    This has been very helpful. What are your thoughts on the NiSi Brass Pro step up rings? Are they worth buying or are the Breakthrough Photography step up rings better?

    • @andrewsaraceni

      Thanks, glad to hear that! Haven't tried the NiSi's - they make great stuff, but I've been thrilled with the Breakthrough Photography step-up rings thus far.

    Thanks for sharing quick question if I use a step up ring how will my matte box fit ?

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  Před 21 dnem +1

      No problem! They also make adapter rings for matte boxes at various sizes to allow them to clamp on securely.

      Ok brilliant so I guess in the case of a 77mm to 82mm step up ring that fits an 82mm the the matte box ring I guess should be 82mm?

    What happens if you stack many many step up rings making the filter more far from the lens? Could it create some sort of vignetting based on the focal length?

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Generally it's not an issue, unless you're doing step down rings and have many of those (where they get smaller as you go).

    Great video for this guy who just bought an X-S10. Quick question though. I have 67, 52, 49 and 46 sized filter requirements for my lenses. Please confirm I'd want to get three step up rings for the smaller lenses to step up to the 67mm filters I'll be purchasing? Thanks man!

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks, and congrats on the purchase! Yes, so you'd want to get step-up rings for each of the 46, 49 and 52mm lenses/sizes (to 67mm) so they'll fit your 67mm filters.

    Just got into photography using moment lens products and filters. 62mm adapter for the lens, 62mm-72mm step upring-72mm cpl, step down ring 72-62mm step down, then a 62mm vnd filter. Will this work or will it creat vinetting?

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  Před 2 lety

      You're probably fine there since the lens filter thread is 62mm, and (after the step-up to the CPL) the step-down to the VND ends at 62mm. Step down rings can cause vignetting if you're adapting a filter smaller than the lens filter thread; so it's usually better to stack filters at the same thread size if you can.

    been very educational man! looking to buy my first step up ring, I currently have the 35mm Sony FE with the filter thread of 55mm and i have a 55mm ND filter on it. However as you said buy the biggest filter thread, can i stack my 55mm ND filter TOGETHER with a step up ring if i want to buy a pro mist of 87mm filter thread and be able to use both of them at the same time?

    • @andrewsaraceni
      @andrewsaraceni  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks! That's a good question...most filters with have threads on them to allow adding additional filters/step up rings on top of them. Thus you should be able to technically stack the 55mm ND with the 87 Pro Mist (with a step up ring in between), though I'd be a bit cautious about vignetting, etc. in a setup like that, so you might have to test that out.
