Tysm for this! I just got mine, her name is nugget. She is a frizzle. Everybody told me not to name her nugget, but i just had to.
Nugget😂 it’s cute
I'm naming mine detective conan lol
My chicks name is nugget too 🤣
@@user-xi4gy3hd4p haha best name ever!
I miss my frizzle :C one day I woke up to see my baby Frizzle (yes I named it Frizzle and it’s a Frizzle i didn’t know any other names) dead.
What I took away from this, is that your love of chickens has a line, right at the point of sitting on baby chicks like a mama hen 😂
Only because I would smoosh them LOL
We use pine shavings. Bringing home chics is the best! My daughter wants some every year and we are like.. No. Remember they grow up 😁
They do! And fast lol.
I love how you state your opinions and then tell people to go do there own research, it shows that you care that everyone does what’s best for them
❤️🐥❤️
Same here
Thank you for these tips, I have been exploring the internet about what you would need to take care of chicks and eventually found one. Thank you
Yay!! So exciting!!
Hi new subscribers and fellow youtuber here from canada! You have great energy on your channel! We have 100 layers so will be watching your channel to learn more as there's always new things to learn!
100 layers???! Sounds like you are experts in “advanced chicken math” LOL! Thanks so much for watching. :)
Ahhhh...I'm on cloud nine! Dreamed of backyard chickens for as long as I can remember. Blame the Corona or "empty nesting" since my youngest is a 2020 high school grad, but I finally have my first little flock, they are soooooo adorable! Surprisingly I was most attracted to having silkies because of their wacky style and the friendliness but the others are showing me more love than I ever imagined and only after a few days!!! It's beautiful. I was wanting 3 or 4 but my hatchery only had unsexed silkies so they gave me 3 for the price of 1, if I get cockerels I can return them for credit. I'm in the city and we are restricted from having roosters...sorry boys! Chicken math 3+3=6...oops!! Anyway, I'm so glad I found you and this community. My question is about fermenting feed, scratch and peck starter can be fed dry or does it have to be fermented? I'm a bunny and pup mom but I'm new to everything chicken.
Hello! Welcome to Chickenlandia. ❤️🐔 Scratch and Peck starter can be fed dry or fermented. Sounds like you’re in for a lot of fun with your new flock! ❤️🐔
I love how silly and nice you are also how informative your videos are! Also I think its nice that your respond to all your coments!!!
Madam President, you have been a mountain if information and my "go to" for my first foray into raising chickens! God bless!
I used my old large guinea pig cage for my chicks. I'm so glad I'm not weird for using it.
Not weird at all!
Isn’t the holes in it too big and they can can out?
No. The bars are close together they can't get out.
@@samanthashaw4669 oh- okay cause yesterday my baby chicks ran and climbed the gates with the smaller net on it and went to my neighbor’s backyard
I just got 5 today and used the same thing. It's actually a good idea putting them in there for now
Awesome, this is perfect timing! I’ve already ordered most of what I need, now I know what’s left to get. Thank you!
Yay!! I can’t wait for you to get them!
Yay baby chicks. They are all so adorable. I can't wait until we can get them
I can't wait until you have them! They are so much fun.
We used to keep the babies in the bathtub until they were big enough to go outside! Awesome informative vid. I so need to get chickens again.
You do!! Chickens are LIFE!
Thank You So Much! This Helped Me To Take Care Of My Chick! Helped Me SO SO Much! ☺️😀
This video is so helpful, thank you so much
Just got my first batch of baby chicks! 10 little cuties! I got them when they were 2 days old, but now they are 4! I am using hemp bedding at the moment since that is what the farm store had them in and I wanted it to be the same! So far, I've had no problems with it!
Hi!!! I use the hemp bedding and it is Awesome!!!! No smell and it is softer on their little feet. I Love it and so do my girls!!
I'm expecting 3 baby chicks outside of baby chick season (didn't want to order them until my coop was done and apparently 2020 is the year of the chicken : 0. ) so I may be bringing them in and out this winter in Wisconsin. Been doing a lot of reading prepping for this so I feel somewhat ready. What a blessing to find your channel. Fun and friendly. Thank you
I'm so glad you are here! Good luck with your babies.
