- This Wally wing mayfly dry fly spinner is a semi-realistic spinner, that is fun to tie for those of you that enjoy this type of pattern. Not only a good looking dry fly but also a great fishing fly! Don't be fooled by the delicate looking wings, they are surprisingly robust.

I had absolutely no idea this was a thing people did and I have absolutely no idea why this video was recommended to me however I am amazed by this, it must take so much precision and concentration and for that I admire you
Also these are really cool and I kind of want to collect them now
I tied flies with my grandfather when I was a little boy. It was a blast when i left the army i decided to give it another go but i can't use a fly rod so i stopped. I still love watching it being done it's very soothing.
When I saw the quality of the wing and how you used the resin top trick, I thought “This man is talented AND he has a big brain”. always so incredible and educational. Thank you.
Thank you...
The ones who tie flys are such great artists and so creative!! I only tie simple Crappie jigs but really admire and love watching fly ties! Awesome job!
Thank you Lanny!
I don’t even fly fish and watched the whole thing! Amazing!
So pleased that you enjoyed it Andres.

I just purchased your new book of fly tying techniques. I cannot wait to receive it.
Brilliant and beautifully done.
It is a pleasure to watch you tie such a beautiful fly!
Thanks Doug, always good to get positive feedback.
Very very nice, this fly is wonderful this is a big art!
"Bug" art ! ;)
Beautiful. Your patience and artistry is like a bonsai master at work.
Excellent use of UV resin! I’ve been fly tying/fishing as a hobby for quite a while now, and have never seen it used this way! I can’t wait to attempt to replicate this. Keep up the great content!
Thanks Ken, let me know how you get on.
Your videos are what inspired me to get back into tying! After my first vice broke several years ago I stopped tying. Once I found your videos I just had to get back into it! Thank you for sharing your amazing work!
Hi Karol, thank you! Always good to get positive feedback and know that the videos are helpful!
This is pure beauty!! I love it. Thanks a lot!
Сөзіңіздің біріне түсінбесемде бейне жазбаңызды толық қарап шықтым. Жұмысыңыз өте шебер орындалды. Алдағы уақытта да сізге сəттіліктер тілеймін. 👍👍👍
Holy moly, never knew fly tying could be elevated to such an art form. Excellent work!
Thank you.
Very nicely illustrated and tied. This is a nice blend of traditional and modern technique and material. Well played, Barry.
Thank you Kurz...
Thats some seriously next level fly tying. Looks absolutely astonishingly nice. Love your work.
It is addictive watching fly tying, but this delicate fly is definitely next level. Without doubt one of the better videos I've seen. I dont know how long it would really last, but looks truly wicked.
Thanks, they are surprisingly robust!
Beautifully tied sir! I watched it twice in a row and learned some things!
Good to hear Ken, thanks.
Amazing yet again. That wing technique blew me away!
Thanks Shaun, give it a go, it's not that difficult!
Very Nice 👍 Fly pattern,
Looks Promissing!
Thanks for sharing & keep up the good Work!
Thanks Freddy.
3 decades ago i was lucky enough to send some time tying and fishing with Wally Lutz. The Wally Wing was truly an innovation in the tying world for duns and spinners. Another pattern Wally invented was a double winged caddis which I helped named the "no-brainer." Is that pattern on CZcams? If not I'll tie and post Wally's pattern.
I have a few other patterns he showed me while fishing. Several are single material and extremity effective.
Hi Chris, thats good, I am in contact with Wally never met him though! I'll have to have a look at that no brainer!
I enjoyed watching this, your talented and thank you for sharing
Thanks for the kind words Jason, glad you enjoyed it.
This video has given me the itch to start tying my own flyers!! I will be viewing more of your videos!!
Good! Go for it Carlos!
Perfectly done, thanks for shearing!
Thanks Borislav.
I think it's cheating when you tie an actual mayfly to the hook.
It is absolutely amazing how these guys on CZcams tie
i don't tie i use super glue....
@@roynricksbigbandboogie4090 ahhh you have committed sacrilege!! May the great Caddisfly God smite thee for speaking of such horrors! 🤣😂🤣😂 I did that for a bit for this spinner mayfly pattern made with foam and organza but they did not last past one fish. Have you had success?
Use hot glue! 😁🤣
True, this should not be allowed at all!
So realistic. I will try this one . I just started tying and tried the double wing mayfly which is tied completely out of one Mallard flank, but yours looks so much more realistic that I've just got to try. Thank for the tutorial!
Thanks Alan, good luck with it.
What a great tie. I love the detail of the vid too. Thanks for sharing such a great pattern. -TWF
Hi TWF, glad you like it.
bloody brilliant! I can not long tie flies (my hands shake to much now) This is the most wonderful job I have seen in a long time.. thank you very much.. I must go and look at your other videos..
Thanks.
GREAT LOOKING MAY FLY!!.. You make that look so easy. The way you handle your tools, you would have made a GREAT heart surgeon. Thanks for another GREAT lesson.

