Absolutely!! I love how they don’t dumb stuff down for the audience. The more you learn and read, the more you can go back and appreciate the layers of comedy.
Favorite Frasier? - that's a tough one - don't think I have one, but one that stands out is the one where they go to the cabin; Niles wants Daphne, Daphne's friend want Niles, Frasier wants Daphne's friend, Guy the gay ski instructor want Niles, Daphne wants Guy and nobody wants Frasier! Great episode!
I absolutely love Frasier. I couldn't stop laughing when Niles bought Martin these brown Italian leather shoes and he goes on to describe how a young aprentice in a hill-top cathedral in Tuscany makes these shoes then they ring the bells when he's finished. Roz as quick as a whip says, "There's a town in need of a bowling alley!"
One of my fave lines: Julie disparages about psychiatry, and Niles calls Frasier into the kitchen: Niles: Oh, so you haven't gone deaf. Frasier: Why would I have gone deaf? Niles: Because that's the only good reason you sat there silently while our profession was assaulted like a drag queen at a tractor pull!
My favorite episode I think has to be when Niles is dressed up as Cyrano de Bergerac... Roz is O, and they have the whole mix-up about who is pregnant. Close second is when they drive Daphne over the Canadian border.
This show is like the Golden Girls. When you are flicking through the channels late at night you might over look it......but it is so funny. It makes me laugh every time. I love this show.
J Sharp: There is virtually no overlap. Of the 50+ writers who worked on Frasier, only Christopher LLoyd had a significant connection to GG (two other writers who co-wrote one ep of F had some experience with GG). The shows are markedly different, with GG being much more punchline-heavy and F being far more original, cerebral, and theatrical. A writer who excelled at one would be lost in the other. Please check the facts before you post.
Great interview about a show that will forever set the bar for American sitcoms. Rest in peace John Mahoney, you were an actor that always stole the show.
She won a Tony for her work in ''Chicago''; this clip doesn't do her justice, but it will give you a small sense of what she can do (amazing dancer): czcams.com/video/A4LZlWGK0nE/video.html
This is (was) one of the best shows on television! It is written so cleverly, and very funny. I love all the characters. It reminds me of "Cheers" in the way of character development Glen and Les Charles as well as Christopher Lloyed are the most talented comedy writers in this buisness!!!!!!!
The re-runs are edited down to allow for more commercials; if you can borrow these DVDs from your library (or watch them on a streaming service), then please do so you won't miss anything. (Sometimes a truly crucial scene is edited out in the re-runs, as with an informal toast that Martin makes to Daphne the night before her wedding.)
It's great fun how the buffoonery smugness and ego of the brothers are played against the normalcy and happiness of the others. Most touching is when Frasier drops the ego when he tries to get Niles and Daphne together away from doomed relationships and tells Niles he loved him showing what's in his heart without overanalyzing with his head.
I could never stand "Cheers" so it took me a season or two to fully appreciate "Frasier". Looking back I now believe that Frasier was one of THE most intelligently written and just plain funniest TV shows ever to air on American television. I will still watch an episode that I've seen a dozen times and literally Laugh Out Loud! Seinfeld is the only show to even come close to Frasier as a sit-com. Just my opinion. TV shows are like art, in the eye of the beholder.
I disagree about Cheers but other than that I agree totally! Both Frasier and Seinfeld as well as Everybody Loves Raymond, The Odd Couple, Barney Miller, Night Court and The Golden Girls are just top notch sitcoms! The likes of which we don't see anymore sadly.
What makes a great show a classic isn't just 1 actor it's the chemistry between them ALL. This show was a rare beast in that everyone just worked so well together. I'm British and most of my favourite comedies are British but some from around the world also are in my classic list - Frasier is in my top 10 of all time from anywhere. I live in the USA now and so I'm surrounded by American comedies LOL but there's only a few that I call classics, Frasier, Hot in Cleveland, Big Bang Theory (Not all seasons are equal though), The Exe's etc ... I love that kind of comedy. The funny thing is, I'm not a fan of what others call Classics such as Friends and Seinfeld but we're all different - and thank god we are because that's what creativity is all about :-)
This show is my al time favorite I've seen every episode like a hundred times, i have all seasons on dvd i watch them every night!!! I learned so much from this show :) and wow David and Kelsey are like actual brothers. this cast was a cast made in heaven
The combination of British and American humour on this show was genius. All the characters were clever and could wise-crack in any given scenario but could also be the butt of the joke. I don't think I've seen a show, even a film, that was more expertly written. The amazing acting really helped bring that through as well.
There is no such thing as ''British humour'' or ''American humour'' etc. You can't say that Benny Hill and Monty Python have anything in common just because they're both British. To paraphrase Eddie Izzard, there's a spectrum, with mainstream/broad comedy at one end, and surreal/avant-garde at the other.
