    You’re not playing the game wrong, fromsoft just gives multiple ways to play the game. You can memorize enemy movesets or you can memorize enemy weaknesses. Both are difficult, just in different ways.

    Elden ring is designed to be as friendly as possible, so that even new players can immerse themselves in the story and exploration.
    Miyazaki has done this perfectly by providing a lot of ways to get through the famous "git good".
    This allows even the most experienced players to make their games more difficult by ignoring 1 or more of the game's mechanics.

      The difference between a bad souls player and a good one is recognizing that “git gud” is not an insult but genuine advice. There is always something that you could be doing differently that you are not and there are many ways to “git gud” in order to beat a boss, be it weapons, items, summons, ashes of war, anything really.

    I used to be a one build player, but playing the DLC made me want to use all the new stuff so now I have an arsenal I carry round with me for different situations. I have Falx and Rellana twin swords for bosses (depending on bleed resistances), Dragon Hunters Great Katana for when I come across any dragons. A great shield for general exploring as it's great for dealing with tougher mobs like Fire Knights. A seal for some buffs and utility incantations. A big holy mace for when I need blunt or holy damage.
    It honestly changed the way the game felt for me, I don't find myself hitting any brick walls anymore as I always have an answer for every type of enemy.

      A bit slow here.... but this is the problem with smithing stones in particular.
      Of course, to not require stones at all means that, like the DLC, even more treasure would be garbage. Finding a new level of stone is exciting on a first playthrough.
      So many "treasures" of the DLC are stones after everyone already has the bell-bearings which is of course "dung".
      But the game is missing something between "I found a higher level of stone" and "bell-bearing" which is why it's so much harder to use multiple weapons in the main game, especially if you aren't using somber weapons. Which is a bit weird because you'd think the somber weapons would be "special".

      @carnageasada1 Před měsícem +1

      @@redfish337that’s how Assassins Creed is, as well. The cool high tier “badass” weapons are actually dog crap vs the normal weapons that can be modified and leveled up.

    • @redfish337
      @redfish337 Před měsícem +2

      @@carnageasada1 Well, plenty of somber weapons are super powerful.
      Somber weapons just take 1 stone at each of 10 levels. Smithing weapons take several stones and have 25 levels. So it takes about 10 somber stones but 100 smithing stones... but the game does't give you 10x more smithing stones.
      So an int build can go meteorite staff (no upgrades), wing of astel, moonveil, regal scepter without much issue... heck, there's room to level up 1-2 other weapons too... death's poker, darkmoon greatsword and maybe the bastard's stars to deal with rock/crystal enemies. So much good somber stuff for int builds.
      Someone just trying to power stance smithing weapons is probably going to have to go farm smithing stones. Heck, just trying to level ONE smithing stone weapon is a hassle unless you're doing a lot of side content (or, of course, know where to look already)

      Bell-bearing 3 (smithing FIVE) is in Mountaintop of Giants.
      The bell-bearings are why we can have fun in the DLC using a whole bunch of different weapons. (and why most of the stone rewards are "dung" and should just be runes)

      Like lets say you have x weapon and whatever you do its just not working but you got another that might be better but its not leveled up.
      To level it up you need stones and runes lots of it.
      They should have made it so you can remove upgrades from a weapon and get stones back even if its without runes.
      Then different weapons require different character stats so you cant use it fully....that's a lot of runes needed to change course.
      So far feels like every boss I beat I managed to beat because I was overleveled for it.

    I take out the correct weapon for the situation. I mean, I usually have a favorite weapon that I'm using most of the time when I'm walking around, and that I'll switch that out at times to try out different ones, but for specific things I'll bring out specific weapons, and if I run into anything tougher than usual in the field, I'll look up what it's weak to and adjust my weapons to fit. And for bosses, I look them up first and absolutely pick my weapons, spells, talismans, everything to best fit that enemy.
    But that fits my usual playstyle -- I look things up a lot and don't just walk into things and get surprised. I'm about to start on the DLC and I'm going to try that more "cold" -- no walkthroughs and not looking things up about an area ahead of time. But I'll probably still be looking up bosses when I know I'm walking into a boss fight, and at the very least, I'll be looking up bosses and other tougher enemies after I fail at the first blind attempt.

