Thank you to Everyone who helped these two!! They are very loved . Bread makers are wonderful. Glad you guys are OK!
big thumbs up for the irish covid support crew!
May God bless them for many years to come.
Very true! Many people have avoided being near anyone sick adding to the experance of illness isolation and depression. You were truly blessed by a few angels in your port while recouping!
Absolute pleasure to have you on board Aphrodite for the evening Mads
How you managed to create such a well produced & charming vlog, whilst going through Covid, is quite incredible.
Wonderful!
Good luck both.
@@Abc-kf4qx I can tell by your asinine remark you've not had to deal with covid .
@@william6526 Thank you Will. Your comment is on the mark. Can't tell you how many people I took care that are no longer with us.
@@jeffmack4995 I'm so sick of these ignorant people who keep saying it's no worse then the flu. My wife and I were fully vaccinated and boosted and we are fighting covid now. I'd hate to think what would of happened being in our 70s if we'd not been vaccinated an boosted. Even being vaccinated and boosted both the wife and myself have never been this sick before. I'm sure at best we would of been hospitalized or worse.
@@william6526 Go watch some Russel brand or something. You clearly are not on this earth
@@rubin437 covidiots, follow the science and try and stay current.
Great music selection accompanying the breathtaking drone footage. You’re doing well at transitioning from a DIY channel to a Cruising channel. Very spiffy.
Man...the production quality has gone to another level. Ava is in her wheelhouse doing the destination travelogues...she's a natural. Another splendid episode. Bravo Mads and Ava 👍😁
Really enjoying Ava’s witty travelogues. Nice addition to the diy material.
You both are so nerdy and cute I love it warms my heart and makes me smile every video. PLEASE NEVER STOP.
I second this opinion❣️
Glad to hear your better. So humanity is still around, and people still help each other when in need. So refreshing to hear. ☘️ ❤️
Glorious, glorious Glandore! 1,000,000 thanks for taking care of our Dahlke-folk.
Thanks for doing video even when sick. I liked our breadmaker on board. The only problem I had was that the smell of cooking bread had me salivating and very hungry when it was baked so it never lasted long. We used it as a way of regulating our solar panels in the tropics. "Lots of power - yippee - breadmaker on!"
Mads and Eva - so sorry to learn that you both had Covid. But I am glad to know that you are both on the mend. Hopefully there will be no recurrence. Wonderful Irish people and their hospitality to help you through that challenge. Sail on!
Your the best video to watch. You battle cov , you do the domestic chores, (bread) time out for fresh water, and produce videos. Thank You Sir for all you are doing, caring for your bride during the worst. 👍👍👍👍. Wishing you all the best.
I must say Ava makes a good tour guide
Agreed. Even firns become interesting.
All these wonderful comments--I agree! Just wanted to add how much Ava is just so dang charming! I am so happy you two have each other and are kind and generous enough to share a bit of yourselves with us!
--See You!
Thank you for your videos! They help me a lot during these rough times as ukrainian. I watched them all. Keep it up!
I am sorry you got the VID but happy you are recovering. Thank you for sharing the people.
Mads, on the watermaker, try pulling the prefilter(s) out after making water and letting them dry out. Dump the water from the filter cannister and give it a rinse or clean it if necessary. Reload before next running of the system.
Are you using a single or double prefilter setup? I’ve got a 20 then a 5. The first one gets nasty quickly if I don’t do the above with all the organic matter that it traps. If you’re getting a sulphery smell to your water, especially if you sample it early in the run, it’s coming from that trapped organic matter. When I saw your prefilter, I expect the cannister needed a cleaning too.
Anyway, awesome job with the boat and the videos and glad to hear no serious complications from the virus.
We really enjoy Ava's approach to the storytelling/history of the locations you all visit, it is adding a nice spin to your videos. Kudos!
