(Description)
That school that forced the girl to dye her hair black also had a rule against.... dyed hair. Catch Nijuu-Ni!
I like the way Ryo says 'Yeaah...' ;)
Ops, we European tend to have natural light hair. Brown and blonde are pretty common. And with different textures (mine for example is natural curly).
In some countries as long as you look tidy, you can get a job. In England you can be a policeman or a businnessman with pink hair and dreads. And people will still take you seriously (I saw this with my own eyes while I was in England).
In Norway there is a policeman (a chief) that has long hair.
In Sweden we had a finance minister with long hair like 6 years ago or something, he was really good. Even my dad who was at the opposite political spectrum liked him :p
In Sweden we care more about your willingness and eagerness to learn the job and how you would fit into the group personalitywise than looks or grades. At least at the places I have worked at this has been the case.
You can't have unnatural hair colours in the UK police. Its actually part of the regulations
The idea of those companies is "don't dye your hair", not "you have to have black hair". And like she said, this is a great generalization.
People should be able to choose their own hairstyles and hair colors. I agree 100 percent.
Exactly. Even in the US, you do NOT want to go into a professional interview with blue hair and tattoos. Nobody screams racism about that do they?
Danderu because that’s not racism 🙄
I guess that wouldn't apply to the student who was asked to dye her hair by her school.
Hey, Kasia, Ryo! Could you do a video on what the most common/best jobs for foreigners living in Japan are? Like generally, what type of jobs foreigners tend to pick up there?
I agree 💯
I love this goofy, kinda "superdeluxe", style of montage
but still is so sad for people with natural brown hair color :( it looks like it is trude when you see in mangas that people are bulied just by having other hair color :(
I was a passive watcher, but you just made me a subscriber. Reason = the dramatic gopher that isn't a gopher. Just made my day! ♪♪♫
Now I understand Ichigo from Bleach and Kodaka from Haganai.
Y'all, wear a black haired WIG!
4:04 wow, pump so amazing, such colourful, many colours xD
Kasia is lovely. She seems like she would be nice to hang out with. Her hair is so pretty too she's got nothing to worry about! Keep up the good vids guys!
Love the Ryo & Kasia videos... entertaining but you learn something along the way too! Haha
lepetitpoulet thank you!
what if you're an older person with grey hair?
you always can dye gray hair..
yes, that's true...but is naturally grey hair acceptable ?
Yes
That’s totally acceptable. The point is that you r hair must be ‘natural’ colour.
what if I'm naturally blonde?lol
Sooooo my hair is black and afro-textured.. Am I going to be considered irresponsible if I wear an afro or a hairstyle that defines my curls? Like, should I apply a can of gel everyday in order to secure a job?
Informative channel , keep up the good work !!! btw Ryo why you so cute!!!!
aaaaa wreszcie
Really interesting, like it!
Okay, I can breathe a sigh of relief! I'm currently learning Japanese and plan on moving there some time in a few years; when you mentioned hair needing to be black I started to wonder if, as a foreigner, that I would need to dye my hair black. I'm perfectly fine with cutting my hair for a job. Not the color per say. Thanks for the info!
Maybe that's why anime characters have crazy hair color because of how japan is so strict with it.
Just my theory👐
thank you for this!!! it actually made me feel a lot better. i'm going to study advertising/marketing in japan hopefully, i have a few other types of degrees in mind vaguely (they're all on the creative side of things though), but i was worried that I wouldn't be able to get work there because I have bright pink hair haha. thank you for clearing it up!!
I have dyed black hair but I’m trying to get it lighter by dying it a plum color, it’s starting to look like the red wine colour, I guess that I’ll have problems when I move to Japan.. does that mean I should dye it black? Or do I find a job that will accept me?
What about us curly folks? 😢 No straightener for me thanks lol
My Japanese friend, Tommy Shoji had black kinky hair.
Your Japanese friend had kinky hair? Hmmm he must have permed it.
Nope that was natural for Shoji and for his two kids. My Japanese friend Alice had red among her black hair. You cannot generalize
I see many Japanese with blond hair etc. I doubt that is natural.
I would not last, Along with my 10 tattoos, though there all hidable except a leaf on the side of my neck... My hair (what i have left) is Purple, orange & olive green. The sides & back are shaved cleane, the top is colored in stripes, braided in cornrows, and about 14 inches long..I change the color about every 4 months... in about a week it's going to be Lemon yellow, Teal Blue, and.... I'm thinking hot pink... Pink isn't really my color, but i did it last year and it blended quite pretty with the yellow...
I have blonde and blue hair is that ok? Is hair colouring expensive in Japan? I pay $258 for hair colouring here in Norway.
