The drone shots in the beginning really show how huge these new silos are, compared to your old setup. Really enjoyed your explanations as to why you did things the way you did. I don’t think most people realize how much work, and planning goes into running a farm. Always enjoy your videos.

Furthermore, it gave an excellent bird’s eye view of the entire operation. The drone in the past has given us view of planting and harvesting, but this one was great because it took in everything.

Hi Eric. If you are familiar with Tom Pemberton, over in the UK. He put up a roof on his outdoor double bunk, just recently. In his case, he raised the outer walls, to get more silage in and the extra height makes it easy for his machinery to get in/out. It came out really nice, I say this because of your hope to get the bunks there covered. Just as a reference point. I agree, the opening drone shots were amazing. Those silo's are the tallest standing structures for miles. And the view from up there is unmatched.
I've heard it said, that "The best laid plans, are JUST best laid plans." Be prepared for any scenario, "just in case." I'm sure the farm will be ready to go.

I am pumped for this project! Can't wait to see the robot system get built! I enjoy when you give us some details on how you arrive at these decisions. I am curious how it all works out over time. Everything you have described so far sounds like it would be a huge improvement if it can be implemented as described. Its easy to have sticker shock because of big numbers... but when you pencil it out over 10 years and you factor in labor/time savings, improved feed quality and all the other variables... those numbers can make way more sense all of a sudden. Thanks for taking us along, Eric!

I think the "make the best of what we have" philosophy is really wise. I was wondering while I watched the silos go up how you'd maintain enough land for crops to fill them. The East Coast is gradually turning in to one huge suburban housing development, and even your area is likely to be impacted at some point. I would think buying more land as opposed to renting it (and sooner rather than later) would be a bigger safety net against development, but that is a prohibitive expense. But in any case maximizing what you have to the absolute nth is very key.
The only other thing I was thinking was that as the buildings age out and are replaced maybe coming up with a comprehensive super efficient plan for building placement. Seems like now there is a long drive to anywhere to get a task done. (But hard to tell with just 20 minute videos and not being there.)
