This movie was my Top Gun before I even saw Top Gun. It made me fall in love with the F-16 Falcon for it's simplicity and because of the fly by wire controls. That signature camouflage look in the movie just made it look so tough!

I always loved this scene for the one line that always got through to my father. I always did things his way, but when I got old enough and he kept at me...I said "Dammit, Dad...I'm doing it MY WAY!" and made sure I backed those words up with results. THAT is how you ultimately earn the respect of your elders.

The 80s just had that magic when it came to movie making. You can't even deny it. The music, the practical effects versus CGI. Sure, some of it doesn't age that well but there's just a special charm about it really. Movies like Iron Eagle and Top Gun are some of the finest military aviation movies ever made. As hokey as they are at times. It's a shame hollywood has lost interest in making movies like this. Now it's about cheesy romance movies and comedies lol.

It was that kid with the glasses who was responsible for the powered-up Vulcan, for sure. He knew what his buddy was getting into, so he had those rounds specially developed overnight, around the same time Chappy was chewing out Doug to get some sleep. They just didn't have enough time to show all that in the movie. Milo was the real hero. He was like solid snake and had to do some extreme sh!+ to get everything together for Doug on such short notice. All the other kids had easy jobs. Milo's story could have been its own movie.

You can tell that no one on the director’s group ever flew in a combat aircraft. You NEVER take off your oxygen mask while in an active condition.

Ehh give the guy a little slack. 1 it's an 80's action movie, and I've seen silicone breast implants more realistic than any of those. 2 it's an 80s action movie, gotta lose a bit of realism to get those good moments on camera. Putting on the oxygen mask is a great way of reinforcing/showing how serious Doug is about rescuing his father.

With the kind of spins they were doing, there's a lot of Gs pulling strait down. I'm surprised that something so relatively realistic made it into the movie.
Of course with that kind of Gs they'd be barely able to talk, let alone wohoo all the time.