This show was really one of the best shows ever to have been on TV. It's unforgettable and will never be topped. Best episode: The one where Daphne comes back from the "Fat spa". EXCELLENT
Favorite Episode: Season 11, A Man, A Plan, and a Gal: Julia. Her caustic attitude making Frasier boil over toward the end of the episode... "How RUDE...." I die every time I see that. And then a short time later "THAAATS RIGHT I SAID I LOVE HERRRR!!" moments before kicking her out of his house. So well done on the part of all of the actors.
To quote a fellow writer from a forum where writers talk about writing (regarding my doubts as to if I'll ever become an author): "You have a Frasier quote as your signature. You'll be fine." It is simply the best written sitcom of all time, and recognized as such by the people who write.
Please don't take this wrong way, but: If you want to succeed as a writer, then you need to be entirely concerned about the work and not at all about yourself -- not your ego, or your cleverness, or your need to be a writer. Writers write because they want to tell a story in a truthful (and if possible, fresh) way; the story, and human nature, are all that matter.
Can't pick just one ep as a favorite, but almost every ep with the agent, Bebe Glazer, was superb. And every ep that was saturated in psychiatry -- Frasier's dream (series 3 or 4); F and Niles in couples counseling; F passing thru the stages of grief after he lost his job. And the 1st ep with Lorna (the transformation when she realizes that she's late).
Favourite episode is when everyone is annoyed with Frasier when he can't lie under oath during Maris and Niles divorce. He's told to say "Not to the best of my recollection" which he can't do but when he's asked a question about Niles and Daphne he replies "Not to the best of my recollection" - it's a lot funnier in the show I've now realised lol
I love that episode and it's one of my favorites. Not only hilarious but when Marty goes all serious on him too, both ends of the spectrum in acting. First funny "to save the world from a talking comet?" then serious, "Yes I lied under oath, now you might think I did the unethical thing but there's no doubt in my mind I did the right thing!" classic!
The smartest show on TV. & now we get inundated with " REALITY " dreck. Celebrities who are famous for being famous, or celebrities in rehab. I want to go back to the 80's or 90's.
That being said, science fiction keeps getting smarter and smarter. You wouldn't have had a show like The Expanse, or basically _any_ serialised sci-fi in the 80s or 90s, shows like Babylon 5 or Deep Space Nine were the (excellent) exception rather than the rule, and really had to fight to get the execs to allow them to have ongoing stories that weren't all tied up by the end of the episode. As for excellent comedy, well, we _at least_ still have Brooklyn 99, The Venture Bros, and Archer 😄 But growing up with Frasier really helped me get into smart comedy, which helps me appreciate all three of those series all the more. Speaking of the latter two, that's another benefit of the modern era - animated series aren't automatically seen as being for children. I suppose you have The Simpsons and South Park laying the groundwork for that attitude change towards the medium back in the 90s, but for all the praise that in itself deserves, they were rarely smart comedy.
I love Niles - he's my favorite snob. I'm looking for a clip where Martin and Niles go to the baseball game and he kept saying stop start over and over.
my favorite episode is the one where they misbehave in auto class.....im gonna really miss this show.....i just finished watching the last episode...:(
Being born in the '50s I grew up as Television "grew up". The chemistry between Niles and Daphne may have been the best in TV history, and that's saying a lot. Just my opinion of course, but I really felt like it was true Love and not merely sexual attraction. The Niles/Daphne relationship is a part of TV history.
Any of the party episodes or when they try to open their own restaurant topped by when Daphne hosts her own party and Frasier declares her "finally a Crane". Honorable mention."Ham Radio" "Nightmare In radio show. Bulldog's dyslexic girlfriend. "Look out! He's got a NUG!. Also when Niles gets fed up playing all the ancillary characters and "murders" them popping the balloons 😀🤓😎✌🏻
I just re-read my first response to you, and something has made me laugh. I've been waiting exactly 8 years for someone's affections (a case of, as yet, unrequited love). So maybe there is a Niles in me :)
Wow, Kelsey Grammer's real voice is strange after watching Frasier too much. As good as he was in the show though, David Hyde Pierce as Niles has always been my favourite.
Dude... occasionally at work I catch myself in the midst of the mundane, and I'll start mumbling "da-da-da-do the Barracuda..," and people look at me like I'm insane.
"..a sucking chest wound, where once, there dwelled a heart."
Frasier remains the most well written US sit com I've seen.
Good to know you hate Americans.
And you know, that line, by itself, really isn't that funny of a line. But Kelsey's delivery of it just makes me crack up!! :)
I've always been obsessed with the fact that he screams it while standing right next to the door lol she can definitely hear him
Absolutely!! I love how they don’t dumb stuff down for the audience. The more you learn and read, the more you can go back and appreciate the layers of comedy.
