They work AWSOME!! I clipped a few together and zip tied screen mesh to hold back "most" of the sand and small rocks. I did have to reinforce the legs under heavier rocks. light diffuser crating works better for heavier items. . My favorite part is still being able to hook up an airlift tube to the UG plate and run a aqua clear HOB off of it. Shrimp and fry safe UG filter is the way to go.

If you bought enough to line a bare bottom aquarium, it could be useful for fish that like to eat their eggs and/or fry. The eggs would hopefully fall through the holes, and the fry could hatch underneath those plates, at which point you could remove the parents. Not positive it would work, but might be worth a try. Thanks for these vids.

You don't even need eggcrates if you have 2 inch of substrate.

It will work but if you can find a old under gravel filter you can uses the pieces and lock them together. Cool video man