I have been very lucky to have been spared the misery of COVID. Between vaccinations, wearing masks and isolating things have been pretty smooth so far. On the other hand, those who have gotten this miserable virus that I know have said it was the worst they have ever felt and some still felt some foggy thinking, weariness and acheness for several weeks after recovering. Best to stay hydrated, well fed, lot of fresh air and well rested. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Thank you both for toughing it out and still producing a great weekly video.
There is still good in people. Great episode.
Transition from a diy blog to a cruising blog was done superbly, well done crew
Glad you two are starting to feel better.
I'm glad to see both of you seem to have had a relatively light case. Been there done that Twice. Fair winds.
That’s sailing best not to have too detailed plans the weather and sea state often have other plans, let alone Covid. Try lassoing the buoy if you don’t have a boat hook! Have a couple of Gerry cans for water so when you don’t have Covid you can run ashore and top up your tanks if you want have to avoid running the water maker.
I'm English and the English and the Irish have a lot of history as I'm sure you know. Despite that, I've always found the Irish to be very friendly and welcoming. Ireland is a lovely country with a rich history and culture and is well-worth getting to know. As long as you don't mind the rain of course.
Great episode, despite the covid... and as a bonus, at 3:35, Ava invents another new word.. 'warmier'.
This electric Seldén winch is kind of sailors jewelry. Glad you both are well up back on watch!
I love how you turn the camera on, clip the mic on your shirt, then go out into the rain just so you can walk into shot saying 'Brrr! Let me get out of that rain!', the rain you had no other need to be out in 😂
I’m glad you’re feeling better, but take it slow. For a very small percentage of those who’ve caught the virus it can be a life changer. It’s not something to be trifled with.
On a more positive note, terrific sailing video and as always Ava’s travelogues are amazing.
It’s a majority, not the small percentage. It is true that it can, actually will, be a life changer. The virus never leaves you, and it damages your immune system leaving you open to more infections. Having Covid does not give you any protection from future infection. Vaccination does however but with the constantly changing mutations even vaccination may only give you protection from severe illness for the short term.
Very sorry to hear you both got ill. Glad to hear you're both on the mend. Hoping all will be well with you both soon. It's great the locals have provided you all with such kindness.
I really enjoyed the trip to the fort and the history about spain and piracy in the local area. More history lessons in the future please.:) Glad you are both feeling better.
I have just started watching your videos from five years ago where you are refitting Athena. I find those videos so much fun . I am glad I decided to also watch your latest cruising videos. You guys are such nice people, its great to see you having fun. Sorry to see that you have been afflicted with Covid
Blarg! Hope y’all are feeling better soon! ❤️❤️❤️
Glad the warm Irish welcome has been in evidence even in quarantine
This was one of your best put together videos ever. Really well told story and footage. Wishing you both the best of health and safe passage to France or elsewhere as arises.
Glad to hear you are feeling better and had good support while you were sick.
I am not nearly as careful as you are about the watermaker membranes. I run my machine in clean sea water and less clean lagoon water. The only downside is changing the pre-filters more frequently - and they're cheap.
Rotterdam Harbor water seems okay too. On a museum navy ship where I volunteer, we have installed a unit but, were stuck in harbor for the foreseeable future during the start of the pandemic. We just Had to test it after the install..... We now use it regularly to keep it in working order.
Well done Glandore!
...love your stories Eva...
Glad to hear you're recovering. Really enjoy watching your journey. Safe travels to both of you.
Glad to hear you both are feeling much better after Covid, it knocked me and my wife on our butts the first time, not so bad the second. Take care and fair winds, Sea U.
How long between first and second time you got it? Just kind of curious how long the immunity lasts.
@@mckenziekeith7434 about 9 months between the two times. My wife is a nurse in a nursing home so she is exposed quite often to patients who have it. There is no immunity, you can catch over and over. The difference is the symptoms aren't as bad. We had even gotten the 2 shots and still got it the second time but we got over it much faster and with less symptoms.
@@stevecoe-pcjunke2377 Pretty much identical for us, my wife takes care of the challenged kids in the local school. We ended up with it in first week of February, and I had a shorter go round in May. Three shots of vaccine each.
Best wishes all.