Nothing chick related, but I'm from Wisconsin too!
I love your enthusiasm your awesome and informational!
Thank you!
President of Chickenlandia, can you please make an in-detail video comparing the rearing (and breeding) of ducklings to that of chicks?
This video was so useful! Right now im incubating an egg and this video helped me in what i need tp raise them
I'm so glad!
I use a large tub with wheels. With 6 0r 8 baby chicks I can keep them in it about 4 weeks. With two of these rolling tubs I can transfer the chicks to the other one or a 2nd enclosure, I can take it out yo the yard and hose it out. In addition I have another on I keep the bedding in it. Both purchased at WalMart. I also cover the bleeding with puppy pads for a easy clean up. With living in Fl. I can move them out to the coop to finish growing them up. I confined them in the house for a couple of weeks and then let them out to the yard. All of the nest boxes were covered up with card board so they do not sleep in them. I will keep them closed until they are about laying age. I really enjoy your channel.
Hi,👋 loved the vid, now I know the things that I will need 😌👍👍
I did use hemp bedding with my last flock with no issues. Some did eat a bit of it which made me nervous but no issues. They're still a happy healthy flock of 5 :D
Awesome info for new flock owners, Madam President!
Rob
Thank you!!
My sister and I both used a guinea pig cage that she already had for a brooder and it worked great. It was validating to hear her mention it here lol 😅
Just got my first batch yesterday, they’re so gosh darn cute…. And I’ve been checking on them frequently lol
It's hard to keep eyes off of them when they are so adorable! No harm looking!
@@WelcometoChickenlandia I know!! I actually cleaned a couple of their bums this morning because 2 or 3 had a little poo around their cloaca, and I was worried it was “pasty butt”.
I just found two baby chicks wandering around our parking lot last night and at the moment i have them in a big plastic tub with a towel on the bottom and a little box they can go in. I have been feeding them oatmeal but we are getting feed tomorrow. I have no experience with chickens whatsoever but this vid was so helpful :P
I kind of bought a few chicks out of impulse and was gifted 5 more about a week after getting my initial 4. Im currently raising all of them and plan on gifting my mom a few when they get a little bigger and can handle the elements better. Cane across your channel and subbed insteantly. And i put them in my old guinea pig cage too 😅
Lol they are sooo cute! Can't wait until I get some! 😇
I love my radiant brooder!!!! 🐓👩🏻🌾
Isn't it the BEST?
Super
Very informative video
Thanks
I love watching your video..i like it..
Great video thank you President 😁
You’re so welcome!
I use dog pee pee mats for the bottom of my brooder. i never use medicated feed and my chicks are great!
Ahhhhh! Baby chicks are soooo cute. I think this is such a helpful video and really imorming and entertaning. Keep up the good work!
Thank you I had no idea what to do I have four baby chicks and I did not know what to do but now I know 😅🐥🐤❤️💖💞
Ok my kids and I love your channel and this video was sooooo helpful for us last year when we brought home our first batch of baby chicks. This year we want to try to hatch babies in an incubator to grow our amazing flock and so the kids can see life happen after our flock survived a traumatic dog attack last fall. We need a win and to build confidence again. Do you have any videos, tips, wise presidential advice about hatching in an incubator?! Thanks so much!!
thank you this has helped im getting some chicks!
How exciting!!
Love the marble idea!
It works great, unless you've "lost" your marbles! lol
@@WelcometoChickenlandialol mine have been gone a while
@@MaxMiniTV I knew you would say that LOL
Your videos are so fun!!
I’m really sad you got rid of that intro in your later videos, it’s so funny. “I made my own world” is such a good line.
This helps me a lot
“When that didn’t happen” oml 😂
It sure as heck didn’t lol
OMG I LOVE THE INTRO ABOUT SAVING THE WORLD 😂
(Also in new so new subscriber!)
Yay!!
Can I have a dust bath in there for them day 1 or should I wait? Mine will be here in 2 days. I'm super excited 🥰🥰🥰
I'm going to get some chicks tomorrow I'm so excited
Thank you.
