- Hundreds paid their final respects to a Singaporean woman who died on Dec 22 after slipping off a cliff in New York. Her body was laid to rest following a 22-hour flight back home from the US. Many say she will be remembered as a kind spirit and passionate animal lover. Alif Amsyar has this report.

What makes this tragic case puzzling, in my opinion (and it's just my opinion), is that while the poor woman, after falling, and was lying below, on the ground, the husband was filming .... He claimed he couldn't go down to her as it was too slippery. But, yet, the passers-by (would went down to help her in her last moments) were able to. This is unsettling.
I hope her family will find closure.

Hey do you have any idea how huge the park is? Those sisters were likely at the spot nearer to where the lady had fallen. Also the husband was not properly attired, so he couldn’t go down to her. He didn’t have proper shoes! There would have been 2 funerals instead one if he had attempted to go down. It’s just very sad many Singaporeans are not well informed and don’t take precautions when they travel. Even with proper boots I have fallen so many times when walking on icy sidewalks. This was indeed a very costly lesson.

It doesn’t pass the smell test for me either and given the background of the people involved and a desire to stay out of potential international social/ religious, geopolitical tensions I think NY said Phuck it and choose not to drill down and do a more thorough analysis of the situation and I can’t blame them for that!!

I am sad that a kind soul lived such a short life. Being an animal lover myself, I feel bad that her furry friends have lost their precious guardian. I also feel terrible for her husband who is clearly traumatized and will grieve for her for a long time. To all those keyboard cynics who criticized him, I say F*** U!
Having said that, I should give this cautionary advice. Having lived in this country for 35 years and having entertained dozens of friends and relatives from Singapore over the years, I see a discomforting pattern about Singapore travelers. Far too often, they take travel conditions and climate in USA too casually. Winter is a bad time to travel, especially on the road when most Singaporeans have no experience driving in the snow or worse still, on (black) ice. It's a guaranteed recipe for disaster. Even walking can be dangerous if one is unfamiliar with icy conditions (it seems that this is the case with Aisynah's tragedy).
I recently had a Singaporean acquaintance who wanted to drive 12 hours and arrive at my place at midnight, and would have driven the last 6 hours in the dark on unfamiliar roads and conditions. Of course I said no, but he seemed oblivious to the danger! He was not the first that I have come across who had such a cavalier attitude about the challenges posed to a non-native traveling or driving in this country. There is often too much presumption that they know more than they actually do, when in reality they know so little and often at their own peril.
Living and traveling in this country could not be more different from the very safe conditions of a nanny state like Singapore. Unless you have the benefit of a local showing or guiding you around, do not be too adventurous.

The bigger question is why was she so high at the cliff ? The thrill ain't more important than her life.
Were this properly investigated? Were there witnesses who saw how the victim fell on that cliff?

Yes, there were videos, both before and after the incident. Fortunately, she was a blogger who loved recording videos. If there had been no videos, we wouldn't have known how she fell. The husband was far from her when she fell due to strong wind. If you asking where to see the video, they are for private view only. These videos are for close friends, family, and police investigation only. So yeah im one of her close friends.

She volunteered herlife in NOV to go to Gaza through Rafah and even wanted to return there after working in the US. Did you know she went on Umrah just a few days before she passed away? This is so sad for all her loved ones.
But what strikes me is the fact that it seems only women fall from cliffs, out of windows, down the stairs, from balconies and mountains.
And there seems to always be a man close by.
Same goes for women suddenly disappearing or dying on vacation in middle America....
I live in WA and not a weekend goes buy without a woman suddenly disappearing on a hike (with her husband) or the body of a woman being found in the woods.
When you look deeper into it you find that most of them wanted a divorce or were always fighting with their men.
Happened to the sister of my secretary. According to her fiancée she suddenly "disappeared" and a year later they found her body in a big patch of blackberry bushes.

There have been too many stories of non accidental cliff fall deaths. Nobody is guilty until proven so and nobody is innocent until cleared by law.

Never place yourself in a risky position, such as a cliff. If one invites trouble...
Did you see one comment why husband is filming when she fell and said could not rescue coz its slippery but some bystander went down and help her. As for me, if my love one in that situation, ill try hard to get down to her, others did. But husband was able to film.
