I have to say, I love the pace and tone of your videos, conversational and clear yet information dense. Great content.
Interesting to see an oil technique dark to light, rather than the usual reductive oil wash.
Thanks. I find it easier to build towards light, especially at this scale, but that's also how I initially learned to paint with acrylics. I'll have to try the other direction again at some point.
Mate that video is gold, really enjoyed it!
I'd love to see the same video but white, for my future White Scars army
Thanks mate, glad you liked it. I've got a couple of videos on white in the pipeline. It'll be a bit, but stay tuned!
Ah, another great channel for oils coming along!
Happy to tag along for your ride
Nice work
Similar to what Wappel does; subtractive painting is definitely interesting.
It really is. James Wappel has been a huge inspiration to me; I've learned a lot from him and hope others will give this method a go.
These color theory bits are great, I've been looking for someone who does this for minis! Can't wait to see all the content you'll be making, I'm subbed for more!
Loved the vid, I've got oils paints but haven't got around to actually using them. Thanks for the detailed talk thru of the techniques.
Thanks! Definitely give them a go, I'd love to know what you think.
I love it!!!'
Great video! For once the algorithm suggested something good :D
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Wow, love it! Any chance you could show some of your style on Necrons you show on your website and Insta? Those must be the best Ive seen so far :O
Solid stuff!
I can’t wait to use these methods/techniques on Angron!
Same! He's gonna be a lot of fun to paint.
Mate, lovely video! Great tutorial!
Thanks mate, I appreciate it!
Awesome video. Gonna give this one a try.
Thanks! Let me know how it goes.
Great tutorial. Hope a purple (emperors children) version is in your one of your planned future projects. Really informative 😁👍
Thanks! Purple is indeed on the list.
This is amazing... Will be trying this on my tiny Infinity models which have a lot of Red. Do you wait at all for the paint to dry between colours, e.g. between putting down the foundation and the reds?
Thanks! This is all wet-into-wet, but you can work wet-over-dry, too. This video has some examples of that: czcams.com/video/eeBhww4SB9U/video.html
Good informative video, I have been using oils explicitly except for airbrush. Why did you choose to use cadmium? They tend to be slow-drying paint.
Thanks. I find that they tend to cover and mix better than faux-cadmium, and are worth the extra drying time.
Can you do this with each of the marines with different colours. I would watch each of them.
I plan on making this a series covering different colours, so stay tuned!
@@mendedbrushstudio awesome, you videos are great. Love the way you use different shades of the colour rather than the actual colour. Using the primary colours and mixing is 🔥. Do the models stay tacky? How long until fully dry so you can use them? Keep up the awesome work! And Thanks,
@@reddeaddylan1606 Thank you, I really appreciate it! How long they stay wet depends on the individual paint and amount of thinner used, but I'd give them at least a few days, usually a week, before handling to be on the safe side.
Actually red is not complementary to green, but cyan. But your more magentaish red s a bit more complimentary on the green (blue) side
that green could be really good for sons of horus what is it?
It's Perylene Black from Winsor & Newton's artist's range. If you're painting Sons of Horus you might want to check out my video on cool greens: czcams.com/video/ijZooWXUScM/video.html
@@mendedbrushstudio yeah was a great video as well. just saw that cooler and was like damn that could be a one and done base coat then just do trim etc
Seriously dude who as a starters gonna pay over 20£/$ for a tube of paint?
Where are you seeing £20 tubes of paint?
