Thanks to you I fixed my Navman. A Q-tip and electronic contact cleaner cleaned the residue from the old strip left on the circuit board. Some of the contact material on the glass came off with the old tape, but I trimmed the new conductive strip and plastic display backing to make a contact.

thanks a bunch from posting this video. I was able to find a backlight display from winstar (p/n WH1601A-YYH-JTK) 16 caracters and 1 line with back light. cost R$20,00 - US$ 11,10 each. as mentioned by others bellow its necessary to put a 1 to 3 mm foam among display and front cover, specially to repair a Multi 3100 unit due to ribbon lenght (in the middle sometimes lack of pressure). mi multi 3100 and wind 3100 are functional again. I am happy you ere able to extend the life of your equipment....I may indeed go back and add the 3mm foam to the face of the LCD as outlined by p26byc as one of my displays is still temperamental....

Hey Darren, i have one "donor panel" here on the boat. Printed on the side of the box is " PM-1028A. LCD Panel Meter 9V INDEP"
    CIRCUIT-TEST ELECTRONICS
I bought this locally in Victoria, I am quite sure you should be able to find one in a local Electronic DIY store such a Fry's. There is one in Renton...
These are not special panels and you don't necessarily need to purchase the same one that I did. They all contain the elastomer connectors that will be used for the repair.

Hi Terry, Great video. But I have a different issue with my 3100. The masthead connector (which is an aluminum tube with cups and vane) is ripped of the wiring and I do not now how to fix it. The small connector is a 5-pin, number 1-5. The wires are colored red/black/yellow/white/blue.
They should be corresponding with the mast wiring, which has a different color coding: green/white/brown/red and a blanc (stripped) wire. How matches the color of the masthead to the mast colors? Hope you know!?

I know how daunting the other option is...not just the money for new instruments but the time to remove and replace all this networked stuff....I will at sometime do just that...hopefully in a few years from now.

Hello Terry, with your help I came up with the dimensions and ordered some Zebra connectors back in 2011. I also found where one of our Pals is charging $80.00 for the longest connector... What a RIP OFF. I personally posted all the FujiPoly America info back in 2011 (on a couple Sailing Sites) after spending hours on the phone to locate a suitable connector (and mailed a bunch out for Free). This is a $.45 connector, the problem is being able to buy them. FujiPoly Series 2004, White Barrier H .299"x W .118" x L. 2.283" (This is the 58mm part.) I still have a few that I'm willing to help other Sailors with. If you need one or two email me. (Yes what WIlliam Moe said!)

I am located in Kingston Ontario I have the exact same problem. I would love to get one of these connectors but have no idea where to look. I would pay for postage and more for one of these. I am hoping I can achieve this fix but the video is assume. Thanks Don

I have the Fuel flow meter 3100, and have been unsuccessful in obtaining a good connector. All I have pulled from old Lorans, and other instruments are either too short, too tall, or the conductors are too thin. If you still have a 58mm I would really appreciate it. shoot me an email at dadsgearcloset on yah00 dot com misspelled on purpose

1957Panman I have a few of these needing repair, having bought replacements (used from eBay) I'd like to fix the ones which have problems. Where do you get those connectors? I hate the idea of tossing away an LCD screen to salvage one part. I see Alibaba has hundreds of vendors selling them...