@@stevecoe-pcjunke2377 Thanks Steve! My wife and I got it once so far despite 2x vaccination +booster. It wasn't too bad. Hopefully if I get it again it will be even more mild. Take care.
Hope the two of you make a full recovery. And the videos are great.
Glad to know you are somewhat better, I had COVID and like you said "its no joke." I just spent a few days in Baltimore, it one of the coolest place the East Cost for docking and near by amenities. Thoroughly enjoy your videos, smooth sailing.
Great dragon footage!
Covid kicked my butt for 6 weeks, glad you are feeling better.
COVID sucks. I was in hospital for a week back in last part of April 2020 ro the first half of May 2020. Not a great thing to experience. But I am glad you both are getting back to some semblance of normal. It took almost a month to get rid of the fog and tiredness. I will catch the next episode when it comes out. Cheers!!
Sorry to hear you caught Covid, but happy to hear you're feeling better. Athena looked amazing in those drone shots when the water was so calm; Athena is a very good looking vessel. Good luck getting to France.
You did much more than I did when I had the virus. Glad you are recovering well
Sorry that you both got sick but glad that you are on the mend! ❤️🩹
Sorry to hear you were sick 😷
Your covid experience is behind you although it's no fun it seems almost unavoidable at this point. Other than your schedule slipping a bit and consuming an unhealthy dose of Netflix your good 2 go. The opening of the video was very cool the drone shots in the calm bay were spectacular. I'm looking forward to your next cruising video no worries your videos are gonna be great.
Hey guy's, first so glad to see that you two are doing good after your bout with Covid. Mads I haft to tell you, out of all the sailing couples I watch you are the most advanced in fitting out your boat, and Ava you are quite the video artist.
Glad you're feeling better!
ok your sailing content rivals the amazing ob you didon you DIY content keep it up!!
Mads and Ava - glad to hear you are feeling better and thanks for the video.
glad you're both feeling (or starting to) - covid is no joke even with mild symptoms. it really shows when you try to do something that is normally very easy and you end up winded and wondering what was going on :) Cheers from PEI Canada, Bryan
I have been following you from the beginning and I learned many things from you, thank you. But regarding the water maker I must say, we use ours every day, close to shore. If the water is free of pollutants and clean, there is not a problem whatsoever. We have two extra filters one of 20 microns and another of 5 microns before the salt water enters the filter supplier by the manufacture. Marinas or ports are the problem, we keep away from those.
I visited that fort as well although I had a car so it was easy to follow the road to it. Wonderful little town. Cool to see you guys stop there.
Yep I got covid recently even though triple vaccinated. 1 day shivering just couldn’t warm up then felt like caught summer cold (had spent days working in garage fixing lawnmower) tiredness/listless is worst so much to do before husband comes home from work assignment of 9 months in Oregon. He lands Saturday and we launch wavedancer on 12th July
Oh o! The wife and I just got over it too. Best wishes!!!
My wife and I both caught it at the same time. It wasn't fun, but it wasn't as scary as advertised. took about 2 weeks to test clear. Be sure to drink lots of water and suppliment vitiman C if you can. Saludos! :-)
Glad you guys are better!.. Cheers!
You people are GREAT 👍👍
I had COVID between the second shot and the first booster. It was no fun. It was like the worst flu I've ever had, and it lasted around two weeks before I started feeling better.
Hi Ava, the pirates were from the Barbary Coast of North Africa - not South African. They were Dutchmen, Algerians and Ottoman Turks. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sack_of_Baltimore
Sorry about the Covid episode. Glad that you are now recovering - nasty experience!
I really like the sight seeing and history well done. Great video.
Pirating in Ireland is not well known, neither is the stroy that they took locals way as slaves!
sorry to hear it guys! Stay safe! I started a new job in March and when I got to the office I found out that almost everyone in my office has had covid 2-3x. I was blown away as someone that has never had it it freaked me out. Our customer base is very industrial so generally they dont get vaccines nor believe in corona. That being said I was amazed that not only had my coworkers got covid but that they had it MULTIPLE times. You would think that immunity would help at least a little.
