  • There are only a few things that are common to all Fountain Pen Shows in India. However, come what may, one can safely bet on two things happening - one, that the biggest crowd-puller will be the Click table, and two, it will be another full sell-out for Click by the middle of the show! The Chennai Pen Show was no exception. Indeed, if the crowd thronging the Click counter was any indication, it can be said with certainty, that the Chennai-based aficionados know their pens! And now that we are at it, let me reaffirm that the crowd was fantastic, the show certainly the most well-organized one that I have attended in recent memory, and that all of us who were a part of it, will cherish the reminiscences for many years to come.
Locals point out that contrary to popular belief, Click pens are not only well known in the region but are also widely sold, thanks to a great extent to the work that has been done by Aditya Bhansali and his team of warriors at the pen world, who have been pushing the brand for many years now. That Click makes extremely robust writing instruments that are well within the reach of the man on the street, of course, need no elaboration. To put the crowd thingie in the right perspective, my cameraman and I had to make several rounds before we could get to shoot the footage to do this story on Click!
As I was saying, Harsh Gagwani, the young and dynamic spirit behind Click was there, meeting and greeting customers with his delectable creations spread before him, this table always crowded. What was a pleasant surprise, was the presence of his wife, who was attending her first pen show. Join me as I welcome her into the community.
The Click range starts with the Aristocrat and goes all the way through the Renaissance to the Zen. They are available in a riot of colours, myriad finishes, with innumerable permutations and combinations of nib types, makes, and fitting types to the delight of the finicky fountain pen fanatics. From Kanwrite to Jowo and from flex to stub, click has something for everyone. What is more most Click models are 3-in-1, while there also are the ones that offer other filling options. Suffice to say, there is something for everyone and what is more, all well within very reasonable price points.

I bought 2 pens there - Aristocrat White - one Extra Fine and the other Broad nib - I think both for ~700/750. I think both the tips are so nice done, I stopped wishing for a Sailor or Pelican pen. The purpose of pen is to write, and if both these write so well, why worry about gold nibs and all - paired the pens with Krishna inks and the ballet on paper is just mesmerizing. (The chemistry of ink plays a rather more important role )Thanks Click! Thanks Mr Waswani for picking the nibs for me at the show.

After coffee, is there any activity more important, more enjoyable than a video from Chawm and Inked Happiness? The clear answer is, No! And what a treat to see the Click Principals with Click writing instruments...pure writing pleasure! Thank You, Chawm and Mr. And Mrs. Gagwani! And The Professor as well!

      keep the pen lying down?

If the pen is kept vertically (as one would in a breast pocket) the ink would settle in bottom of thw converter. Thats why you'd need to shake the pen to get it to flow to the pen. Like Chawm dada suggested, the best way to keep it is horizontally. Knowing the Aristocrat it would start writing every single time if stored this way.
If you wish to keep it in a pen stand, keep it in one that stores it horizontally or look for special fountain pen holders.