      Also, there are a ton of enemies you can totally sneak up on and just poison mist to death. Assassin's Gambit makes that even easier. If they're not moving before you get close, and you can get behind them without being seen, and they are at all able to be poisoned, then you can do that. Poison mist and freezing mist both can be used without alerting unaware enemies to your presence at all, even when frostbite procs. It's slow but sure. Nothing wrong with the stealth approach when you can get away with it. Full grown fallingstar beast, draconic tree sentinel, some of the crucible knights... it can even be done to Malenia (there's a recent cheese video that shows how to poison mist her through her first phase and then do a crit on her while she's still poisoned in order to skip all or most of her second phase). Totally legit.

    I didn't really learn the value of swapping weapons for weaknesses until I got entirely fed up fighting Burial Watchdogs that just won't die. Hwne I looked up their resistances and stuff, literally the ONLY thing that hurt them are Strike weapons, typically maces. And my god was that effective one I actually started using them. Bonus is that catacombs are almost always filled with Imps, an enemy that I loathe, but they have nil defense against maces. So an upgrades Holy mace works double to tackle most things underground in the base game. Was a true eye opener.
    TO further teinforce this, Miners of any variety have 80% absorbtion against physical damage sources, except maces which are only 35%. And their magic/holy resistances is half that of any other school.
    In short: Bring a holy mace/Hammer and shield into mini dungeons with you. You will need them :p

    From Software games are to be approached like a puzzle, you need to figure out what is working best for you and the situation you are facing. If you ever dive in other of their games outside of the "soul" series (and even in those games playing this way is better), you immediately understand that. Just recently AC6 was a good proof of that with all the rage against the "filter"...
    Most people refuse to adapt their builds (that does not mean changing your points !), change their gears, adapt their skills/defensives/talismans and use consumables. I will never understand that. Why limit yourself to 1 loadout when you have hundreds of armors and weapons ? Yes, your stats and build could limit you into some specific kind of gears, but even then you still have most equipment available. With my build I still carry over 20 weapons with me at all time, to adapt or just changing ashes of war after a failed try.
    And of course, cherry on the top, PNJ summons and Spirit Ashes are to be banned and only for "losers", most refuse to use just "because" and then proceed to complain the game is too hard or unfair. Ok.
    Ever have a hard time and you do not feel like hitting your head against a wall for hours ? Just give your mimic a hammer with Prayerful Strike AoW, some pots (depending on enemy weakness) and Uplifting Aromatic.

    Until a certain point in the game it'S absolutely not necessary to think about using different weapons for different enemies. It also depends on your build / levels because if you basically kill everything in 2-3 hits anyway you probably don't feel the need to change something. However, in the late / endgame you're likely to hit a little wall, some enemies are relly strong and if they gang up on you it can get really annoying. This was when I started to use more than just 1 Set of gear. But again, it depends on your build, if you're heavy into spells and incantations you probably don't need to worry that much, there's plenty of magic for every type of enemy and you can carry enough spells with you all the time. I've been playing as a Mage from the start and switched somwhere mid to late game to a quality build and had to learn how to deal with certain strenghts and weaknesses of enemies because somtimes brute force does not work very well.
    I felt like you for not using all of this and I commited to try it but endet up not doing it because what they don't tell you is, that it is A LOT of work and there's a steep learning curve to it! It looks super easy and OP in these videos but to actually perform all this you need to prepare a lot, learn all the effects and when / how to use what and execute things very quickly and with perfect timing sometimes. This is nothing you can master in 1-2 days, it takes many many hours and you'll die more than you would if you just keep playing the way you're used to already. So if you're looking for a new challenge, this is definitely worth it but if you think you can just switch into OP mode and burn down everything instantly you're wrong!

    Honestly, all the weaknesses and stuff makes playing the game Vagabond-style really appealing. Sword and board with 3 good str/dex weapons of each type, put enough points into int and faith so you can wield the most basic spells. 25 FTH gives you Vow, Strength and cleanse, saving you all those boluses. 22 int gives you glintblade phalanx and a host of lesser useful spells, like Gravity Well to counter all those annoying birds in Farum. Assuming you start the most popular choice, samurai, that's 30 lvls of points to collect before you can split as you prefer. really not a big deal for all the benefit it gives.

