Scotto’s newfound welding skills are coming in handy, since our transmission mount wasn’t exactly built around our exhaust location. So with a little help from master Suppy, the mount gets opened up, and we finally send this thing off to paint. But oh, wait… did we ever pick a color??

Was the first thing I was worried about too. Had a new cross member put in my G8 when the trans was swapped. Rattled like no tomorrow and made me not want to drive the car about. in this case the motor will probably be plenty loud to drown it out, even at idle.
They might be able to use some sort of exhaust wrap as padding

@@rx8tom There are like a thousand ways to fix this problem everyone seems so worried about, but yeah, exhaust wrap would fix it in like 10 minutes and as many dollars.

Because of Honnigan, Dan, Suppy I learned how to TIG weld a year ago I specialize in alloy wheel repair. The just send it attitude made me find something I actually love to do.
More series' like this fellas! I know with everyone's schedules etc., this isn't always feasible but damn is it the BEST to see everyone at the shop into a project together.

10:56 thank you I always put the bolts back and everyone always asks why or takes them out calling me stupid. I care and don't wanna lose them.
I do that a lot too. Even though i try to label and sort all the parts of a project i still forget which bolts go where, and this is the easiest way to prevent that.

Since I ever first saw a donk (on the Netflix show Fastest Car lmao) I immediately fell in love. Can't wait one day to build my own! Much love to y'all from Canada, keep up the killer work on that beauty.

No one on youtube has done all that spectacular of a job when it comes to filming welding, but it also serves to remember that the camera's sensor is attempting to see would typically blind someone. Welding is not an easy thing to film, but neither is filming inside or outside a car going 180mph. I'd love to see the film and fab teams collaborate on making a nice tripod adapter for a welders mask for the camera to "wear".

If you are to do things right, back purge when welding stainless, it'll prevent cracking in the future

you only back purging when flow matters, or you don´t want some scraps from you´r welds to come loose. Like a intercooler piping and stuff like that. For a exhaust that dosent matter.

Make sure when you sharpen you’re tungsten the grind marks on the point are going down to the point and that’s how you will get you finest puddles most controlled

I really love that you guys use all the protective gear, I used to scream at the guys on American chopper for not wearing gear, secretly hoping the get zapped. I only say this because my welding instructor was put in a wheel chair for half a year when he accidentally backing into a live table.

Suppy you’re not purging the stainless exhaust pipe with argon. This is how sugaring (porosity) happens. Cleaning everything with acetone will also make the welds look much better in the finished stage.

The Donk looks good boys.... but you Need electronic dump outs on the exhaust. Instead of putting just caps and Bolts on ... plus who wants to crawl under there and Unbolt that. So much cleaner so much easier to just push a button and the exhaust is open straight headers.. 👍 keep it up guys looks good.

Suppy's tig wields are on point.
Next level table, now you need a next level chop saw. I got an evolution carbide blade saw, and don't miss the abrasive saw one bit.
Use a loud valve on cutout. As the boost comes up the valve opens. No getting hands burnt or wiring.
tig welding is similar to gas welding in the process use your dominant hand for the filler rod and it will go easier especially if you you wont see your twenties again
Hey, idea. Extend the break peddle on the merch truck to go around the steering column so you can right foot drive. Lol take one of those auto zone foot peddles turn it side ways and notch it out.
