  • In this video I show you the steps involved to to install a Gate Latch Pull / Release Cable right the first time. Like a pro!
For this task you will need:
    1. Drill
    2. Long 5/16" wood drill bit (long enough to get through the post)
    3. 6" square
    4. Patience
I followed this job up with end cut pressure treated protection paint for untreated surfaces. This will limit the exposure of the hole to the elements.

    What is "hidden" about it?

There is no handle or thumb latch like a traditional gate. The only visible part is the small cable. Makes for a nice, clean install. Thanks for watching and the comment

What’s the name of the cable and click you put through? I’m right up to that point.

I drilled on an angle so that the release hardware would be assisted by gravity to return the latch to the closed position. Works great! Thanks for the question and for viewing!

Not a good tip I'm afraid. Being on a slope would allow the water to drain better otherwise you'd risk the water residing on the inside.
