- I just purchased a new 2024 YT Decoy e-Mountain Bike. In this video I review the bike after riding it for 100 miles and provide some guidance if you are thinking of purchasing one. I now own two eMtb's and plan to ride both and invite friends along to ride one of them from time to time. I will be posting more videos about my ride impressions and how it compares to the Canyon Spectral On. I will also post reviews of upgrades I make to both bikes.
I post trail explorations and related reviews weekly highlighting the trail and/or what I'm using to explore; mostly with bikes but also by foot, ski's and more. If your interested please consider subscribing and following along. Maybe you will discover some trails or ways to explore them that you haven't considered before.
...And thumbs up to you for even thinking about it - double thumbs up for getting out there and doing it.

Valuable resource for anyone considering purchasing the bike or exploring eMTB trails 👍 Thanx Millions! Amazing ❤
Wonderful feedback, thank you. You make doing these worthwhile!
I’m sure you will be fine with that. You’re kinda in the middle and the large will probably be more stable plus you can get the 900 Whr battery in it.
Thanks Ryan!
Good vids man, I will try some of you rattling fixes.. I'm loving mine got it in Dec and have been going hard on it..
Awesome, I’m looking forward to spending lots of time on this bike this summer.
Wow, I like the place where you live man! It is beautiful out there!
Thanks, and 100’s of miles of Mtb trails off the doorstep. Wasn’t really something I knew about when we moved here so can’t believe our luck!
Helpful tips here! I haven't noticed any cable rattling on my bike yet, but will keep an ear out for it. I ordered a new coil that was actually 2 sizes stiffer than what the Large came with. Also don't like the matchmaker for the dropper post lever where it attaches to the brake clamp. I wonder if there's a way to change it out?
Can you make a video on spring replacement.
Sure. Might be a few days.
Great video, thank you
Do you prefer this on the Caynon?
Both are great and have different advantages. I’ll post something on that soon.
Looks sick man. Ride it to Full Belly Deli for lunch
Hey, you know it - they make the best sandwich of any place I know! Hey, have you ridden Martis Peak area? Awesome trails which will probably only get better with Donkey Town closing down for forest maintenance for 3 years.
@@roadlesstraveledtruckee No but I will try it out thanks man. I just had a knee replacement a few months ago and am feeling great. Just got my Northstar pass so super excited.🤘🔥
How tall are you ? Considering the YT and the Canyon but sizing is confusing, Thanks ! 🤠
I’m 5-9, but…. I have an ape index of 3” and long arms actually mean a lower RAD measurement (less reach sort of). All very confusing and sometimes contradictory advice out there but bottom line for me is that I’m happy with the size I have in both bikes. Medium Canyon and Large YT. The two bikes sizes are equivalent in my opinion.
@@roadlesstraveledtruckee thanks for the info, I’m 5-8 and thinking of getting the Canyon in size medium, hope that will feel right for me, they recommend a small
Dude you didn't mention the headset that limits the steering? I have 2 friends with that bike and both are not fans of the steering limiter, though we do like riding tighter trails.
Oh, interesting. Haven’t noticed that yet. Now I’ll pay attention. Thanks, I think…
I just checked and it’s the same as my Canyon so probably why I didn’t notice. That and I’d probably go over the bars if I tried turning as sharp as you… thanks for checking out the video.
The purpose is to prevent the fork from hitting the bike and also pulling our the cables.
Hey guys, yes the Knock block is shitty. Made it feel like a DH bike w a dual crown fork.. I have an XL (normally ride a L) and I removed the headset, good bye. I replaced it with a works components 1 deg angle set.. I made it 1 degree slacker then put the bike in the high position for more clearance and a perfect 64 deg HA.. Plenty of clearance and no more limitations... I think it would work on a Large as well..
There are rumors about a new Decoy model coming up
Interesting. I am very happy with the current one. The EP801 motor is a great improvement over the EP8 for climbing. I’ll show this in my next video.
On the E Mountain Bike if your motor doesn’t have zero Kayden support that’s a very big issue. I would never ever by the Shimano mobile. Why the Yamaha motor and I guarantee you’ll never wanna go back to the Shimano ever again
Well I have a Yamaha. The gentleman that made the video has already stated he was not fond of the low engaging hub.
Even with an onyx hub, which has instantaneous engagement, the best you can hope for is 52 poe with the Yamaha.
With the Shimano motor and a Onyx Hub you will have true instantaneous engagement.
I've had my Yamaha motor Replaced in less than 1 year, 2 buddy's with Brose motors had their motors replaced, none of my buds with shimano have needed to warranty their motors.
As far as I know, Brose and shimano are the only full power motors currently produced that still offer instantaneous engagement.
I am not a fan of the motors that have less than instantaneous engagement.
