much. The raw, kind of rough feel to the guitar is a big part of that I feel. Also, Hansi's vocals make up some of the most incredible voicework I've ever heard.
What an amazing performance. Hansi can't quite hit those high notes as consistently as he does in this video, which kinda stinks (but it comes with aging, oh well), but these guys are still awesome live. Watching them in person is a true experience.
Dave B Its not that he can't, but you can imagine he doesn't want to burn himself out. They play long sets and he manages to put forth a bunch of these wide ranged songs solely because he paces himself :)
@WinterTroll I have changed my mind, I figured that power metal was something i had to get used to, I hated those vocals before, now I love them. Stratovarius is actually great when you get used to it
