Amazing footage! That looks like a huge/colorful fish (do you know what kind?) the bird caught! The fish was struggling, but the hungry Heron managed to fully consume (alive?!) it all okay? It looked like the unlucky thing was desperately flapping sliding down that long throat! I wonder, does the large fish stand any chance of escaping if eaten in that condition? Maybe it can turn around inside the elastic throat/stomach and has a chance of survival here.
The fish is a Carp, they can get to be several colors from Brown, Orange, to Redish. To me they are big Gold fish, grown large in the wild..I doubt the fish has a chance to escape once the hungry Blue Heron gets it beak on it..Did you notice the fish has to slide down Face first other wise its fins would catch in the birds throat and most likely kill the bird..

It’s a fascinating capture, that makes sense about it needing to slide in face first.. the unlucky fish already seems in that position from the start. I wonder, does the Goldfish’s struggling actually propel it quicker down? It seems balled up in the Heron’s neck toward the end too. Wouldn’t this stop the fish’s descent and it would be desperate to wriggle back up??