I used nipple feeders for the first time and the chicks took to it right away ...saves the risk of them getting wet and also it doesn’t get dirty 👍🏻
NICE!!
Thank you 🙏🏻 💞🌷🌿🐣🐥🐔🦋🐝
We have 4 and we built our brooder. A week later, we were building a bigger one. 2 weeks later, we built a giant one. We way underestimated how fast they grow
That’s very common! They grow so fast and people don’t realize it. ❤️🐥❤️🦖
Hemp is really good
Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. 💕 NonnaGrace
You’re so welcome. ❤️
Thanks for this video i brot baby🐥🐥🐥🐥 chicks today and I am very excited 😉😉😉
Fun!!!
I’m soon to pick up my first chicks and I’m watching your video. about how many chicks could fit into a large guinea pig cage
Dang it woman! I was thoroughly ok with NOT having chick pangs this year...and then I watch this video. I had a bad case of “chicken math” 3 years ago..and don’t need any more! Now I’m super tempted again. Arrrgh!
Went to pick up feed at Tractor Supply tonight, and of course they’ve got little darlings in there- two were scream peeping (most likely in need of some tender loving immediate care- a.k.a they are probably sick and will most likely die soon in such conditions without knowledgeable care) and I had to tear myself away. I’m wishing I would’ve brought them home just so they can get adequate meds to survive. I really hate to see them suffering! And it’s typically easy to get them to survive when one knows how.
It really pulls on the heartstrings. Anyone else get this way?
Yes, it’s SO HARD! In fact, I used to do events at local farm stores when they got chicks in. But I had to stop doing them because there would always be a sick chick that I brought home!
I have 5 chicks one got pasty butt and died now I have 4 chicks they are all healthy and I am giving them treats.
Kombucha , probiotics
Feather fixer, put into food processor
Exact baby bird formula
Electrolytes powder mix carefully
Always a.c.v. 1 tsp in gallon spring water !only!
Farm supply stores do not stock 125 watt red light for a brooder. I had to order online.
I’m getting chicks tomorrow! Any more tips?
You may have already watched these but here is my baby chick playlist! czcams.com/play/PLRPX4o88mhhG-J9iXY2ZI4b7O0eicFma1.html
I have one but Im going to buy more so thanks
You’re welcome! 🐔
I just got my 5 little red pullet chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are sooooooo cute!
Yay!!
What kind of chicken would you recommend for my first chicken?
Well I don't have a big house I am in a apartment so I put it in a small plastic tub and I take care of them I hold them tight in my hands to make them warm
New subscriber!!!!!
Yay! Thank you!
I always mix turmeric or green tea or lemon in their water so that they can have their own immunity system ,if they have cold I just give them cinnamon water nd I found that in internet
I use the braggs apple cider vinegar in my dogs/puppies water too
Honi Vale Great Danes nice. I didn’t know you could use it for them. I assume it is beneficial?
Oh and I should mention I found you through watching Tim Schmoyer. 😉👍
Awesome! I just love Video Creators. Great people.
I
We’ve had our chicks for three days now and we didn’t start them on electrolytes in their water, in fact nobody has said anything about that at all this early. Should I go ahead start them on it tomorrow? Also, you mentioned grit, can I get that from any feed supply store?
Esiechick is a very good bedding!!
Oh my God you are adorable ❤️😇
ooo this channel seems fun but my granda said i cant subscribe to channels yet but rlly think u are a nice person!

Hello dear how are you,,
Nice to meet you,,
Love from Bangladesh ❤️
Great to meet you too!
I am from Bangladesh tooo
Tomorrow I am getting chicks home so can you pls make a video on how to make a home for chicks..
Hey! I have risen chicks before and I love them! But the ones I saved from the wild from a opossum (it killed the mama and 3 other chicks) and idk what breed these are. Maybe you can help me?
Good Morning, what about brooding the chicks in their coop
Hi, I bought pellet bedding and wasn't sure if it would allow good traction for their feet and most videos for chicks only showed pine shavings. So I can use the pellets? And can I use it until they go outside? Thanks.
