    Hi there Mr Davis,
Greetings from the North Island of New Zealand Sir.
I drove an identical (1979) Kenworth (A model Long Hood) (Detroit Diesel 12V71 520Hp 13 speed Roadranger) identical to this in 1982 Hauling Sawn Lumber out of Portland Oregon to Los Angeles and return with building supplies and am now retired and living in New Zealand.
This Sir is a Wonderful and Expertly Restored example of how things use to be in the United States in that error of OTR.
Great memories of day's gone by ~ never to be repeated unfortunately !!!
Congratulations and Much Respect to you for the hours of work gone into the restoration of this most wonderful peace of Kenworth History ~ as far as I am concerned this was and always will be "Kenworth's Flagship" of that error.
PS: Thankyou to both yourself Ed and Chris Fiffie for this great Video ~👍💯👍

in the East & i had the only hood in the lot, most trucks back then were front wheel drives.
Most guys that drove trucks with V12 & 8V71 -671 Detroit's in them you could hear them coming mile away.
and when you got in the truckstop you knew who was driving a truck with a Detroit in it you could hear them
talking a mile away they were all deaf from all that noise & there right arm was bigger than there left arm from shifting gears & they all smelled like used oil & had greasy hands every one of them guys had 5 or 7 gallons + of oil in the side box, boy those were the days empty oil jugs laying in every where in the truck stop parking lots oil spilled all over the ground & if you leave it idle overnight for heat there goes another 3 gallons of oil ,I always had a hard finding a parking place in a truck stop WITHOUT A BIG OIL SPILL IN IT FROM THEM DETROIT'S BLOWING OIL OUT ALL THE SEAMS, NOT TO MENTION MAYBE 2 1/2 TO 3 MILES TO THE GALLON OF FUEL , & believe me i drove plenty of them OLD detroits my ears are still ringing from 40 years ago HAHAHA

Yes that is a nice show truck. It will probably never work again. Otherwise that 12v71 will start leaking oil. I have never met a Detroit that did not leak being a 2 cycle engine. I like the old Detroit`s I still drive them I learned to drive in a 1970 KW W900 318 Detroit and a 13 spd. No driving school back then just get in a drive. And learn how to maintain them. But I also still drive a truck with a KTA Cummins. That is one big engine for a truck there is nothing like doing a 16 gallon oil change on a truck. I have a part time job hauling mail these new trucks are plastic. There is nothing like a long nose KW or Pete. Keep up the good work I like to see what I call real trucks being restored.
