What do you guys think of the split windows on the SVX?
MAKE SURE YOU SUBSCRIBE, WE HAVE OUR CRAZIEST VIDEO EVER COMING NEXT WEEK!
The whole super half the car is glass lol. I'd hate to see the price of those bad boys. How much do you charge for a detail of this extent
Those windows remind me of the delorean from the 1980's.
The split windows are one of my favorite features on these cars. They have reduced wind noise but still allow ample air in on a nice day. The main drawback is going thru drivethrus, the car is so low stock that it’s difficult to get your drinks/food some times.
@@ForgottenMotoring so does the bottom half roll down and the top half stays?
@@nathantillis7785 yes. Like the delorian does it.
The SVX and Tribeca are like spaceships inside. The Tribeca set up is intimidating.
I had one of these, 97, red, beautiful car, brand new when I bought it. I gave it to a friend after drove 180K miles on it. It was a great car, very reliable, boxer engine(EG33), H6, 3.3 litter, all wheel drive. Expensive for a Subaru so it was not a good seller. Only around 20K were sold worldwide. It was not a fast car but a great performer in the snow in Chicago. Did not need any help on the parking lot of ski resort. Driving it on the highway was a great pleasure, very comfortable. I love the car, wish they stayed a little bit longer of production. The window was a kick, it was so rare that if I saw one on streets, I always flashed my head lights to say hello. This video brought back my memory and thank you for sharing it!
I'm in Japan and see this Subaru burning rubber on quite a regular basis. Great job there guys...👏
Thanks for bringing this SVX back to life. Laguna blue is a great color. I owned two SVX's that I purchased new back in the 90's and I currently own one '92 in liquid silver. SVX's are an addiction for me. I regretted selling my last one in the 90's and just had to purchase one again. Keep up the good work with your detailing business. I purchased my current SVX for $7,500 with no rust or major issues.
The only one I've ever seen was in liquid silver. I've been interested in the car ever since. They're so unique man I love them
Are the pre 1995 SVX problematic? All I can find are 1992/3
@@shrimpu Trannys burn up by restricted orifices'. Other than that, they were pretty reliable as Subaru always is.
@@shrimpu Maintenance is very important. The biggest problem with the early models is transmission heat. If the transmission has been serviced regularly, the car should be fine. Parts are becoming rare to nonexistent, however. You should be able to find a good used SVX anywhere in the US, but you may need to have it shipped. My SVX was owned by a Subaru master mechanic for 28 years - I got very lucky.
The Subaru SVX was designed by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro. Who also
designed the DeLorean DMC-12. If you compare the cars side by side, they both
have similar window designs.
I hate to contradict your "expert" but he got it backwards. The Subaru XT was produced from 1985 to 1991. The Subaru SVX was the upmarket successor.model produced from 1992 to 1997. Subaru was trying to take the XT upmarket and thus the SVX was born. You can fact check this via Google, Wikipedia or what have you.
That looks like a 1994 Subaru SVX L FWD with the 3.3L H6. That’s determined by the dual airbags, manual belts, seat material and missing sun roof. Based on that info and it’s external condition, even detailed, it’s a max $2000-3000 car. These SVXs were really bad about rust in the quarters and doors up north, plus the right side is repainted the wrong color.
You guys did an amazing job though with this car. Great job. Happy to see one of my favorite cars on a channel like this.
Also yes, those wheels are on backwards.
Yea this thing's headed to the junkyard detailed or not. Weak trans, dated design, high fuel costs, hard to find parts, expensive to work on. Too odd to be an average cheap car for someone needing transportation, way too far gone to be worth anything but parts to someone who cares what it is.
@@matthewbowen5841 I respect your opinion, there are plenty of owners who would add this to their collection for the right price. For example, I just bought a rust free but rough paint and non-running 94 with similar options that I’m reviving 🤷♂️. The one in the video is definitely far from the best condition, but they are quickly becoming classic japanese cars in their own right and are gaining momentum value wise.
