Love this story. I have a similar story, I met Zeb a month after I said goodbye to an alcoholic boyfriend. Last year that ex boyfriend, Landon passed from Stomach cancer he had a wife and three children. This made me sob. One day I will tell you the whole story. I know this life is not the end. Love passes through the vail in to eternities, and you never know what love is waiting for you ❤️❤️. I love that you ask God what to do, and you do it. You are such a great example to me.

Out-lived 2 husbands and had a horrible divorce in the middle. I won't bore anyone with the details, but this is what I make of it all.

I know that addiction is a lifelong struggle and sometimes it just overpowers the will and strength one has. I myself am an addict and have been clean for 4 years now. To get clean it was the hardest thing I've ever done. I believe he got clean for you Debi. That's so powerful!That's something you can really be happy about. I just started watching u last night & I don't even like tie dye... Lol. BUT something pulled me to watch this episode & I'm glad I did. Much gratitude to you for sharing ur story. I have the same book. I'm not a religious girl (but I am spiritual) I loved a guy for 7 years & he loved my kids dearly. The book isA book he gave me when I was struggling thru addiction. It too, saw me thru many dark times. I messed up that relationship, though we remain in touch. 16 years later, sober & married 2 man of my dreams--I still see that book on my desk & am grateful for it & the man who gave it to me & what it reminds me of daily. I put off watching this as I didn't think I had the capacity to process what you were going to say. I read some of the other comments first and got the courage to give it a go. I'm sure glad I did! My heart breaks for you, but at the same time I learned a valuable lesson. To never not take the opportunity to express concern for another living being. Words filled with sincerity and honesty are not always easy for the recipient to hear, but at least you have peace in your heart that you took the time. Sometimes the recipient hears the message and sometimes it falls on deaf ears, but you do what you can and is the definition of courage. I love you!

What a sweet video. The piece fit his spirit and was beautiful. When you truly love someone, I believe, you can't make a wrong decision. So if you stay or you go it is done in love--love for that person and love of yourself. We had a gentleman come to the hospital with multiple pressure ( bed sores) injuries. The nurses were upset that the wounds weren't healing. I am a wound specialist and for most lay people the skin shows the quality of care that the person has received. Ultimately he passed away but I explained to all of them that...I was proud of them. He was warm, well fed, clean and cared for. I didn't expect they would heal....but they were the best they could be at the time. It was enough.

When my mom passed, a very dear friend gave me the book "footsteps" in it he wrote " Your mom may no longer be with you, but she lives on in all those she touched, just like me". I've never forgotten that inscription. His words touched me so deeply. Well girl, Ali, truly lives on in you. And now he lives on in all of those that were touched by this loving tribute to him. Thank you for sharing this deeply personal story. And oh yeah, you are a teacher!!! Thanks for all the videos. It had come when I just had to surrender my faithful and unconditionally loving companion for the past 10 years, my little dog Jezebel Bean. I know she's not a human, but she was handed to me straight from her mother's womb (I was a veterinary nurse at the time). She was with me through some really physically and emotionally painful times, through 3 cross country moves, through a miracle pregnancy. Jezi unintentionally hurt my little girl by accident and my husband demanded that she needed to leave our home. She left this Wednesday to go to a Pug rescue.

Oh Debi! I can’t believe I’m just now seeing this video. How touching. Sometimes we have that “one person” that comes into our lives and from that moment on we are forever changed. I spent 8 yrs with one such person, my late husband who died of a brain tumor, that turned my world upside down and taught me what true love, loyalty, and acceptance was all about. He was an amazing person and even after now having been gone for over 20 yrs and now that I’m remarried to a wonderful man that I adore, I will still always look to those years with him and be eternally grateful. My heart goes out to you. ❤️

Hi Debi, thank you for sharing your heartfelt story of a true friend of yours. I am so sorry for your loss.
I had one of those once, he left this world as quickly as we had spent our short time together. He was like a whirl wind to me ...like a fresh breezy wind...one that took my breathe away. He called me "Hollywood" cause of my sun glasses I wore. A few days after his passing his sisters asked me over to his place to help them clear out ...we all grouped hugged at the end saying our good byes (with feeling his presence around us, hugging us all back - he was such a free spirit really). As I was leaving, I had got into my car and turned the key on, the car radio was blaring the song by Blood, Sweat and Tears - "You Made Me So Very Happy"! This brought me to tears, like his last words to me....funny thing...I was sure I turned the radio off as I always did before shutting the car engine off. - I will never forget.

I am in tears! Human beings really don't understand the meaning, purpose and plan for each of us in each others lives.
There's so much brokeness in relationships and people don't seek to reconcile, including in my life. It's so much easier to love, care, forgive and be in each other's lives but a hardened heart make relationships broken in so many ways.
I am glad you were able to reconcile and be there for him. Two hearts came together and that is beautiful!

Thank you for your beautiful story 💓💓... I know I'm a Lil late to the party on this video, but I've been binge watching your videos and they play randomly. I lost my husband, the love of my life passed 8yrs ago. I still struggle with this at times, but all you can do is take it day by day. Recently I decided I wanted to do something that used to make me very happy. You see, my husband and I used to install cabinets and build & install countertops. I did most of the finishes on any raw wood orders. I also did a Lil dabbling in some furniture refinishing for my home. Since his passing I haven't done one project. Over this last week I said I was doing it so I've been glued to FB marketplace, and binge watching your videos (with about 5 other beautiful ladies). I've been so inspired & feel that fire again. Although this video left me in tears😭, I loved your beautiful love story. Thank you for inspiration & allowing me to share with you a brief glimpse of my love story...💓💓💓

I’m a critical care nurse...the addiction issue is something I see almost daily. It pains me greatly (even after many years) to see the loved ones who suffer along with the patient. The feelings of loss never goes away...but with each loss I keep something from that person and/or family. Each one teaches me something. Addiction is such a big problem to overcome. I’ve worked with countless ppl get through some awful DTs ...and worse...it’s never easy...EVER..and it is ugly! I have lost pretty much all my family in the last 4 years....the feeling of loss doesn’t ever go away. I will tell you that you and some others (jami/zeb) have so inspired me and got me into something I never thought I’d love. Keep doing what you do...being who you are ...sharing your funny stories along with the sweet, sentimental, and sad stories too. I love when you talk about your mom...I miss my mom like none other...my dad too...lost them a year apart. Never thought my life would turn out this way. It’s certainly not what I pictured. I’m learning to love it in spite of all the ugly things. Painting and junking have become my passion..making pretty things I love out of crap. Looking forward to your sweet stories! Debi, I have been watching you for years. This video made me cry. Thanks for sharing your heart Debi, that takes true courage. Please pray for my son Chandler. He is battling addiction also. I know people can beat it, my grandma stopped drinking cold turkey after 30 years. It is difficult but it can be done. Glad you were there for your friend.

The other two weren’t sad, but there was something about your vulnerability and authenticity I found touching. I’m an Art Therapist and creativity is a high value for me. I fell for a guy who loved Grateful Dead. I got him tickets in 1987 to see them in concert, so he and a friend came from Colorado. He still does things he did, but I'm glad I am close to him mom. Love your music..it hits the spot.
I've had a similar experience. He was beautiful light that left too soon but I'm forever grateful for the time I had with him! I know we will see each other again in heaven! Still hurts and I will forever love him!

This video brought tears to my eyes. It's such a great reminder how addiction affects everyone else in our lives. Finding old furniture and collectibles, painting and restoring them, has kept me sober for 7 years. It also brought me to DIY paint and becoming a retailer in Portland, Oregon.
