RE Seth’s confusion: it is WEIRD to root for a team bc it’s near your house. I think people have a need to feel like the place they live is special but unless you live in LA it isn’t so get over it. Nobody on your local team chose it. They got forced to go there. They probably don’t like it but it’s a great salary so they deal with it. Just pick a team that is enjoyable to watch and stick with it until major personnel and/or coaching changes cause that to change.
I don't think it's weird to be proud of where you live or grew up. Every city has something unique and special about it. That said, people get really weird about who's allowed to support which team and what reasons are "good" reasons. It's just a game!

Why have we embraced the gambling model as a way to promote and enjoy sports? It can be an addiction with real consequences including destroying families, the antithesis of the joy of the sport. I believe a specific company was mentioned multiple times during this interview which seems a bit like a plug. At some point in the future, we will look at this like we have done with cigarettes.

I hadn't much followed sports commentators, but end of last year a few "recommendations" popped up. The first I watched was Stephen A talking about social issues. That really impressed me. Recently Colin Cowherd did so too and I hope he keeps it up. Maybe Adams will get there. I hope so as I thought she was good on her program.