    This is one reason this game is so well-designed. You can develop reflexes or knowledge (or both, obviously). Even without a respec, a simple load-out change can improve your chances in various areas or against certain bosses.
    Here's an example: I simply can't roll all three of Elden Beasts holy wave attacks. At least one always catches me, and it is usually the third attack with the extra delay. However, if I use a greatshield with very high holy protection, with a reasonable amount of stamina, I can block my way through all three attacks. Interestingly, the delay before the third attack is just long enough if you stop blocking to restore your stamina for that third attack. What that means is that the very thing that makes dodging so much harder - that extra delay before the third attack - is what makes blocking a viable option. There is no chance that that is just a coincidence - it is clearly by design.

    9:16 for the DLC yes, I took advantage of every weakness and since I was ng+4 I had like 10 different upgraded weapons and using a faith build I was switching around incantations to match the bosses weakness and my own resistances. In the base game, I never needed to care about my own resistances, but in the DLC I was using different armor sets, incants and spells to boost the correct resistances, and it helped significantly with dmg. In an area with a lot of frenzy, I went in with 500 focus and 65 fire res without any buffs.

    @CJ86.H Před měsícem

    Elden ring was the first souls game I ever played, so I didn't have any pre -conceived Ideas on how to play the game. For example I had no idea that rolling made you invincible for a certain amount of time, I thought it was just a way of getting away from attacks so the hit box would miss you. The idea of rolling into an attack seemed so stupid and it wasn't until sometime after Godrick that I learnt how to dodge-roll properly. I was shocked to learn that people didn't jump, use consumables, or change their weapons for different enemy types. I had a night-rider flail that I would change the ash of war on for undead(holy) or mines/crystal tunnels/catacombs (magic) - only upgraded it when I had spare smith stones or after I got the area bell-bearing. Made those areas too easy!
    The other mechanic I would recommend is the backstep - not sure if it has i-frames; but it has a unique counter attack if you light attack after backstepping. Works especially well on small dogs when they do that bite lunge thing thing twice in a row, and it always staggers you. You back step his first and second bite then light attack for the unique counter attack. Makes them so much easier to deal with. In fact - if you see an enemy that uses smaller blades - e.g. daggers, claws, fists or even short swords; back-steps can be very effective. I used them against Narius and destroyed him before Yura even showed up.

    All from software game are made to be cheased. Thats why it its posible in so many cases to one shot bosses or kill them from outside of arena etc.

    The beauty of Elden Ring is that every boss is actually VERY easy when you learn that you can use swap out talismans and buffs to fight them. If you want to make it even EASIER, use a great shield and spear. Every boss is super easy with blood tax, a spear, and a shield. SUPER easy. There are amazing strats for every boss. Enjoy! It's fun when you play smarter instead of harder.

    Is this how? Yes. Yes it is. I always have a sacred blade weapon available. I slice through Death birds, Mariners, and I never have to panic swing at the floor to try and hit that stupid resurrecting skelly. I carry a gravitas sword for mobs hiding around corners or rats on the roof or in the tower of Madness, it's also great with bats. I always have a hammer (Morning Star - then Great Stars) for strike damage (usually with Sacred Blade).
    There is no cheezing - there is only strategy. They give me no breaks, I give them none. And no, I'll probably never get Gud enough for a no hit boss (I have had a few but it was more luck/strategy than skill) let alone a no hit run. My parry is pathetic.

    Just play it like its a Zelda game and it will be easy. Play it like a souls game and it will be harder. Both are valid it just depends on what you want, you aint a noob for using either one its more of a self curated difficulty slider/challenge run. Basically you just choose whether you want to get trough by skill or by intellect or a combination of the two neither approach makes you a bad player. I for one dont use the jumping because i just don't like how it looks in the fight but that wont be a problem for some people and that doesn't matter just play how you wanna.
    Im doing this now in DS1 because I have over 1k hours in it and if I just stick to fast rolling I will beat it with muscle memory alone so sometimes I intentionally go for a fat roll with a weapon that isin't always max upgrade(max upgraded for that section)

    lol, elden ring really is Ds2 2, my habits for ds2 was to bring a poke and a bonk, the poke for enemies without armor, the bok for armor.
    i didnt use lightning but fromsoft really likes making things that dont resist it too well lol
    even looking glass knight in ds2 is supposed to be strong against lightning, but hes standing in the rain so his defenses are average lol
    but yeah, honestly, a thing ds2 and elden ring have in common: upgrade materials are really easy to get so youve got plenty of room to experiment or build a small arsenal to toy around with