You can totally use the pellets! I just use paper towels on them for the first few days. :)
My chickens always try to eat the pellet bedding so I only ever use it as a layer between mud and shavings. Is it bad if they eat the pine pellets?
Awwwww I NEED ONE
You do! But make sure to get more than one because they are flock animals.
Scarach and peck has a chick starter .can u use that for your baby chicks?
My mom bought 2 lil chicke so here i am looking for how to take care of them
Awesome!
Should I keep inside or outside
Hi I need urgent help, I have chickens however muma hen just hatched 7 healthy chicks however one of them was stuck in their egg I got it out and im not sure what to do next should I post a video on my channel and then you can see him?? 👍
Hi Dahlia, can I use round stones (drain rock) from outside in waterer instead of marbles? They are washed, with water only.
Yes!
@@WelcometoChickenlandia thank you. They have the Henny & Roo vitamins/probiotics/electrolytes in their water, they keep managing to get it on them from walking on the rocks in the water and their feathers are getting a little sticky from it. They hatched Monday, shipped and I picked them up yesterday morning. They are all doing very well, is it too soon to switch to some vinegar water?
Thank you, you're so funny
🐔❤️🐔 thanks!!
Your hilarious😂❤️
I will be getting 6 baby chicks in April. Five hens and one rooster. I have a 40 gallon tub to put them in, but do I need to get another one so I have three in each tub; since they might outgrow the one tub????????
Do you have any videos on water belly? How to drain it/ experience with it? :(
I don’t. :( For water belly I would definitely suggest veterinary care, but I know that’s not possible for many people. There are some videos on CZcams showing how to drain water belly that you could reference for help. Keep me updated!
Hey I was thinking to get some chicks and I wanna keep them as a pet.
Nice!
Do you think you can make a video on how to make a chick follow you, just yesterday we got 6 chicks and 2 ducks.
Awww! Handle them a lot (but not too much that they get stressed out) and they should be tame and follow you as adults! Especially if you have treats LOL.
I love your laugh! Wonderful videos!
Would you suggest vaccinating chicks?
And heat
Where do you get pellet bedding? Does it come in bulk?
I’m not sure if you can get it in bulk? I’ll have to look into that! It likely depends on where you live.
I Love one black chick and one white chick. i am buying the two chicks and I would care that Chicks❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏
Yay!
☺️
helloooo - Wasn't sure where to post Q. Will be ordering my first chicks. I am choosing 3 Rhode Island Whites that hatching Aug 2nd and 3 Rhode Island Reds that will hatch Sept 13th. It is March and my coop is nearly completed, but I need to build a run and then another fenced yard semi enclosure for semi free range so I need the time anyway to get projects done, I'm in a very hot climate in sw Texas so 95_ degrees temps everyday in Aug and 90s into Sept. Is buying chicks a month and half apart sensible or stupid for a first time? Or should I just wait and do one order of what is available? I want the friendliest and heat/cold tolerant birds. These seem to fit the bill.btw Winter here we can get down to 20. Thank you!
Hi I recently started watching your channel . So my chicken is a broiler chicken and had set on eggs and has hatched chicks i am afraid of cats attacking the chicks . It is the first time for her to become a mom wat should i do.
Can u show how to treat saddle leg in chicks and for how long to treat
This blog post may be helpful for you: welcometochickenlandia.com/blog/splayed-leg-and-curled-toes-the-best-treatment-ive-seen/
I have a chicken-laying egg from the rooter bar and the egg is cracked every time. Any suggestions on how to train the chicken to go to the box?
Thank you
Is she new to laying? Sometimes it takes new layers a little bit to figure it out!
Could you please advise a probiotic/vitamin/electrolyte mix for my young chickens... I'll be moving them from my wark yurt to a small coop outside in January (I'm on north VI) and want to help them transition easily (they haven't ever been outside)...Also, first time chicken owner, so any advise is very welcome :)
I really like the one from Henny and Roo. You can find it here: hennyandroo.cratejoy.com/shop/product/1653735222
And this video might be helpful when you are moving them outside, depending on the temperatures where you are! :) czcams.com/video/oaceFGLVSfQ/video.html

I have never though about the guinea pig cage before!! Dang. I got rid of mine!!
