We've very few leaders in the squad. Butland is the standout for captain. Bringing in more leaders/experience is crucial.
Will be a great appointment he is the obvious replacement and totally gets the club, some of the great captains of the game have been goalies

I love Butland and he’s by far our best player and does seem like a natural leader but always think a captain needs to be out on the pitch running about and not stuck in goal. I don’t know if we have any stand out leaders in that team if I’m honest
Sterling looks a born leader
We shouldn't be even contemplating on selling butland at this moment maybe in 2yrs or so or he may even want to stay abit longer and get to like Scotland more.

Danilio could potentially play off the main out in out striker when he played in Holland he was more of a support striker rather than the sole striker
He was the lead striker and also played as a deep lying CAM. He may actually be a better alternative at 10 than Cantwell with another out and out striker in front. You may be onto something with that. @@stuartballantyne2823

In terms of Dessers to PAOK, I follow PAOK as well as Rangers, I have some Greek blood in me. I have friends that follow PAOK over in
Thessaloniki & I would not say Dessers is the type of striker PAOK would normally go for he simply would not tit the profile of the type of striker PAOK would normally go for PAOK tend to go for a striker that is technicality good on the ball & has composure on the ball.
Also, the
Greek Super League
season is one of the last to start in Europe, so even though PAOK have Champions League qualifying games comeimg up the expectation would be that the club would not make it though the level of expectation is not their at PAOK in anywhere near the level it is at Rangers

I suspect PAOK looked at Dessers last season, but I suspect that is as far as it has gone.
The max PAOK would spend would be between

€.4 million on any player
PAOK could afford Dessers, but the profile of
Dessers would not fit in with recent PAOK transfers.
We will see whaf happens, but to say I am highly sceptical would be an understatement.

I hope Butland becomes captain. We need to symbolise a new era and move forward. Loser groundhog day is not a good place to be, nor is it good to be stuck with the same faces and serial losers that throw away and bottle any advantage they get. Butland is a great keeper and talks well and has enthusiasm to win. I would like to see him as captain with Sterling, vice captain, and a new look starting defence in front of Butland. Do that and we have a chance of playing for titles etc. As long as we are rid of the deadwood. With Deadwood being Tav, Goldson, Davies, Matondo, Dowell, and Lawrenece. I also don't think Soutttar is good enough as a regular starter. However, he is alright for rotation, emergency cover, and the scottish quota.
give butland the arm band and dump tav on the bench keep him for second half so he doesnt run out of steam during a full game
Back in. Dessers was hoaching when he joined. He took time to adjust to the weight of the shirt and being the sole striker. If he stays he will improve. But he could revert being hoaching when the pressures off
Butland or Sterling should be handed the Captaincy next season whether Tavernier is still at the club or otherwise.Let Tavernier concentrate on actually knowing how to defend if he stays.And Joshua lighten up a wee bit mate.I have never seen you smile or laugh yet.....😅

What has changed, though, is that only captains are now allowed

That would now make it problematic to have
a Goalkeeper as captain
say a foul happens, we do not get a free kick, only the captain can talk to
the ref now about that situation, then he would need to sprint back to his goal A.S.A.P before the free kick is taken.
I agree, Butland would be the natural choice for captain, but it could be highly problematic.

Since when is that rule been implemented in domestic leagues. If it was like the Euros then the keeper who is captain can delegate someone to talk to the ref like a vice captain. How can your brain not even know this.

@@stewartbalmer1515 just cause its only in the euros. doesnt mean it needs to be in rules that is HAS to be only the captain, even if is it can still be delegated to the vice captain on field at that moment.

On the Davis point 1. He didn't come through our youth academy so we weren't entitled to anything and 2. We did get something we got 500k as Steven Davis stated to Southampton he would only join if they paid rangers that fee.
