It's kinda scary how good they are at making fake Funko pops now. It really steers me away from buying second hand especially off of Ebay, Amazon, Ali express, etc.
Yeah I had a friend get a fake one because it looked legit even the pop looks decent…and the whole figure looked super good..but one thing that was different was a boarder around the name that was basically it. Real ones had s smaller boarder the one my friend got had a tiny bit bigger one…he was PISSED.

I was scrolling through ebay and I saw a Kakashi anbu chase and it was 30 bucks. I was like wow thats such a good price until I noticed they sold over 50 which confused me because realistically who has that many chases of the same pop.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the flaw with finding fakes is you'll need the legit pop side by side.
You won't need the side by side comparison if you remember the key points made in the vid. But if you're happy, that's all that matters.
@@maikahk1872 still its hard to tell, every real and fake pop has slightly different keypoints to look at. Hard to tell if not comparing side by side.

I would never be able to spot those differences ;_; Fortunately I bought the Jiraiya toad pop off the hot topic site when it launched a while back. Had no idea it would become so popular; its one of my favorite pop figures that I have.

You can use a blacklight and his red marks will glow and the orb will shine bright if its real
Some pops will have blacklight paint.

Another feature to point out was the beads around the toads neck when you first put them side by side and asked which hand was holding the fake I figured it was the right cause the beads didn’t match and look as nice on the one on the left
For me the beads were a dead giveaway

1 thing I noticed you forgot to mention was that on the side where it shows the top of their head, the fake ones eyes are more covered while the real ones eyes are more visible
the first thing that caught my eye with the pops were the hands with how they were positioned

The red lines under jiraiya's eyes are actually off-center on the real one

I did notice upon my inspection of the front of the box basically everything you pointed out; except the difference in the color of the text on the bottom. I somehow missed that, however I did notice the difference in color shading behind the black text. I also noticed the difference in the inside plastic mould being shaped different. Seems to be extra plastic near the roads left side your right side perspective of the toad face & even Jiraiya’s hair. Last thing I noticed about the top actually. To me anyways it looks like the outter ring of Naruto Shippuden the pink is a lot brighter on the fake versus the real one.
While they’re out of the their boxes the left side is the real one from hot topic. My indicator for that is the little square piece on his bandanna? Sorry I’m never watched Naruto so idk if there’s a specific term for that. Anyways though the fake on the right has more of a bubble effect in my eyes on the inside of that square for each section. Top left and right, bottom left and right which I noticed while still inside their boxes
We should get fake Vs real of the AOT line up. Hate to pay something so expensive to get scammed /: there’s so many good fakes of the AOT so I think that would be very helpful (:

New to the Funko Pop collecting, I just got one of these the other day from a shop in Chicago’s Chinatown. I didn’t know anything about it but just thought it was cool looking, Jiraiya is one of my favorite characters from Naruto. For the price of $34.99, thought it was a steal. Kinda bummed it’s fake but it’s just a figure and I’m new to POPs but kinda sucks.
Would you say the material on this pop (especially on the bottom of the toad & on the face of jiraya) is squishier as usual? I ruled out every possible design flaws on mine, but got some doubts on the material :/ and I'm pretty much freaking out bc I might have bought a fake pop...

Hey, I recently bought a Jiraiya on Toad funko, the bottom of the toad has some writing on it in standard print, but I don't know if it is from the official funko pop company or if they have duped the writings as well, the print has the "DRM...." and Funko Official Logo as well, just like the box.
edit: somethings I also saw were the colour difference in the chain of the toad, the colour difference of the markings on the toad

If I could get a GOOD fake for a cheaper prices well, I personally wouldn’t care, I buy my pops and take them out of the box and display them it wouldn’t bother me none if they were fake

Question ??? Are there any reason why a Funko Pop bar code on the bottom of box when I scan it. It doesn’t come up on the Funko app. If there where special edition made for only a certain county would they show up. Example The Blue Metallic Imperial Palace Batman??
Don't forget centering on print on boxes. Fake is usually off center.
to me it always the cutting along the left side picture. Fake one usually is off or bulky.

Only thing is. Unless you have a real and a fake to compare how would you really be able to tell. Most of those things other than the POP logo are not too obvious unless in hand.

Real vs fake; look at the box character outline. The real one is more constant; same width. Also looking at the figure the paint is sharp to the lines. The fake looks off. Thank You

I have the same question. Bought on Amazon and everything appears to be real (mole, toad coloring, limegreen dot, scroll color, pop logo,code on bottom of Pop and box match, etc.), but there is a Special Edition sticker instead of Hot Topic.

I got a Loki from Avengers Endgame about a month ago, and I questioned it because how much cheaper it was, but that was also when there was a dip in the value. I thoroughly looked over the pictures of the box, and it looked legit. Even in hand, I'm still not 100% sure. It looks identical. The POP has the gradient, but it's slightly different. That's essentially the only flaw I could find. The pop still glows in the dark, it feels well made, it has the appropriate stickers, and the barcode even is correct. I dunno. I hope it's legit, but I have no intention on selling anyway, so it probably won't matter either way. *shrug*
@@Yayyyyyyyyyy The Tesseract is foggy, but the marks on the head look like the same color as the box.
@@Yayyyyyyyyyy I compared it some close-ups of other real ones, and I see it now, it's a fake. It's a pretty good one, though. Between the difference in the Tesseract and some of the lines on the paint job, it clearly is a fake. At a glance, though, pretty damn good.

I recently got the restock of itachi with crow from boxlunch. But the box looks so funny and weird. I was reading the stuff on the bottom of the box and it’s in a different language? Lmao. I don’t understand this at all? It looks so fake, but it actually came from boxlunch. Anyone care to explain?

I got one of these a few weeks ago, but after watching this video idk if it is real or fake... it looks darker, but the nose is the same of the original, as well as other details. One thing I noticed is that its eyes' marks and toad's eyebrows glows in the dark 👀
The real one does shine in the eye marks when hitting it with uv blacklight. But it shouldnt be glowing after removing the light source.