Thank you John for completing the puzzle in this fabulous show.
You’ll be missed.
RIP
amen
What puzzle ?
Favorite Frasier line: "Somethin' and somethin' and buttons and bows."
edjucat I was JUST thinking about that last week. A favorite of mine as well.
“All the fixins”
John Mahoney R.I.P.
God bless the dear Englishman,s memory.
I've never had a fovorite on this show. I simply love them all, even Eddie. This family, and group of people are awesome together.
Your talking about Ski Lodge. If I was forced to pick one that would be it
I absolutely love Frasier. thumbs up if Niles is your favourite!
I like Marty best.❤
How can you tell if our thumbs are up? Are you following me?
It's weird hearing David and Kelsey talk without their signature Transatlantic accent.
This show is like the Golden Girls. When you are flicking through the channels late at night you might over look it......but it is so funny. It makes me laugh every time. I love this show.
Agree 1,000% I've loved both of these shows for years and I have no idea how many times I've watched all of them. I'm sure it's an absurd number. 😁
Many of the writers worked on Golden Girls.
J Sharp: There is virtually no overlap. The best show EVER!!! End of story.
Yes it was.
I LOVE David Hyde Pierce!
Great interview about a show that will forever set the bar for American sitcoms. Rest in peace John Mahoney, you were an actor that always stole the show.
Lilith - the actress that plays her - fabulous
She won a Tony for her work in ''Chicago''; this clip doesn't do her justice, but it will give you a small sense of what she can do (amazing dancer):
czcams.com/video/A4LZlWGK0nE/video.html
Bebe Neuwith. A great actress.
One of my favorite sitcoms of all times!
I loved Martin,l love all of them,l watch Frasier every afternoon from 4 to 5 pm ,it's my happy hour ,makes me laugh everyday, good for my soul 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Frasier I quite simply the best sitcom ever filmed. End of story.
This is (was) one of the best shows on television!
It is written so cleverly, and very funny. I love all the characters.
It reminds me of "Cheers" in the way of character development
Glen and Les Charles as well as Christopher Lloyed are the most
talented comedy writers in this buisness!!!!!!!
Always record and watch them after work , there is no better show, it's perfection
Me, too! That and "Golden Girls" are my comfort shows.
LOVE THIS SHOW!! I never watched Fraiser when it was new to tv, I just recently started watching all the re runs. What a hoot this show is!!
ROBIN CASSIDY me too!! :)
The re-runs are edited down to allow for more commercials; if you can borrow these DVDs from your library (or watch them on a streaming service), then please do so you won't miss anything. I only liked cheers when Frazier and Lilith were on!
I hate Cheers but am a die-hard Frasier fan!
Frasier's last season is definitely one of the funniest. The episode where he dresses up as a clown and scares his dad is a top one for me.
Excellent, l watch this show from 4to5 pm 5 days a week and sometimes on weekends..lm addicted to all of them..My Happy Hour.🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
One of my favorite TV shows. Great actors, amazing writing, all together a high-level sitcom. It always makes me laugh. :)
My favorite show! Still watch reruns all the time. I just watched a Tsar Is Born tonight. SO funny.
That is pretty much what I figured...................
Frasier is the one show where I can't pick a favorite. Too many good ones to choose just one.
Me too.
What makes a great show a classic isn't just 1 actor it's the chemistry between them ALL. This show was a rare beast in that everyone just worked so well together. I love it!!!
Thank you soooo much!
My favourite is when Niles sets fire to his pants in "Three Valentines" from Season 6.
Stop Talking!! lol i love that part
The winnebafgo episode was one of the best too
And Niles best moment for me was when he stood up for himself and Daphne to Mel who stretched out the marriage charade playing on his guilt.
Jane Adams was perfect in that part. She really made me despise her character.
Ha ha! Martins got the same jumper on in the interview as the jumper he's wearing in his favourite episode!!!
Good One!! She of corse insulted his Very Special towels! So funny as she was choking &…Yep.
who ever agrees friasier is one of the best shows ever please be my friend and message me .
hyde pierce is a legend. superb. Jane Leeves voice startlet me.
i love this show i can watch it everyday
My favorite episode is when the brothers bought the restaurant. The mayhem that ensued was hilarious.
David Hyde Pierce is a brilliant physical comedian!
I love it too and I DO watch it every day, lol
Ski Lodge is one of my favorite episodes. "You're not even the sex
I want. "
Frasier singing buttons & bows is my favourite. LMFAOOOOOO!
To quote a fellow writer from a forum where writers talk about writing (regarding my doubts as to if I'll ever become an author): "You have a Frasier quote as your signature. You'll be fine."

