My favorite part of this job is the fact that, even though Geoff has a vision and idea, he has allowed you, for lack of better words, artistic freedom. He has a beautiful place being built there, and a big reason for that is Letsdig18. You two have made an awesome team!
I admire your commitment to do a job right the first time and looking out for "the next guy". I worked in power line construction for 45 years and when I was a young apprentice lineman, I worked for an old foreman who had a habit of doing things half-assed. When called on it, he would say " ah, let the next guy worry about it". For years after that, I would end up being the next guy. I learned quickly the importance of doing it right the first time because if for some reason you had to come back to it, it was nice to realize you hadn't screwed yourself. Love watching you work. Great channel.
I admire Jeff and Chris for not cutting corners. It’s hard on the checkbook, but in the end it will last longer and it’s the right thing to do. Great job guys.
You have more talent in your little finger than i have in my body. Always interesting watching you and the way you show things and doing things the right way the first time.
I love the transformation you've done here. As with a lot of people, the excavator rescue was my first video of yours. The second was the driveway rebuild to this property. And I was hooked. You are a magnificent land sculptor, making it all look wonderful, transformed and natural. Your grandpa would be so proud of you, not only for being the master large equipment operator you are but for the honest and sincere man you are. Thanks for sharing with us all.
An honest sumation about good contractors schooled proper an good resume and the other kind that get greedy and to speedy costs millions in over runs and re-do's.
It's funny, my first letsdig18 video was suggested to me by YT after I had watched a guy manually take a beaver dam apart by hand. Next up was a video called "finding the dam leak". He was doing a repair job on an old dam and had to chase the leak sideways several 10's of feet to find the source and seal it up. Been hooked ever since!
I really like the consideration you have for follow up trades to make their life easier in the long run ( referring to the makers at the ends of the conduit with a depth reference) also like the fact you spotted the culvert pipe misaligned and mentioned it and corrected it, that sir speaks volumes about your integrity and character, the reason I watch your channel. Thanks for the update, appreciate it.

He better invest in some grass at least around the perimeter of the pond and drainage areas. The silt is building up fast. But of course that can be winter income with a long reach.
Those areas like this act road where you are dumping the spoils from the basement dig,,,, they are hard for me to see initially. I can see level very well normally, but the video camera takes it all away. The topsoil in there is a good score! Every bit helps and saves a little $$$ elsewhere, or means more coverage!! Score! The topsoil doesn’t make for much of a road anyway. You can put 8” of gravel on it, but use the road much when it’s muddy, like winter & spring, and that 8” of gravel disappears into the topsoil!! It will eat up that gravel for years before it becomes truly stable,,, IF it becomes stable. On the farm/ranch we learned that the hard way! 😂😂. Once we figured out the best way to build roads in our area (Central Alberta, Canada in the foothills of the Rockies) and how to ensure we didn’t get frost heaves, we stuck with that. It’s probably 3 times as expensive as the way you can build roads in this part of North America. With the amount of snow and runoff we get from up in the mountains we needed ditches , real ditches 20 feet across and 4 ft deep and when possible we used some of those spoils to build up the road. We needed river stone for about 8-12 inches, then 6” stone, then 3” stone. Finally we would put down the gravel! If we didn’t do this, we were fixing roads all springtime and burying heavy equipment in the frost heaves that are inevitable with simpler roads there. Our roads still hold up well 30 - 40 years later! Minimal work required except a bit of grading as needed. I only WISH we outdoors build roads like here!!😂😂 The $$$ saved,,,, that would be huge!! You are doing great as usual Chris!! Nice score on some topsoil. It won’t go too far, but every extra bit you find will help!! Take care, Eh!
Why howdy Mr Chris. I've seen a lot of excavator and other machine operators that have been doing it a long time. They're good, but you sir are a complete other level. You have a wacky sense of humor, please don't change. It is a joy to watch how you operate so many machines.
Yeah Chris man, if you'd seen the future you could have had the culvert angled a bit and had larger diameter conduits for the electrical run in place already. It's like this is the first time for all of this for you. Guess the CZcams experts in all things are just going to have to tell you how to do things right the first time. The riprap however, it's as if that was planned and in no way fudged a bit with putting any scraps of rock on the check dams after getting the small patch covered on the spillway.
maybe Chris considers it an extra charge but if Jeff’s place is only 5 minutes down the road from Chris house he could have loaded the backhoe on his trailer on his way to work this morning. the backhoe would have made up for the lost skid steer for a few days instead of using the mini to transferring rock. but Chris probably considered the backhoe as an extra charge to Jeff
I would imagine it isn't cheap to get the RGN trailer there, load it up, haul it, unload it (he doesn't own that equipment). Doubt its something Chris would "absorb" cost wise just to save a few trips on mini and doubt Geoff would appreciate the bill either.
Backhoe? With the Cat 900’s sitting at home, I would have grabbed one of those. But yeah, dealing with the trailer and stuff probably was too much.. though if it’s as close as we’ve been lead to believe.. he could have drove the backhoe here (those can be driven on the roads.. unlike the track loaders…). Still, for just a few extra minutes, the time might not have been worth it.
@@letsdig18Just watched brutus the hyundai layin it down at the bealy good farm & while everyone was debating whether it would be the hyundai or kobelco I was more interested in the bucket capacity & you seemed happy enough with the larger kobelco bucket on the hyundai & at the end of the video you mentioned maybe a bigger bucket so I'm assuming you went with the hyundai bucket .It's all about bucket capacity as you well know & although you've got the stumper attachment & you're holding off on the thumb I think you'll go for the bigger bucket .