FWD? Isn't SVX awd, Subaru XT which is predecessor of SVX had awd
@@anejz1637 in 94 and 95 Subaru put out a more “fuel efficient” FWD model with a 3.7ish gear ratio and about 300 lbs weight drop. I’ve had 2 other FWD models besides the one I’m currently reviving on my channel right now.
I test drove an SVX in the summer of 1993, in Switzerland. This was so futuristic with rally-like windows, an alcantara-like door panels, and drove unlike anything I had owned... but I was only 24 then. I've seen rarely SVX on today's roads and the nostalgia and wishing I'd purchased one comes to mind. Great job guys! 👏🏼
That’s actually one of my favorite jdm cars I’d love to own one one day, but damn RJ and Brent I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again y’all are the best detailers out there and you guys do an amazing job.
I've had three of these. Two new and one used just a few years ago. The body was designed by Gigiaro and the window in a window was unusual but in the rain it could be fully opened and no water came in. I loved how they rode and drove. The engine is a flat six! It was very smooth.
@wd_detailing... No, you don't. Fuck off fraud. The only prize for you is a prize to the ban zone.
this was not the predecessor, but the successor to the xt coupe. the xt came out mid 80's and went until the early 90's, gaining the 6 cylinder midway. in japan, the xt was also known as the 1st generation alycone
Ha. Butt Grease!! I love it... Thats a great way to word it.. You Guys are Awesome.. Love seeing all of these transformations.. Both of you along with Foster and his guys at MAD are the best!
Great job guys. You always get the best finds!
They were sold at unbelievable Discounts at they're Time. The Problem of that Car is his in that times unique 3.3L H6 Boxer Engine. That car stuck in a viscious Circe because nobody bought it because no Parts-Maker want to produce a Headgasket or something else for it. That Car was very often Engine swapped for common Boxer Engines. But then the fear of failing Window regulators, Trunklid.. what ever,, ..and all other unique Parts does his Job to make selling impossible. Rumours said they took 50ml of every Cylinder, changed the compression screwed a Turbo on it and stuffed him in the Tribeca as a 3.0R to get back at least of the engineering costs.
I’ve never seen a svx with another boxer swapped in, and I’ve been in the SVX community for over 15 years. I’ve seen a couple LS swaps. The unique parts are admittedly quite limited but there was a good bit of crossover parts with later models.
Well that was quite a pile.
The killer of the SVX was the transmission, and the fact that it could only be had in automatic. Not appealing for a luxury sports coupe from a relative newcomer, priced on par with the big boys.
The EG33 engine in these are routinely swapped in to other cars and even AIRCRAFT. Many SVXs are bought just to harvest the engine from them.
Parts for these are getting incredibly hard to find which is the only reason I sold mine.
I remember the. All to well most car dealers would not take them in as a trade and if they did the dealers would not give much for them
christ man dont post comments while on nyquil
As an svx owner I can tell you have never owned one with all that bullsh*t you just spewed. Hell doesn't even sound like you've owned a Subaru. DONT read Wikipedia while smoking crack folks.
You Guys Are Magicians!! Now It’s A Sapphire Beauty✨
I hope you could make a video featuring all the equipment and products for car detailing. You guys inspire me to make this as my source of living one day.
I love these cars! So cool seeing it fire up. She's a beauty and I think the value is up there I'd think. Great work boys!