Excellent video.
Glad you are both recovering. Don't be a in a rush though. I worked throughout the pandemic in UK testing people and every persons experienced the illness differently. So yes some felt it was like a cold, some had no symptoms and others died. Eat healthy and exercise will help clear the brain fog and bring energy levels back but don't be surprised if it takes quite a few weeks to feel "normal" again.
Glad yall are feeling better
Sundays are special because I get to watch another Sail Life episode.
Ava, watch out for that troll at that bridge/tunnel. A little Michigan humor for you. Lol
Mads, your sailing videos are really great. Well covered and enjoyable. Kudos! Sorry you both were sick. I’ve had Covid twice, and It sucks! Last time was exactly 1 year ago and my taste and smell is still off. 😞
If you get up to the north of Ireland/ south Scotland please go by Sanda Island and it's beautiful lighthouse. There used to be a pub and chandlery there too but I think is closed now under new ownership!
I love the walks!
Had a 1941 dragon on Lake Erie back in the 70’s. Was a great sailing boat, made for speed not comfort. Great boat! Glad you had a chance to sail one!
Huge empathy for you guys, my wife and I came down with covid recently whilst making the journey from the UK to the med. Its no fun, great you’ve had support from the local people in Ireland.
I hope you are both well soon.
glad to see that your feeling better
Feel for you both. Glad you have recovered, and no it's not just a cold, we both had it and I have never had such a sore throat and tiredness
Wishing you both a mild case and a quick recovery!
Hi Guys!!! I’ve been watching you for ages now. Great to see you sailing after all that work. I’ve been looking back and can’t see any videos of you painting your hull below the waterline. Can you point me to them if there are any. I’m renovating a Camper and Nicholson 39 and your videos have been so helpful. Many thanks!!
Sorry to hear and glad you guys are feeling better already! Glorious Covid is only second to glorious sanding
Get well soon 👍🏾
I didn't realize you guys are no longer publishing in real time for the same week before the Sunday you upload like you used to. Is it a week behind now? Still way better than most sailing channels.
Ah, if only all sailing weather was as nice as in this film. Since it's not, I'll have to continue to be satisfied (very nicely) by watching your channel. Glad you survived Covid with "minor" inconvenience. Can't imagine living through it while midway across the Atlantic or during weather bad enough to be seasick on top of it.
Getting better soon. I just got over this mess.
Wonderful. Thank you
SUUUCKS. I was lucky when I had it I had a few days with bad sleep then 3 bad days then 2 crap days. Tested clear 2x over 5 days more so like 13 days end to end seems pretty normal. Glad to hear you all are doing better.
Love you two, stiff upper lip! And, in case you didn't know, it's called sailing - delays and broken plans! Nice to see you both looking a bit better, and I'm sure, like me, everyone is routing for you. Get well soon!
Hi , glad to see you are both on the mend ,after Covid . With a big thanks to all who helped you out . Take care and catch you on the next one .
Glad your feeling better 🙂
Cheers
Glad you both on on the mend. Sucks I’m sure, if for no other reason missing out on going ashore.
Hope that you both fully recover. Cheers
I was afraid you would report Covid this week after you mentioned the sore throat last week :-( Glad you both are doing better!
I'm sure I wasn't the only one to recommend Glandore when you first mentioned going to Ireland. I'm glad it lived up to (and exceeded) expectations and my memory of it.
It is so nice to see my "old stomping grounds" again. I've been all over the coastline roads by motorcycle and I truly miss the Irish landscape and the friends I made there. Had I known when I left Cork in 2007 how work life would turn out back home in Norway... I never would have left Ireland in the first place.
Not so Pretty Dang Spiffy but glad you are both on the mend. Really enjoyed all your videos the last couple of years and now your on the move a nice mix of true Sail Life with local interest and history. Keep it up as there is Land Ahoy! and many more interesting adventures. ⛵⚓
What a pain for you both thanks for your efforts
Sorry to here hope you both get well soon
