  • Welcome to the first Qantas video on the channel! I’m on the way to Sydney to fly the mighty Qantas A380 but in order to get there I’ve got to shuttle myself over from Melbourne.
    This was my first experience on a domestic flight in Australia and I must say that it’s far better than most European and American carriers..
    Qantas offers a good IFE, free Wi-Fi, great crew and perfect lounges, even on their domestic flights!
    The day started in the Qantas Business Lounge where we experienced some crazy thunderstorms right above MEL airport slightly delaying us, but the view was worth it. Plus I didn’t mind staying later in the lounge as for a domestic journey it is great, putting many other Western airlines to shame.
    Join me on this short trip on one of the busiest routes in the world and standby for my perfect Qantas A380 experience.
    Have a great one mate, enjoy!
    Today we are showcasing you the following flight:
    From: Melbourne International Airport, Victoria, Australia
    To: Sydney International Airport, New South Wales, Australia
    Flight Number: QF402
    Aircraft Type: Boeing 737-800w
    Registration: VH-XZC
    Flight Time: 01:05
    Don’t forget to like and subscribe if you enjoyed our video!
    Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion and feedback.
    Have a nice one!
    You can also leave a Super Like as a tip for my work. I’ll invest it all on future trips.

    Great flight report, Tulla might not be the flashiest airport out there but it's adequate for the amount of traffic ... and it does have its own Emirates First Class lounge ... and that counts for something 😎🥂 Glad you enjoyed yourself here ... hope you get back again sometime ... 🥃🥂🍷 Safe travels my friend. 🥂

      @@deanmeixnertbh we need to start again. We have all that land on the other side near the golf course and control towers. A new terminal that can cater for the growth. It could be connected to the domestic on the other side by an underground people mover and a link road off the Tulla Freeway. That’s how I would handle it. The issue is the current terminal has had bits tacked on again and again so it’s become a rabbit warren. I don’t think you could expand it much more .

      It depends on the rules in a particular country, but in most places you can leave them off from sunrise to sunset. It is done in most north European countries (they have a strong savings mind setting). I was tormented by my dad to save light bulbs in the house, so it does not surprise me he did the same on his B767 or B747.
      I think myself it’s best to leave them on as it’s easy to forget you left them off.

    So many Australians have done that flight so many times, and we do have a high proportion of frequent flyers between capitals and earning on FIFO work. I fully d the 30” too tight - I cannot lower the tray table unless my feet are under the seat in front. Nice to finally see my home city in one of your vids! Remember it’s our summer - December to March. After a few days of hot weather when a cool change comes through we often get a storm like that. But it barely lasts an hour or so (there can be exceptions) and sometimes no rain. Because it’s summer sometimes storms like that can hit a tree and start a bushfire. I think half our bushfires are started by lightning strikes in summer.

    I've flown on one of Qantas' older -800s and it was simply awful. I was seated in seat 1D so my bags were not permitted to rest on the floor. Unfortunately, there was no room in the overhead locker so the purser stowed it in their personal closet. My recline function was broken and the seat didn't adjust. The footrest was stuck on the floor and the upholstery flaked off of the seat. The PSU had panel gaps and the lights in it didn't work, and the window shade was stuck in the 1/2 down position. Additionally, the oven was broken so my Business Class lunch was served cold and soggy. Overall, it was not worth the money despite the hour-long sectors I flew from Sydney to the Gold Coast round-trip. They lost one of my checked bags too! (VH-VYI/VH-VXA)
    On the A380 where I also flew business, the cabin crew actually forgot to serve my meal to me and somehow remembered everyone else so I had to ask them and go the galley about an hour after meal service commenced. They also forgot to pick up my tray at the end. I have a nut allergy, so they gave me one singular Lindt Milk Truffle (costs less than $1) when I spent over $9000 on the ticket.The inefficiency of Sydney Airport caused us to land an hour late in Los Angeles, making me nearly miss my Delta connection. The transfer bus in Sydney is AMAZING though. (VH-OQG twice)
    I'd rather fly with one of the SkyTeam airlines that serve Oz instead since the service and hard product are far superior. I fly Qantas fairly often to visit family down under and I can say that they've degraded significantly in the past decade.

    Hola Amigo! Finalmente!! Was in anticipation of your Qantas report. Poured a Campo Viejo for watching this video. Great report as always. Protocol when I flew 747 was always have navigation lights on! Both on KLM and Air NZ. Nice to see some Air NZ planes in your report! Still think Livery is stunning. When I finished on the 747 livery was very blend light green. Especially the All Blacks livery planes like the 777-300ER really stands out! Anyway, with QF you have attributed greatly to your experiences! Well done!! Next one, the great beast! Can't wait! Don't let us wait for 2 weeks mate! Heel veel dank en goed gedaan! Hartelijke groet, Flip.

      Amigo! I don’t know if I told my Campo Viejo story.. I hold that wine dear to my heart as it was the first wine I got to drink. I fancied this girl when I was 20, she was older, and when she invited me over for dinner there was this Campo Viejo bottle. I had no idea about wines, just mixers and beer, so I pretended to like it. And each time I would go there would be Campo Viejo as she thought I loved it. And I learned how to love it, and it eventually made me the wine lover I am today!
      It’s nice indeed to see some different planes at the airport. Even I am not used seeing Air NZ except for in LAX and LHR. Gorgeous plane!
      Thanks for writing and keep enjoying that Campo Viejo!

      I’m super used to it.. But yes, it’s like a constant fatigue. So used to have super short rest periods at random timings. But still function at 110% so that’s good!

    You do find IFE in Europe, on Turkish Airlines.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  Před 6 měsíci

      I don’t really count TK as an Euro carrier as they’re not an airline to fly for intra European flights. Most people connect to Türkiye and beyond.
      But yes, TK is otherwise top!

      No idea.. you would have to contact the airline! It really depends on them.

    I wonder why the takeoff place and landing place in your video info are Emirates themed?

    How much did you pay to fly Qantas to Sydney? I am curious, is that your 1st time flying domestic flight in Australia and how is it?

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  Před 6 měsíci

      It was part of a ticket that included a connection to Hong Kong and costed around $1,100 one way. Flying to/from Australia is expensive!

    • @kevin19358
      @kevin19358 Před 6 měsíci

      I see. When I flew Jetstar from Honolulu to Sydney last May, it's around $200 to $300 and it's cheap. When I flew Scoot from Melbourne to Singapore last May, it's less than $400 and it's cheap.

    1: Believe me - there are NO Aussie rules that stop Qantas serving alcohol in their lounges in the AM other than being cheapskate. PS: there are no Aussie rules as alcohol rules are set by the individual states. Not the federal government. 2: Most Aussies are not fit. We are just as overweight as many nations. And eat just as much junk food.