🤯Insane transformation! I enjoyed how you use the original sound. Keep up the good work👍
Within the last two years I've detailed and done some restoration on four of these cars - two '92s, a '96 and a '97 - and I think you guys did an amazing job! To correct a few misconceptions, there were 25K made between 1992 and 1997, of which 14K came to North America. The last year, 97, saw 640 cars sold in the U.S., so those are among the most rare; there **may** be about 100 '97s left in the country in driveable condition, probably less than half of those are in pristine condition. The 97 I worked on is one of two I've seen in the past ten years. On the transmission, the first years were the worst; most 92s-93s have had to have them replaced more than once. The later 96-97 cars did not have those problems and, by and large, were the most dependable of the run. On the windows, when it comes to shape and design, they are actually closer to those found in the Toyota Sera and the McLaren F1 (which took it's window concept from the Sera); the roll down portion on the DeLoreans are a good bit smaller. While they may look similar, the Ford Probe and Eagle Talon are not as good on the highway for a long trip; leg room is tight, but head and elbow room for four adults is much better in the SVX. I am saying this from experience. I test drove a brand new Probe and then and SVX the next day and there is quite a difference. But in any event, as I said, your detail was amazing, especially the interior. On the outside, the only thing I would have done was to remove the rear wing; it makes it so much easier to polish the decklid. Again, great job!!
hi, i have a subaru svx from 93 and when you put the R gear on, there is a beating when it goes back what could it be? I think it has something to do with the differential
@@bartek6591 Could be something transmission related. I've heard of cases where R goes first and then other gears disappear. 92-93 were, unfortunately, the worst years for transmission failures. The strongest auto to replace it with would be a 97-98 Forester or Legacy 4:44, which requires the transmission itself and the diff gears replaced. Also, if one can actually be found, a '97 SVX tranny would work perfectly in a 92-93; I know of someone running a '97 transmission in a '92 that has had no issues going on 6 years. I know this is not what you wanted to hear, and I am sorry for that.
So would getting a pre 96/97 would be considered risky, due to transmission issues? How frequent are they? Were all cars pre 96/97 affected by this? Thanks
I have one I put over 30k miles on the last year only, best cars that Subaru ever made
Great job, guys! I really admire you... Can you add a final screen where you show the time you spend in each step of the process (disarming, washing exterior, washing interior, polishing...)? It would be great and very teaching. And also would make people appreciate a lot more what you do... We can see 20 minutes, but we're talking about HOURS or even DAYS of work... Keep doing that amazing work!
I lived in Boulder in the early 90s and these were very common. Expensive too.
Great work fellas. Cool to see that car get back on the road eventually!
It was one of the most beautiful car designs in the nineties, and I dreamed of owning one like it. As for the design of the glass, it was a qualitative leap in design.
My grandfather had one and I use too enjoy riding with him. It's a cool car.💙
No idea what it’s worth today but back in the day, it got it’s good share of “ribbing” A friend had one and it was a “hoot” to drive! The side windows are super strange but cool as well. Nice work guys!
The windows remind me of the DeLorean in the movie “Back To The Future”
This car is beautiful. It is a type of vehicle that was considered luxurious here in Brazil in the 1990s. I believe that your work will be highly valued when it comes to reselling it.
I graduated high school in 2001. I saw these everywhere, many moons ago. I always thought the window situation on those were weird. Choices were made there. I had a 92 Grand Am. Back in those day. Good times.
I had a 1996 Grand Am GT Coupe pearl black. I got so many compliments on that car up until I got a SUV 2001. Only thing I did was get some basic, to me, chrome rims; the star spoke ones. Had the soft beige fabric seats sports bucket, leather steering wheel and hand brake handle and gear shift. I kept that black clean. I have a pearl white 2001 suzuki vitara xl-7 V6 and I keep it clean too, just hitting 100k and still look good and runs good as new (with cover on it). But don't think I would do black again. I wiped it every day. :)
Yeah the window were weird. My area we had hondas, acuras, nissan hard body and s10s. West Phoenix in the 90s and early 2000s
Fantastic job as always 🇬🇧👍🇬🇧👍
Thanks for the video!!!
WOW, the interior now looks brand new
3.3L H6
I remember as a teen, one regular customer would pull up to the store in this car in purple...I was always in awe of this car
I loved this SVX, such a classic sports car, a great Alcyone car, this one's a best forgotten car ever.
The SVX is so cool. Always wanted one.
Had a 94 LSI AWD with the same blue color.. Great video..