Wow Ryo is so professional :0
Where I live, most businesses are alright with natural hair colors as long as it looks neat and in some cases off the shoulders.
what about naturally frizzy hair? or white hairs from stress?
I never cut my hair, but it's not messy although I have frizz , and ive been having white hairs since I was 15and now my hair is covered with white hairs...
is that bad?
Nice video. Can you please make one about the bicycler rules in Japan. It seems to me that there are no rules at all, and if there are, nobody bothers to follow them, especially when the cyclists ride on the pedestrian walks. Back home I am very conscious about the motorized traffic, but here its the okaa-sans with big heavy bikes that scare me the most. Last year one pushed me with the side of her bike so hard, that I fell and she didn't even turn to see if I am alright, just sped away. A friend told me, that Japanese parents always warn their kids not to ride on the street, and that is why they use the pedestrian walks, even if there isn't a sign that permits it. So, what are the pedestrian vs. cyclist's rights in Japan.
I would definitely watch that kind of video, really nice idea
There are some rules but nobody bothers to foollow them.
Kris said that in one of daily vlog (about 1-2 years ago i think) on his main channel.
Ryo is so cute i can’t
I'm sorry, I may be late for the questions, but I just found your channel so... What about curly hair? And when I say cruly hair I mean REALLY curly hair. Like Nathalie Emmanuel. Do companies in Japan have any problem with curly hair?
Is it that it has to be black hair, or is it that your hair needs to be totally natural/undyed? For instance, do foreigners who work as salaryman have to dye their hair black?
Interesting. What if your hair is naturally...red...for example? I went to school with a Japanese student and they had red hair (well not European red, but a dark brown/red that was a color that they had in their family). Would they be expected to dye their hair?
What about Bald people?
Phasmastic im sorry, but its a no. Cause ur "hair" is not black! XD
They dye their scalp confirmed 😂

Women would probably have to wear wigs.
Thats y saitama cant find a proper job. And due to the environment hes forced to become a suppa hero
Like many I used to be somewhat of a weeb when I was a teen, wanted to study in japan and everything. Good thing we grow up, because every year that passes Japan seems more and more miserable in my head. To the point that sometimes I'm glad I wasn't born yamato japanese in Japan, even though I'm from an emerging country. I guess that's how much being an individual is important for me.
I'm a little surprised about the school thing, because black hair dye allergy is a thing, and you can acquire it from using black hair dye too much. Abby from NCIS was hospitalized because of it. Japan seems so health conscious that I would figure they'd take that into consideration.
I really like his hair, even before I watched this video
Do they differentiate between "not allowed to dye" and "has to be black"? and wut about eye lashes and eye brows? is it fine to only dye the hair? but still have blonde lashes or beared?
Stoked
Just here for Ryo ;) Didn’t even care what i’m watching really.
Yun Kool is he an actor ?
Do you have to dye your hair black too in luxury retail? Where is it ok to have green or purple hair? And what are the jobs which provide sufficient income who enable this freedom?
*Stoked the conversation, like stoking a fire.
I had a friend with long blonde hair and all he needed to do to be allowed to go to the high school in Japan was cut his hair shorter he didn’t have to dye his hair
You are correct. It will state something like, "conservative" or "natural hair colors"
Hey uwaga pies. Can I wear a wig to avoid dye or cutting hair?
Is Ryo wearing Pink Floyd t-shirt? Noice.
Yeah, Pink Floyd is crazy awesome -Ryo
Most of the time, these rules only take Japanese people into consideration. A foreigner with naturally brown or blonde hair doesn't give off a similar impression to that of a Japanese, or any East Asian appearing, individual who dyes their naturally dark hair into a lighter color. So a person who appears to be Japanese who dyed their hair blonde is considered someone who is non-conforming. Whereas someone who appears to be European or from the US isn't going to show a similar impression because it's their natural hair color or assumed that their dyed blonde hair is natural.
thank you for that clarification!
What about eyebrows? From what I understood, black hair is usually required because people with japanese origin have black hair genetically. If your natural hair colour were blond, you'd have blond eyebrows as well. Is it okay to dye just hair, or do you need to dye your eyebrows as well?
what if you have naturally blonde, red or brown hair ?
a year on but that word missed I believe was stoked , possibly
i miss you two :(
What if you keep your head bald? How is that seen? What if your baldness is for health-related reasons?
What if someone has well maintained facial hair that is clearly upkeot in a specific style, not just neglected
If the school did that to blonds there hair would be so horrendously damaged... blond is often thinner to begin with. strands would break more and likely fall out in large part: that school is completely messed up.
I used to dye my hair black because my natural hair is two toned(it's a random scottish/irish thing mostly): My eyebrows and my hair don't match-among other things. I had to stop. It was damaging my hair. I'm just that dirty blond that often looks brown or light brown unless in certain lighting... yet I had to deal with that full on.
