    Since getting a Garmin HRM, I’ve noticed the day after drinking alcohol my resting hr is 2-3bpm higher than a normal day.

      Yes alcohol stresses the heart as the acetyleldahyde poison literally weakens the heart temporarily. That & dehydration yes plays a big role. Crazy stuff.

    I never drink alcohol but I had three glasses last night at a wedding and didn’t drink any water. I was walking along a cliff taking photos in the sun in Australia in the morning. I felt so bad like my heart was going to explode and my Fitbit said it was 147 bpm. I quickly got off the cliff face and sat in the shade but I felt like I couldn’t get any air into my lungs, my heart rate is usually in the 80s I’m going to go to the doctor, it was terrifying.

      Yikes - it sounds like your body doesn't like alcohol at all. Have you had a similar reaction to alcohol in the past (if you have consumed previously)?

      @@CoachRobbBeams thanks for your reply yes I’m in my 40s now but when I was younger I used to drink a lot and I would often pass out & I could never sleep. When I drank my heart would beat really fast & I’d be awake all night. My heart is back to 75-85 now. That was so scary yesterday, my Fitbit said it was up to 161, never had that happen before.

    My mom is in the hospital right now because she has a high heart rate. They are giving her medicine to bring it down. I think it might be dehydration. We live in the desert and its been hot the last few weeks. And you sweat without realizing it. The crotch, armpits and feet if your wearing socks. And there is salt in everything you to preserve food and make it taste better. Too much of it. You think that might be correlated.

      @@CoachRobbBeams session today was 3x2k in 7minutes per rep. I felt absolutely awful during them . After uploading to Strava I checked my heart rate it read 200bpm on each interval (I'm 52) so I now know why I felt awful during. I have been taking a lot of protein powder ,do you think I was very dehydrated because of the intake of protein powder

    • @CoachRobbBeams
      @CoachRobbBeams  Před 3 lety

      @@markking8801 Thank you for the clarification! The protein isn't causing dehydration per se, it as more than likely fermenting in your belly because of the heat associated with the intensity levels (if it was hot and humid, this added to the fermentation). Allow 2 hours between your last solid meal and the start of your workouts/race. This allows for digestion, absorption and time to go to the restroom. Let me know if you have any questions and thank you again for taking the time to watch and comment.

    Since I lost weight a little too quickly I've been dealing with dehydration and don't know how to keep the balance I've been having to drink a ton of water

      @CoachRobbBeams  Před rokem +2

      Tay - take your current body weight in pounds and divide it by 2 (i.e. 150 pounds / 2 = 75 ounces) and consume over a 9-10 hour window of time. This will keep you from consuming too little or too much. Please give this a shot and let me know how you feel. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

    When I get dehydrated after running...My heart beats fast why??

    • @CoachRobbBeams
      @CoachRobbBeams  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your question! As you dehydrate, the volume of water in the blood decreases even though the oxygen demands of the muscle stays the same (or increases). Less oxygen can be carried in the blood because the size of the cell decreases. Your HR has to elevate to meet the oxygen demands. Let me know if you have any questions!

    I like to think I hydrate pretty decent whenever I ride but I've noticed on days when it's hot and I exert a lot of energy I get disabling headaches like load up and go home and sleep the rest of the day with the lights off type of headaches it gets bad to the point where sometimes I don't even ride and that's a problem any advice would be so so helpful

      Thank you for your comment! Please drop me an email Contact@CoachRobb.com and let me send you a Sweat Rate Calculator. Your goal is stay between 1-2% loss (no more or less). The spreadsheet is easy to use and will help identify the correct replenishment rate. Your conditions souind like a combination of dehydration and electrolyte depletion. Let's test your sweat rate at various durations, intensity levels and bounce against the temperature and humidity levels (all documented within the spreadsheet). Speak with you soon!