I had one that was Maroon. I loved it. I wish I still had it. The windows remind me of the DeLorean.
Subaru Boxer of course... most famous engine!!! I like the way you guys describes this cleaning process... regards from Lima, Perú
Thank you!
I haven't seen one of these in YEARS and I'm an 80s baby. I have ALWAYS wanted one of these because they just hardly exist anymore. Mine would have to have either a built EG33 (the stock 3.3L H6) with a big turbo, or a modern EZ36 (like Marty from Mighty Car Mods has in Supergramps, his Subaru Liberty Wagon) with a turbo.
Wow, what an impressive remarkable job from you guys. I wish I could do a similar job with the right cleaning tools that you have on my 2003 Acura typeS sedan. More power and keep those impeccable videos going.
Vilma I had 02 Nighthawk Black TL type S, when that car was detailed everyone was asking if I would sell it, you can do it Vilma just get the basics watch some of the videos Wd and others you get the basics, once you are start doing your own you’ll get that satisfaction
@@abelcelestinjr8810 thank you.
I used to own one about 16 years ago they are amazing cars.
WOW WHAT A FANTASTIC DETAIL CLEANING ONE OF MOST UNKNOWN SUBARU SVX
3.3 L H6 ENGINE
PREDECESSOR OF SUBARU XT
RARE CAR
I remember when these first came out. The window design keeps your aerodynamics when you open your windows on the highway
good job👍️
perfect✨
I’m gonna and say it’s probably worth $23,000 in good shape it’s a super cool car and I enjoyed
Really the video
Great job
on my way to work, i see a SVX of this same color in a parking area nearby. mostly in the warmer seasons. i "made" an SVX truck RC body. the body shell was a baja rally style truck with some long elongated windows on the side. a few key cut outs on the mask out stickers and i got SVX windows on it. got an SVX in the wangan maximum tune arcade series also.
Awesome final results! I am curious though with the wet sanding, what happens once the polish kinda fades off after a while? Does it just become all matted again so you would need to re-polish or does this polish not fade off over time?
Great job my brother 💙👍🏻
Used to sell them and drove one for a demo. Loved it. I NEVER lost a sale to ANY other 4wd car of it's kind or type. I've driven it through 18 inches of snow in colorado! BTW you video was wrong it wasn't the predecessor to the XT it came AFTER all the XT's. The 3000GT was it's main competitor, but the 3000's 4wd was great on a track along with the 4 wheel steering but otherwise wasn't that good and broke down a lot. Because it's a Subaru, it won't go up much, but as there weren't many in the first place it should do decently. I loved the windows, you could open them and get very little wind noise but were still big enough to do drive up windows easily. My fav color though was the pearl white. doing a blacked out tint with the top made for a very nice look, but the blue was my 2nd fav. the engine is simple its the 1st H6 2 L boxer 6 with 230HP. very low center of gravity, smooth and quiet.
You didn't have a top of the line model as it had cloth instead of leather seats. Also it didn't have the Alcantara on the doors.
Isso sim que é lavagem, parabéns! Muito bom serviço!
So thankful we don’t have to deal with mice nests and crazy amounts of rust in the southern states! … my sympathies to y’all.
those are the most beatiful windows ever
Beautiful!
Amazing Car,amazing Work
WELL DONE GENTS!!!
Love your videos best videos ever
I think it might be worth 15k and appreciating. The windows always remind me of the delorian.
I believe the the DMC dalorian had windows like that. But they also had gull wing doors.
SVX... I love it
My late wife had a red one, windows seemed Italian, or a DeLorean, the rear end looks like a Acura, she would be proud of you guys, good job guys😢
These are so sick 3.3l boxer too
Holy shit! You guys are almost at 500k! I think I joined at 35k subs, awesome work fellas!!
My buddy owned one in Connecticut in 2002. It wasn't very fast but it was fun and rare.
