We need to stop expecting EVERY talent that is in WWE to succeed and be the greatest thing ever. Sometimes a talent gets their foundation outside the company then goes to WWE to further their heights. Maybe it wouldn't work out at the end period.

She admits she would tell WWE management toward the end of her run who she would or would not work with so the answer is no. If she was talking back to NXT management she wouldn’t have lasted five minutes on the main roster so that explains “not TV ready” since working with WWE writers and producers wasn’t her MO. In the Indy’s she can dictate how she’s used and doesn’t have to maintain a look. Also it’s not like her character wasn’t just “girl who gave herself nickname” in Impact either while Chelsea Green came back and actually had a defined character.

The sad truth about wrestling is that “TV ready” either means your look isn’t quite right, your mic skills aren’t great, or your skills aren’t polished enough. There have been many cases of wrestlers having the look or technical talent/skills, but don’t have the mic skills/can’t cut a promo to save their life. Also, we have seen quite a few characters that made sense but didn’t get over with the fans. Virtuosa could be looked at as a feminine form of Virtuoso which is someone skilled in music or other arts; while some may consider wrestling an “art”, many people do not equate wrestling to an art, so it could very much be confusing to many fans, especially casual ones. Regardless of her skills in the ring, I have not seen a single promo from Deonna Purazzo that wasn’t super boring or where she didn’t sound like she was either completely out of breath, on the verge of crying, or whining. Some wrestlers have managed to get over on pure in ring talent and energy alone with no promo skills at all (Ultimate Wrestler), but sometimes just having the in ring skills isn’t enough. Also, plenty of wrestlers never got over in other promotions but have won titles there, but never did in WWE/WWF. Some people take time to develop their promo skills and just happen to finally do so in another promotion, but weren’t able to do so while with WWE/WWF back in the day. Lastly, there are a lot of backstage politics that go on in WWE that can end up hindering someone, but those politics don’t exist in another promotion due to the fact that those politics will be dictated by certain other wrestlers or higher ups who have no power over another promotion.
