    There is/was such a paucity of this type of tennis-centric material, particularly from a heavy-hitting former star of the game. The possibilities for this show are endless. I for one would love to hear Andy take us back to the 2008 USO dust-up with young Novak and also the aftermath, presumed reconciliation, and what seems to have become a cordial and respectful rapport. Eventually getting all of the big-3 on the pod (along with other stars, past, present and future). Thanks

It is so heartening to listen to Brad’s take on club players as there is not much difference in the mentality whether you are a pro or a high school tennis player… that just shows how the game of tennis unites its fans regardless of the level.

    Is it easier for a coach to tell a player that has achieved success by winning a Grand Slam that they need to change their grip or their serve after they have already won at the highest level? Andy is the most relatable tennis commentator because he is diplomatic but a straight shooter (a Virgo trait) at the same time. Love listening to his analysis about tennis and players. Thanks a lot! There are many interesting elements to be appreciated and learned from in your coversations here. Two quick remarks maybe: With regard to taking Rafael Nadal`s ball early, one might want to revisit his match against Andre Agassi in the 2005 Montreal final. With regard to Andy Murray still holding on, to me its seems one should not neglect the fact that there currently still is a No.-1-player, nearly exactly his age and with very similar athletic as well as technical abilities, with whom he had been playing on the same level for many years.

    I'm a big fan of both Andy and Brad. Both incredibly insightful people and strategic players. One question I have for you Andy, why did you modify your forehand post 2006? It seems it went from more risk taking and flattening out to more conservative loopy topspin. Why the change? Seems like you were arguably the most aggressive version as a player when brad was coaching you. This is a very common question people on youtube have asked on many of your match highlights youtube videos.

    Love this one. Had a chance to spend some time with BG, back in the day working for ProServ and Donald Dell. Head Classic in Stowe, VT and the Dc Tournament. First meeting felt like i'd known him my whole life. Some wild locker room stories especially after a match with Connors in VT. He's the best. Would be interested in how coaching has changed from the seats now vs. back in the day, when you were little more than a spectator once the match began.. It looks like sometimes CoCo is receptive and other times not. How does BG attempt to walk that line?? Appreciate what you are doing here, AR. Would love to get your thoughts (or maybe someone on the POD) to talk about Emma Navarro. Have really been following her in the last six months or so. She's got a lot of game. If she could ramp up that first serve a little, watch out. Her variety is off the charts. Maybe, you could help her?? Think she is a Top 10 talent.

    My favorite video yet! Would love to hear about the ESPN story on why they lost more tv coverage as it seemed to hit a sour note with Brad. Second and this is random and perhaps off topic but what happens to all the used clothing kits the players use. They must get like a dozen shirts and shorts for an event. But do they launder them and then ship them home? Do they last a few events sometimes? Seems like they go through a ton of clothes and was always curious.

    In latter years, Roger lost matches he should hv won, (ahead in the score, MPs, SPs, whatever) precisely bcos the accumulated experience of those 250+ matches he lost caused him to doubt himself. In his peak, he'd blitz thru the early rounds, no sweat. Latterly, the first cpl rounds scared him. He knew he could lose against some hot Qualifier, journeyman on fire, young gun out to show off his best. He often lost the first set in his later years.
    Ignoramuses say he was mentally weak, but it wasnt that. He fought thru many such moments. Sandgren's 7 MPs for instance late in his career. But the doubts grow the older you get is all. We've been seeing it last cpl years at least with Rafa, and now with the younger gen stronger, we're finally seeing it with Novak. He's just had a much easier ride in his final 5 years than Roger did.

    The fans are ‘up in arms’ because the optics on this are demonstrably terrible.
    Nadal took his $2 million dollar payday not 5 days earlier and pocketed sickening amounts of money for ‘private lessons’ while in Vegas for that weekend.
    Meanwhile the fans who booked and paid for tickets, flights and hotels to see him at IW are shit out of luck.
    Bottom line: judging by how he was hitting the ball at IW practice sessions Nadal could have easily played 2 sets against Raonic to see his fans one last time at that stadium court.
    There is no excuse for this , it is simply how it is.

  • @lsb9073
    @lsb9073 Před 4 měsíci

    Andy, being a bit disingenuous here tbf. Your take on Rafa Exo vs IW wud be perfectly fair, if that were how it went down
    It wasnt.
    Tickets were sold, flights&hotels booked bcos Rafa was playing on Thursday! All announced in order to get the punters in. Then Rafa withdraws the day before. Thats too late. That's the point. He knew damn well he wasnt fit to play - anyone watching the Exo cud see that. No problem for me that he played, came to IW early to practise, hoping to be fit. Tested himself with the Exo. No problem
    But tell the organisers to hold off making announcements about when he's going to play.
    Optics are bad & pisses ppl off.
