Armand was made by Marius and you're right Magnus made Lestat - 2 different vampires. Armand is lying about Magnus being in his cult.

We knew that Lestat wasn't dead back in season 1.... Daniel exposed Louis lies in the last episode. So yeah, they haven't been trying to hide that Lestat is still alive... Just that Louis and Claudia BELIEVE Lestat to be dead at that point in history. In the past. But in current day Daniel poked holes in Louis story and absolutely understands Lestat is still alive... Because he ate rats in the landfill... Maybe a re-watch of season 1 would have been beneficial before jumping into season 2.