I'm glad I stopped though because now I'm fighting my hair breaking and falling out because of hashimotos(it's named after a Japanese doctor who discovered it), an auto immune disorder. My immune system is attacking my thyroid. It causes problems. If i had to deal with both causes I'm fairly sure I'd be bald or something by this point.
what about when it comes to hair length? even if you keep it in a tight bun?
Does anyone know if people working at a Japanese university have to have black hair?
Does dark brown work
In Germany you need a natural hair color for some jopbs
for exampel when you work at a bakery you only can have Black, brown and blond hair sometimes you also can have red hair but nothing cracy
but as a office worker your hair color dont matter bec no one can see you
we only have a hand full of companys that would make a fuss out
of it
what about wearing hats? where is okay to? is it looked down on because of how much hair matters?
I really really don’t know why many people wanna work at those companies has strict hair rules because I am definitely NO. If they don’t wanna me like parson has hair dye ,I don’t wanna them as well. Just go somewhere else accept yourself and need your skills!!! Don’t need to get extra stress everyone!!!!
what are some examples of foreigner friendly jobs?? and some where its not likely foreigners can even get in??
Japanese conforming behavior is ingrained in their culture it seems and their elders who are in positions of power are too traditional/conservative.
what if i have blonde hair and i'm simply making it a lighter blonde??
I love the japanese obsession with hair! Maybe I could FINALLY find a decent hairdresser if I moved there! lol
(Of course, it does help that I currently prefer dying my hair black...although I wouldn't have nearly as much problem as most people, since i work online. lol)
I signed up with a temps agency to make some extra funds as event staff, but they told me that most of the jobs require black hair. I’m a foreigner with light brown hair.
My hair is dark brown and turns light brown in the summer. I'll have to get a job as a "creator" with Ryo 😍😘
Low profile hair? I have no future in Japan
Wait is that why Chichi freaked out about Gohan's super Saiyan hair?
Hello! At 7:42 I know you said "Jobs that take foreigners take into account that foreigners dont look Japanese" but the captions wrote the sentence as "-foreigners dont LIKE Japanese". Just thought I'd give you the heads up
Haha, my natural blonde hair would stand out a little in company like that...
What if you have black hair but your tips are a different color?????
I pass one of these rules as I have black hair.... but I also have it shaved underneath and do the man bun thing sooo 😂
PS I want to floof Ryo's hair
flooof
Lol can I just wear a passable wig that's a natural color? or do they check if your hair is real? I hate having normal hair :(
Foreign company with foreign management does not hold people to that rule. Thats old saying.."You give one inch people will take a mile." So, if you allow for slight color change some people will take it to the extreme. Just goes to show..Nowhere is perfect.
I bet Visual Bands are absolute outcasts in Japanese society with their crazy hairstyles and style
And what color is his hair real hair thanks.
Which kanji does Ryo use to write his name?
Yo Ryo... That's some nice anime kinda hair u got... U should have a freaking anime sketch of yourself... U r like this little cute thing...
So a person needs to dye it black to meet company conformity?
The special effects are a bit distracting, but I like the video. It's on a great subject. I'm glad I would be ok over there with my natural dark brown hair (and jet-black roots). My hair was jet-black when I was born, and lightened over the years... :) Lol.
Incorrect. You can have blonde, brown, ect. However it must be your original hair color you were born with. The point is you cannot dye it.
And what about bald guys? Ale you allowed to shave your head? And why calling someone a bald?
did Ryo finish the IB?
but what if my face looks weird without facial hair lol. I have a baby face and not just that, it's a weird baby face when shaven. I have to keep some or I'll freak people out lol.
Am just here to stare at Ryo's face. 😂
This isn't exclusive to Japan. In the west, if you work in corporate or in a public service capacity, natural hair color is the only hair color allowed.
Hair color really counts a lot specifically in traditional and non-conformist environments. Japanese people and mostly Asians generally have back and straight hair and majority of Asian countries are conservative- hence, they kind of stick to these kinds of norms, although more often they appear to be very judgemental.
Hey, anyone here know what are the songs used in the background of the video?
lol...stoked.
I miss you....
forners made me laugh
That's crazy...
Ryo dyed his hair? Like his hair is black...
I think we can assume he had dyed his hair brown or blond before that.
Wait what if you have naturally blonde curly hair...
How about dark brown ?
How about 10 facts about pre-schools with military training?
ok, so i'm sorta good for the job in japan but gotta get rid of my facial hair well creator it is shaving daily nah man i can't lol *luv u wagaPies*
A man bun is nothing like a chonmage (i.e. "samurai hair")
Pls find RYOs IG handle
What about straught up bald and polished?