Love the SVX. One of my favorite 90’s cars. As much as I loved them and the very old school styling of them, never could justify the cost of one for the poor power output of the H6. You could get the same styling (minus the amazing windows) from an Eclipse which had the more potential power out of the 4G63
I used to have one of these. Loved it. Transmission was a pain in the but though.
One of my favorites! I want one so bad but they're hard to find in good condition.
I remember my high school friend had one of these back in 2000! I've only seen two in person
My SIL has one. She bought it new. It is pristine.
Wow 😲😲 split window added the car interesting looks different now a day
First let me tell you I love your channel. It’s very relaxing. Question, when you run that steamer through the door panels and you go in front of the speaker casing doesn’t that ruin the speaker?
I love Japanese 90's cars. 😍🚘
Great job guys 👍. The car looks awesome. I'm not a fan of the split windows. I am guessing it may have been copied from the AMC back to the future car , but this is a Subaru so it's way better then that basket case. I love the rest of the design inside and out. It would be incredible with standard transmission .
Underrated
Love the lines of the car, and back then loved the engine for its ''performance''. I think it is a 3.3/6, not sure though.
Apart from a real enthousiast keeping this a dream car to love and cherish these cars will only cost money and not gain money, from the moment of buying.
They were not a succes when they came out in the early 90's and the way we are going with electricity and such, these cars will soon no longer be allowed on the road (or in a garage).
Also the windows resemble those on a DeLorean.
Good job ! Awsome luxury coupe. It has a great engine and very reliable ,back in the day the transmission had some oilcooling issues. Rare car ,looks more happy now. If it had a tail ,it would wiggle !
Beautiful color
Verry good job 👍
The tires are put on the wrong way as well, they are supposed to be pointing towards the front of the car, I have a 97 and the rims actually have a little L on them to indicate which side of the car there supposed to be on.
Ahhhh another JDM Classic.
EPIC.
That's not a JDM car...
@@belegus4301 LoL your right 100%.
But i used to had one when i was in Japan. Its called Subaru Alcyone lol. And i bought another one when i moved to Australia.
Yes. 1/4 of the CVX was outside the USA.
Failed horribly. LoL.
Its quite rare now.
Well US sales only 24k SVX was sold.
Come to think of it its rarer outside the USofA.
Ah… 90’s classic. When Japanese manufacturers do a lot of experiments.
Nowdays. Truck/crossover/Suvs all over the place.
And yes. This car is not JDM. Its USDM.
@@rafflesssadiss8182 - it is not an USDM car either. D stands for domestic.

Great job!!!! I have been watching … i am a Subscriber .. what is that blue wet vac u have with the wheels on it that u let the chocolate water lol dirty water out of??? I would appreciate it or is a reg wet vac??
My dad had one of these. Was such a great car. However he had an incident that a limb fell and broke the Upper windows and was nothing but a PIA to get them installed. Also it handled great!! 😁
The glass windows remind me of the Toyota sera gullwing
The car windows look similar to that of a Toyota Sera 😊
Had two SVX’s.. their radiators are infamous for cracking!! And finding a replacement radiator is difficult and costly. Also the transmission needs a intercooler due to premature failure.
Does it have a flat 6 or a flat 6 with a turbo? I haven't seen one of these on the road in probably 20 years! Even then I don't remember seeing them too often. They're a strange and unique car but I would love to have the Subaru XT that it's "replacing"
I love the design of this car. I have a pic of one customized from a car show but am not sure how to post it to this thread.
I saw one on the road in Florida. I think it's a cult classic car like the Fiero or MR2
the windows of the subaru svx remiand me of the dmc 12 delaroean
It has an H6 engine and the windows remind me of the Citroen 2CV!
I remember when this car came out. I wanted one because it was so different from anything out at the time.
You should cover the electrical wiring in bags
The windows remind me of a DeLorean
my co worker has an SVX that he daily drives. His is the only one i've ever seen on the road too. He also has a Sambar Kei truck.