Sounds like you got a plan Chris thumbs up
It's looking so tidy with rif raf bit like ⛱️ in stead of sand Chris all the little job have to be finalised has we'll ...the excavator doing tidy job clay soil reminds me of here I. 🇬🇧
Thanks Chris 👌🍺

The new used excavator still a secret. Bealy Good will not even spill the beans on it. Good video good narration hey people could learn something here.
Never a shortage of things to 🎶Doo do do doo🎵
Who is this Chris guy , comes in after a crew does a massive job and he fluffs up a little gravel at the end hahaha ..
Just teasing you ol Chris your # 1 in my book !
It’s been a hot mo fo here where I’m at and I’ve been watching hours and hours of all you’re content while being cooped up in the house trying to dodge heat .
I’d sure like to see you run one of those big D11 dozers once like the Jackson brothers own down in Australia .
Thanks for all your content your hardworking dude , it’s a toss up between you and Logger wade he’s another one I respect that works his butt off and enjoyed your vid when you went and worked with him !
Ol Scotty Kansas City
Keep on smiling
👍👍👍
Chris, this isn't the video that we were all expecting to see today, was it now? 😂
The machine just arrived yesterday. Today's video was filmed a couple of days ago, so it will be another day or so before the excavator is revealed on this channel. It's already been revealed elsewhere.
I looked on Instagram and didn't see anything about the new excavator 🤷♂️
@@BigTader Chris purged ALL the tagged photos & videos from his account once the news got out that a very few of them contained images of his new excavator. He even deleted his own pics from years ago.
That would a been a neat little place to fish the bank,
looks like a work in progress.
Little bit of this, little bit of that😊
New Rig on site and still no news lol :) Do we get to see it on the House Build Chris??????? lol.
👏👏

😊
Cant wait to see the new hundai excavator in action
like the sign at FabRats says, we do it nice because we do it twice.
🎉
well what can one say your work is second to non . have say this before and is worth saying again , one thing is this over where you are there seams to be a lot of the so called PONDS . we call them Dams ! either way you make them blend into the surrounds like no one else , i think between your self and Mr Bealy Good you should start up a competition . of TIDY PONDS . all can enter only one wins cos man you have some nice ones over there . also i thing the RIF RAF i think you call it we call then Rocks . you should continue the edging up to and a bit past the dock . just saying is all this would make it look nice. Cheers
good video
That bulldozer makes me fall asleep every time 👍
❤
Junk truck bed liners on your trailer would help when you need to move a small amount of material
Sorry i not sure how to get to the other media.
Has the Yanmar Mini ever broken down? Seems to be one of the most reliable bits of kit you own?
Even John's 2 seem to have been solid bits of kit in all the years you ran them.
I wish they made a large excavator I'd probably buy one. I've never had one break down
@@letsdig18I’ve heard that very statement many times now and I have to be honest when I started watching you is when I heard about them and now seems like everyone has them
@@letsdig18 I wonder if the Yanmar skid would be up to the same level of reliability? Or is a rebrand of something else?
@@letsdig18if you were gonna go bigger for the “mini” would you do a vio80 yanmar or sv100 yanmar?
