    Stenson said it best and play the most forgiving clubs you can stand to look at. I put some more forgiving irons in bag (ping i230) and more forgiving driver, first non low spin model (ping g430 max). I’ve played my best golf this year with this mentality.

    I had center contact with my old cheap driver and with my r15 tm i was straight up heel striking and couldn't move away from it at all. I pulled the shaft off the cheap and put a tm tip on it and am now using it with the r15 head! Weighed the old cheap head n matched the new one too it with way better results with contact. Not quite center but i can move the contact around now. I added 9 more grams of center weight and I'm going to try it Sunday on the range!

I can swing easy in the 170s ball speed and mid 180s if I jump on it. But in competitive rounds I can’t take the driver out the bad because it’s not reliable. I just hit a driving/4 iron or hybrid off the tee. I feel like if I could get the driver in play more often it would significantly lower my scores. It’s the only club in the bag I consistently struggle with. What are the best ways to become an accurate driver of the ball? Or what modifications to equipment would you suggest?

    How high launch is too high. I launch at almost 17 degrees with similar swing speed and ball speed to you. I have a Mizuno stz with shaft is lowest setting. Definitely too much spin and I get 0 roll. I am happy to be carrying over 260 with straight flight. But it sucks to be out driven by people hitting 240 but rolling past me.

    • @kevinoneill2170
      @kevinoneill2170 Před 11 měsíci +2

      That's a bit too high launch probably based on your assumed swing speed. If you're really carrying it 260 then your swing speed is probably in the 105-110mph range, maybe even faster. Ideal launch angle is about 13 degrees give or take a degree (maybe two, depending on your swing characteristics). You say you have your Mizuno ST-Z driver set to the lowest setting on the shaft adapter, but you don't say what the stock loft, either 9.5 or 10.5. Either way, on the Mizuno drivers, when you set the loft to the lowest available setting, you are making the driver's lie angle more upright. The stock lie angle is 56.5 degrees, and when you set a Mizuno driver to its lowest loft, the lie angle will be 58 degrees, 1.5 degrees more upright. Setting the loft to its lowest setting also closes the club face 4 degrees. These setting changes could be affecting the way you swing and deliver the club into impact. It sounds like you are probably hitting it too low in the face, which would lead to the high spin ball that balloons up in the air, lands too steep (ideal land/descent angle being mid/high 30s degrees, maybe low 40s at most), and doesn't roll out. You could also be coming in too steep with your swing delivery and hitting down on the ball, which could also be contributing to the high spin.

This was back when Tiger was only player on tour still using a DG in his driver. Butch was very specific not only on his aoa but how consistent he was. It was something like +2.6* and NEVER varied by more than +\- 0.1*. He said he’s never worked with a player who was better than +\- 0.5*.
      Given how Tiger has always used among the strongest lofted drivers on tour, 7.5-9.0, it would be highly improbable he would ever have a negative aoa w/driver. A player w/negative aoa would commonly have relatively high driver loft, such as Rahm and his 10.5* driver.

    • @TTDefender
      @TTDefender Před 11 měsíci

      There is no one ideal shaft for that scenario. It depends on timing, transition, release point and even manufacturer and model. First - there is no fixed definition for shaft flex. A MRC Grand Bassara in R will be way different from a PX 4G black in R. Secondly -there is no universal way to measure torque. 5 Inch clamp, 7 inch clamp, different weights, different levers….heck, some manufacturers even clamp butt and tip and measure torque in the middle of the shaft. Thirdly - there is your personal preference…what you want to feel, when swinging your club. To cut a long story short: go and get fit.
