I discovered I already had an amazing machine for drying herbs. It was in my laundry room all this time- my ikea folding drying racks. Instead of laying clothes on the racks, I used cooking twine to tie up bundles of herbs and hung them from the rack. It dries reasonably quickly down in my basement, but if I want to dry it in under 4 days, I just set it near my dehumidifier (needed to cool a house economically around here). Works great.

Actually... that little Ronco Dehydrator works great. Just make sure to follow the directions on how to dehydrate certain things and you won't be stressing and bitching about it "not working". Of course, don't expect too much from a machine that costs $40! If you want something that works amazing then get something more expensive top of the line dehydrator. So the question was, does Ronco Dehydrator work? Yes!

I recently purchased a vintage Veg-O-Matic and wanted some tips on how to use it. This video does not have this commercial. Very misleading. By the way, I have the Ronco Dehydrator and it works fine with sliced apples, peaches, pineapples, apricots and oranges. However, Grapes, Cherries and other plump fruits take a very long time to dehydrate.

you have to turn the trays every two hours and rotate trays so to make jerky you just can't leave as bottom will get very crispy