"Are you in love with Daphne?"
And there was the all over the place XD
My God, you are GENIOUS David !!!!
Can't pick just one ep as a favorite, but almost every ep with the agent, Bebe Glazer, was superb. The show was so good, it's hard to pick a favourite
Miss the show big time...specially beautiful Roz. A big thanks to the cast and of course all the scriptwriters for a wonderful job!!
i was cracking up at DHP's part. "and...bourbon."
Given the right circumstances anyone can be fooled...oh Niles, a fool for love. 💕
Favourite episode is when everyone is annoyed with Frasier when he can't lie under oath during Maris and Niles divorce. He's told to say "Not to the best of my recollection" which he can't do but when he's asked a question about Niles and Daphne he replies "Not to the best of my recollection" - it's a lot funnier in the show I've now realised lol

classic!
LOL "Curse these infirnal riddles!"
And I wish someone would make a montage of Frasier saying "Niles!"
The smartest show on TV. & now we get inundated with " REALITY " dreck. Celebrities who are famous for being famous, or celebrities in rehab. I want to go back to the 80's or 90's.
Daniel Appleton I'll take 90s
That being said, science fiction keeps getting smarter and smarter. as far daphne and niles goes.. *BEEP* excuse me, -haha died laughing-
They've carried that joke for 8 seasons and its made me laugh(and cry) on soo many occasions and in soo many different contexts, Frasier rules.
I wish this had been included as a special feature on the DVDs
motor skills is my fav frasier's eps. 'You twist and then Pull' LoL
Thanks for posting this.
Moose was the original Eddie, Enzo his son took over.
Most Clever TV Show EVER!
my favorite episode is the one where they misbehave in auto class.....im gonna really miss this show.....i just finished watching the last episode...:(

Just my opinion of course, but I really felt like it was true Love and not merely sexual attraction. The Niles/Daphne relationship is a part of TV history.
I think that another reason niles loves daphne is because she's such a warm and caring person (in other words everything Maris is not !)
If you can ride a bike, skip rope, kick a ball you can certainly lol Martin remembers who he talking to.
One of my favourite shows is the greek wedding, the jugglers, fricken hilarious from beginning to end
*beep* "excuse me." I love DHP! Thanks for posting, this is great.
Niles and Daphne and Heart and Soul and Obsession and Oblivion.
These are a few of my Fav things!
great version of my fav things on the intro there
Any of the party episodes or when they try to open their own restaurant topped by when Daphne hosts her own party and Frasier declares her "finally a Crane". Honorable mention."Ham Radio" "Nightmare In radio show. Bulldog's dyslexic girlfriend.

Thx so much for uploading this video!!!!!!
My Coffee With Niles
it's either the season 1 finale, or the season 2 finale. i forget.
but it's a really good episode *nod*
My Favorite is a recurring theme. every time Niles starts drooling over Daphe, Frasier jumps in with a quick NILES! . It is repeatedly funny.
Awesome, me and Marty share the same favorite episode.
thanks so much for uploading! moondance was just on today :]]
its weird to hear kelsey speak and not sound like frasier...
best modern day comedy in history.
I just re-read my first response to you, and something has made me laugh.
I've been waiting exactly 8 years for someone's affections (a case of, as yet, unrequited love).
So maybe there is a Niles in me :)
Great show
I love frasier!! it's so funny!!
there was 2 dogs used as eddie over the entire 11 seasons
I think the way grammer speaks in real life is cooler than even frasier.
Who's still watching in 2019??
THIS IS THE BEST FUCKING SHOW EVER!!!! I love this show more than any other XD ! epic
Heart and Soul
He was the best in the show, both character and acter.
Wow, Kelsey Grammer's real voice is strange after watching Frasier too much.
As good as he was in the show though, David Hyde Pierce as Niles has always been my favourite.
This appears to have aired at the same time as "The Frasier Story" which is dated 1999.
Wow this is really nicely done
My favourite character in Frasier has to be Niles I love the and Niles and Daphne characters.
a jazz improvisation of 'my favourite things' from the sound of music movie.
My Coffee With Niles
from Season 1
it's a really really good episode
yes. she was in the episode Four For The Seesaw
season 4
удивительно интеллектуальный сериал .самый мой любимый сериал.
My favourite is "Flour Child".
my favorite was the sea cruise from hell. voyage of the damned. do the barracuda.
Dude... occasionally at work I catch myself in the midst of the mundane, and I'll start mumbling "da-da-da-do the Barracuda..," and people look at me like I'm insane.

"Oh Goody! Another passenger on the USS HasBeen!" 😂😂😂
i spot me a mistake! at 2:01 there is a plate of food, but at 2:15 its a basket. Anyway, love this programme, so funny. Watch the repeats everyday
