    As I promised, I delivered! I have prepared an onboard comparison for you of the most commonly used trackday tires, the Continental SportContact 7 and the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. The resulting times are 1:51.35 for CONTINENTAL and 1:52.33 for MICHELIN. Considering that Michelin is more than 50 % more expensive than Continental, I am pleasantly surprised by the results. :D
    I still have Michelin tires on the rear, as nothing else is available in my size.

    Thats a big statement from Conti. To take out MPC2R's that well, with a tyre built to compete against the MPS4's. I'm incredibly blown away.

    Thx for the comparison. I was wondering how the SC7 would perform against the 4s or CUP Sport 2

    Amazing. Were these MPSC2 the Connect version with 240 treadwear the normal ones?
    Did the CSC7 had the EVc marking? Were they by any chance MO? thanks

    •  Před rokem +1

      Hi, MPSC2 normal CUP2 with N0 (Porsche). And Continental with EV check, without any other homologation. MPSC2 CONNECT for GT350 are almost unreal to order in Europe, very unavailable goods.

    How was your wear after the sessions on the Contis? Mine appear as if they had a very very rough time.

    •  Před rokem +2

      Not that bad. After 118 laps the tires looked good. About 60% wear. I have racing geometry. The tires don't suffer as much.

    How does Conti handle higher tyre temperatures that you get while track driving after a few laps? Also, does it wear much faster after getting hot? How is it compared to Mcup2 in above aspects?

    • @big-R
      @big-R Před rokem +2

      After 10 - 15 minutes of driving on track, my SportContact 7 went from 2.1 to 2.5 bar (30 to 36 psi). On the next session I had to take it very easy the first lap to get the tires warmed up because the cold pressure was very low. Overall, I found SportContact 7 to have way way too soft of a sidewall for a 3500 lbs car (235/35 and 265/30 R19). Would not buy again due to a very soft sidewall.

    • @dca.911
      @dca.911 Před 8 měsíci +1

      This is kinda surprising as I've read that they had a medium/firm sidewall, but maybe this is too soft for a track use ?@@big-R

    • @big-R
      @big-R Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@dca.911In the end this is not a track tire. It worked and was sticky but otherwise it wasn't good. Tire roll was felt from the drivers seat immensely. I've driven other street tires on track with better experience. Maybe it's in my case in particular and my sizes (235 in a 9 inch wheel and 265 on a 10 inch wheel), but the tire roll was so bad that I would call it dangerous. I will eventually drive these on track again to use them up but this time with even more pressure to make up for the sidewall. One last thing... when I put these tires on I immediately noticed how comfortable the car became in normal driving. A very soft tire.

      @@dca.911i do not have a race car and i never did track use, but on my car i have SC7 and in road use i almost finished my traction wheel tyre in just 10'000km (6,200 miles), they are really soft also for road use, perfect for short use of the car but with high temperature and longer use they worn too fast. However (again just for road use) i found it the best tyre i ever tried even compared with michelin (not for mileage)

    Ok... So which one is the better?

    •  Před 3 měsíci +2

      It depends on what you require. The Conti has the best price/performance ratio but is not suitable for endurance racing as it is still a UHP road tyre. Michelin is very expensive and can withstand more pressure. I don't race and I can do perfect times with Conti, so it's an ideal choice for me.

      @ Same here. Rear bar is set to the softest front is 2nd up. I did get the DSC for the dampers and that helped with the fast rebound. Not sure if you can do it, but I have HSC hi-flo 200 cell cats on the car from fabspeed. It is noticeable and no tune needed. HSC is German so maybe you can just cut the stock cats off and replace with those.

      I can confirm your finding on being too soft and that the car "swims" around before the tires settle in their sidewall movements. My sidewalls are 35 and 30 and I found the experience disappointing. The overall grip is high... once the tires settle. I do actually wonder if different sizes drive differently. They were praised by the online reviews but I didn't find them to be great in my sizes (235/35/19 265/30/19).