Thanks Mike, you are very kind...
Fly tying is a hobby on its own. Because of work and other things I gave up fishing and fly tying some 15 years ago. Bud this is so good and inspiring I just must pick it up again. Blessing from the Čech Republic.
Nice to hear Robbie, get that vice out again! Good luck.
Superb tie. I look forward to trying this myself.

Thanks, give it a go!
That's a work of art.
Well done! Very nice fly!
Perfect patience - delicate way of tying. With technical flies like this one, I definitely need to learn your patience and calmness without being frustrated with so many elements in the way.
Thanks Ken, practice, practice and more practice... You can do it.
@@Thefeatherbender Thanks, I tied up a dozen last week.
Incredible fly I’ll try to tie and fish here in Patagonia. Congratulations to you and thank you to share something different. At least for me.
Gracias Rodolfo, please let me know how you get on with them.
Awesome job Barry. You make it look so easy.
Thank you Earl, it's only practice...
No lie, I'm pretty new to tying, but your ties are what I push myself to achieve. I keep trying with all the false self confidence in the world and they look like Frankenstein's monster. Love the content and I appreciate the challenge and beautiful flies.
Thats fantastic, thank you. Good luck with your tying.
Fantastic technique
This is SO amazing! The realism is...UNREAL!! I wish I had the skills to be able to have the vision to create this kind of thing. You are an amazing artist!!
Thank you, it's only practice.
You can do it to, with a magnifying glass you would be amazed what your fingers can do.
As a new tyer I was jaw on the ground just about the whole video. Good job sir!
Hi Chris, thanks. Lots of good patterns here on the channel to get you going if you are new to fly tying. If you run into any problems, just send me a comment and I'll do my best to help. All the best FB.

Hell this morning I had a mangled adoms fly that was on the bottom of the tackle box,got 20 perch and a few baby catfish on it.and it seriously didn't look anything like it did brand new lol.
You make that look super easy, but I can see myself making a huge mess out of it lol. Great video!
Thanks Brandon, but its only practice!

EXCELLENT TUTORIAL OF HOW TO TIE FLY THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT FISHING MODE I ALWAYS LIKED I HOPE SOME DAY I LEARN IT HERE IN PERU STILL NOT PRACTICED, GREETINGS
Thank you.
That was a heck of a job you make it look so easy
Thanks, its only practice...
So, yesterday I attempted this. was a struck of beginners luck. Today I had it almost done but couldn't wip finish the head. To much material or to little of a hook. Or both. Needless to say that bug went to the garbage and another one will be the 3rd attempt in a couple of days from now. Still a little pissy about that last one. You tie hard flys my friend. Little envious. But love the challenge. Thanks for upping my skills! Cheers!
Hi, definitely too much material, as you can tie this on many hook sizes... If you start your tying thread 2-3 mm behind the hook eye you can use this mark as a finishing point before you whip finish, you'll have enough room. Proportions and getting them right come with practice and repetitive tying over time. Keep doing what you are doing and you will get there... Good luck
Like!!! Good tying!!! 💪💪💪
Im thinking of doing a framed set of a dozen or so unique dries, I think I'll have to add this one (or a variant)! Only problem is I don't know if i can tie it as well as you did. Very well done.
Hi Evan, nice idea, you can manage it its only practice, oh and loads of talent, LOL.
Great fly nice job
Great Work !
Thank you!
What an artist! Wow! First time watching him.
Thanks Paul, Enjoy...
No thank you. I have tied flies in the past but just watching how effortlessly you bring one together......truely top notch!
Fantastic job!
Thank you John.
