Actually minghao before he joined seventeen, he's been battling in b-boying, you can even see him competing with grown ups even ranked 8th in the world which he lead the team. Fun fact also seventeen does not only trained in idol dance but also numerous type of dance from traditional to contempary and for this particular dance, svt learned ballet. so maybe that explains their good foundation.

Minghao(The8) has been b-boying ever since he was young. He has also participated in dance battles. He even had a whole dance group where he was the leader at the age of 12. They managed to get so far as dancing against literal adults at b-boy competitions.

The only Seventeen member with battle experience is The8 (he was still in middle school though). All the rest were new to dancing and got trained by Pledis instructors. Pledis' training is known to be brutal though, even compared to other companies, and it focuses heavily on dancing as Pledis' CEO is an ex ballet/classical korean dance major.
Edit : also yes, they were taught in multiple styles and Performance Team still continues to take dance classes/seminars to deepen and diversify their knowledge.

@@jadev164actually when GFriend debut, soumu is so broke and in moment where they only could pay for SinB dance class, and then SinB would re-teach that lesson to the other member, and she is the main dancer even tho she is the 2nd youngest so she really strict with their movement. She will notice if there is one person who make a mistake in their choreo 😂. And for their practice, they really work hard for that. So hard until they run away at midnight to take a short break in Han River, and fun fact is Yuju once lie to the agency that she should go to dentist until her mom is confused because the dentist said that there is nothing wrong with her teeth, she is just so tired until she make a reason just to go😂

Oh wow it's pretty nice to see a new perspective on their dances (especially seventeen), and new terms i didnt even realized would fit so well. I'm happy you brought him over to watch them and somewhat promote the groups hahaha they're good and needs to be shown off amirite?
About the SVT dance training, all I know is that they each have varying trainings in the past (Jun and Minghao is the one with the most different styles I think cause there's traditional, contemporary, then the other two i cant remember), but for every album they release, they take necessary lessons if they think that dance style fits better for that song for example they took ballet before Don't Wanna Cry because they and the choreographers knew that style fits the song. So it's really a progressive thing. Whether or not they are trained by ex-battlers, that could be, who knows, cause most dance crews that accompanies kpop idols did go thru dance battles before they became kpop dancers. BUT Hoshi is also one to go for a that kind of styles because he joined a comp or two when they were trainees (eventhough it was kinda forbidden when they're a trainee anywhere) in addition to both Hoshi and the choreographer have the same mindset of imageries so maybe that's also it?
+ any chance you'll get to Nu'est soon? (no pressure, just a question lol), since they just dropped their full album today and their title track "Inside Out" MV is also out. The choreo video isn't out yet but there'll be stage performances soon

This was so nice to watch🤧 y’all should be apart of the “experts” for judging for Kingdom Legendary War cuz y’all know what you’re talking about vs. the experts on the show.
Also I think gfriend did some of their dances blindfolded too!

  • @00B.
    @00B. Před 3 lety +4

One of the choreographer should be Sim Kyujin, who seems to be the dancer mirroring Bang Chan during Kingdom first round performance. Stray Kids have actually a subunit called dance racha (Lee Know, Hyunjin and Felix) who takes part to the creation of the choreographies
P.s. Kingdom is a show that is airing in this period, until june, and has a lot of spectacular performances, you should check it out!

Thank you for reacting to Stray Kids!! Stray Kids choreographs always leave me impressed and your commentary on them impressed me even more, you both point out things I wasn't even looking at, the way you both explain certain things they're doing is fantastic! I'd love to see you react to more of their choreography because I feel like you both are probably one of/if not the best commentators I've seen for Stray Kids choreographies!

I can't get enough of these amazing dance videos. especially Stay Kids, who are so damn unique and interesting to watch and seventeen who are literally the most synchronised group dancers I've ever seen. I'd love to see more reactions to these two groups! But also, Oneus and Ateez, if you're interested in other groups with different concepts.

The thing that always impresses me about the transitions and reveals in Kpop is the added factor of the reveal is the vocalist with that next line and the forethought in constructing the whole choreography with positioning the members ready for that. You see a few dance practices where members have their name bibs on. I used to think it was only for mv editing and live show camera shots. But choreographers must use them a lot too when planning and marking through. Love your channel and insights.

greatly enjoyed the analyses especially seventeen's. i look forward to more! also DWC was when they were in their early 20s already; the youngest though was still 19. They started training in their early/mid teens (a few in their late teens, which is rare for an idol). by now, half of them have about 10 or more years of dancing experience starting from trainee days.

I love hearing artist talk about art, texture is a great concept to think about when watching dance. I feel like he put a word to something I could see but didn’t know how to describe. I watch a lot of competitions and Kpop. Performers embodying the music has always been something I looked at, I think I just called it musicality because as a person who makes music and dances you can hear music in two specifically different ways and I believe being able to bring those two abilities together is what creates texture. It’s literally using your whole body to create an experience, audio and physical movement.

To think GFriend started with no professional trainers to study from to becoming the synchronization Queens they are today shows how much effort they put into their dancing.
    I'm so proud of them!

  • @morayoadedapo2457

The thing i love abt seventeen(and stray kids too) is how well they synch despite the height difference. I never even thought about it until Lucas said that the jopping choreo was frustrating to him because there's a part where everyone is supposed to take a step out, but his stride is much farther that the other members. Woozi's movements are never too small and mingyu's movements are never too big. I never notice the height difference. Same with skz. Everyone is around the same height and then hyunjin is a head above everyone. Still, I never notice unless I'm looking for it. Mad respect 😌🙌🏾
